redhead87 got a reaction from Puppypaws57 in 5th fill and little to no restriction
Well, we talk about it at every appointment; he asks me if I'm feeling restriction and if anything has gotten stuck and I always tell him no. He never seems to concerned about it, which seems weird.

I'm only 11 days post-op, so I don't know from first hand experience, but I do have a suggestion. Does your church ever do the wafers instead of a loaf of bread? Could you get those instead?

Thanks everyone! I'm about seven weeks post-surgery, and I've lost 30 pounds since beginning the pre-op diet. It averages to between 3 and 4 pounds a week, and I knew it would slow down, I just didn't know how much.

redhead87 got a reaction from 2muchfun in Pain after fill
I had my first fill on Saturday. It didn't hurt very bad at the time. However, since last night I've been having pain near where the port is. It feels like muscle pain, kind of like after surgery. When I sit up or stand up it hurts, and it also hurts when I bend over. Is this normal, or should I call my surgeon?

redhead87 got a reaction from Bandista in AFTER 2+ years FINALLY RESTRICTION
tifme, I think that's pretty normal. I just had my first fill yesterday, but my surgeon has been telling me since before my surgery that it (usually) takes three or four fills before people feel restriction.

I should also mention, I'm hungry to the point that it keeps me up at night. I'll wake up to feed my son, and then I can't go back to sleep because my stomach hurts from being hungry. I just started a new job today, so this no sleep thing is not helping.

Thank you Colleen, as always! :-) The reason I'm not eating when I am hungry is because my nutritionist told me to have a Breakfast, lunch, and dinner of 1/2 cup of food, and to have 4-6 oz of a Protein Shake between the meals. So I have been doing just that. And it's killing me! I ate dinner two hours ago and I'm already hungry. And bedtime isn't for two more hours. Ugh.

    I am coming up,on 4 years....have been 100% successful for well over 2 years...I have not had a single problem...not one.
This has been the easiest thing I could have ever done...,no hunger, portion sizes completely under control, unable to overeat no matter how hard I may try....if I wanted to that is...I cannot cheat if I wanted to.
Goal weights have come and gone...my body stopped loosing when it decided it was finished loosing, settling at a good body fat % in the "Fit-athletic" range....don't care for BMI's...to me they're worthless, unless you are just starting out.
I have not gained nor lost any weight in over 2-1/2 years....I live day by day, without even thinking about it...just go about my business...eat what and when I want....and I don't want much, and when I do I choose good healthy nutritious foods...no calorie counting, no portion measuring.
I do keep a close watch on my daily Protein intake, as well as Water. And I go to the gym every chance I get...feel like crap when I don't.
I do not fear parties, holidays, family picnics, cruises...whatever...the band is the band is the band, no matter where I am at or what time of year it is,,,the band does not change.
The first 4-6 months was pure struggling, and frustrating to say the least...felt it was a big waste of my time and that I made a big mistake......but once my band got properly adjusted, and most importantly after I GOT ADJUSTED TO THE BAND, it HAS been a magic wand the whole way....it is a NEW NORMAL...not a diet...will never have a need to go on a diet again...not as long as the band remains a constant, then so will I.
I know everyone has their own story of success to share, but you asked for one and this one is mine....100%...Finished! And proud of it.

I'm six days post-op. Until Sunday I was on Clear Liquids only, and starting yesterday I am on full liquids. This Wednesday I'll start mushies. I have been getting hungry the past few days, since I've started feeling better and (I'm guessing) the internal swelling has gone down. I'll be glad to start mushies on Wednesday and be able to have "real food" again. In the meantime, I guess I'll just keep sipping on my Protein Drinks and my crystal light.

Terry, that's hard for me, too! I've always taken a bath to relax every night, except after my c-section and now after this surgery.

Thank you for that, Colleen! My husband is here and during the week my mom was helping, but he just wants me. He walks over to me and grabs on to my leg, then starts crying and holding his arms up. It's so sweet and sad! But like you said, I need to remember that this is temporary and the results will benefit him, too.

Thanks, Colleen. You're always so encouraging. :-) I'm feeling a bit better now than I was right when I woke up, so that's good. I'm trying to walk at least ten minutes every hour, and it does seem to help. Hopefully I'll start feeling better tomorrow.

redhead87 got a reaction from Kfoslo in July 2014 :)
My surgery this morning went well. Now I'm just recovering. I got home around 11am. Drank some Water, took some pain meds, and then slept for two hours. Got up, walked a bit, drank some Water, then slept for two more hours. Repeated that process one more time. Finally got up at 5pm. Drank some broth, now sipping on home Crystal light.
I am feeling okay. The port incision hurts the worst. Everything else is okay. Slight gas pains, but not nearly as bad as with my c-section.

My surgery is tomorrow, too! I'm nervous and excited and hopeful. I have to be at the hospital at five-thirty in the morning! Surgery is at seven. It's outpatient, so I'll be home later in the morning or the early afternoon. I hope everything goes well for you!

I just joined these forums, and thought I'd pop in here. My surgery is this Wednesday, the 16th. I'm so excited!
I've been doing the pre-op diet since the 2nd, so it'll be two weeks when I have surgery. Mine consists of unlimited Protein shakes, and other sources of Protein such as turkey, chicken (skinless, no sauce), egg whites, tuna, etc. and the standard broth, Crystal light, and other low-calorie liquids.
I go back to work full time on the 23rd, a week after surgery. I'm a teacher, so I was so glad to be able to have the surgery during the summer.
I'm getting nervous about everything, but I'm so excited to change my life!
