This is a fun topic, kind of to piggy-back off the "you know you lost weight when..." thread I came across the other day.
As we are losing weight, are there things you do that are remnants of when you were at your largest weight?
    For example:
I still default to the handicap stall in the restroom I try to park with more space between me and the car next to the driver-side/or in an end spot to make sure the space isn't too small (because I had moments where I couldn't get into my car when someone parked too close to me) I see my smaller clothing and still wonder how that is going to fit me, and am surprised when it does. I am struggling to get used to more fitted clothing, because I don't want to go to work looking sloppy. Pulling my seat belt out to its further extension to buckle it, then having to tighten it up a lot because I don't need that much belt.

Trace Lynne got a reaction from MisforMimi in How upfront was your surgeon about a goal weight?
I was originally asked what I thought my ideal weight/goal would be when I started the process at the weight management center. I said I would like to get down to 130-140 lbs. However, as part of my intake/tests, they did a full-body composition test, which gives body weight by bones, organs, fat, muscle.
When the results came in, the doc said that I seem to have fairly dense bones, which explains how I managed to avoid breaking bones over the years despite several falls which should've broken something, I guess. But based on the body scan and my height, my ideal weight range is 150-170 lbs. He said anything below that would be muscle loss and/or too low bmi.
I remember that discussion really well, because it took me back to my experience as a larger teen, I was chastised by my PE teacher who took to publicly shaming in class because her expectation was that I should weigh 130 lbs, but I was about 160 lbs at the time. All that time and torment, and I was right where my body wanted me to be.
I would like to get down to 150 lbs, if that is within the healthy range my doc wants me to be in. However, its not really about the number. If I'm fit, able to do the things I want/need to do, and I'm health, the number doesn't matter to me as much. Except, I would REALLY like to get back down below 200 lbs... only about 60 lbs to go on that.

I went shopping for new tops yesterday and kept defaulting to the larger sizes. Ended up in LARGE but kept walking back to the Women's sizes. I've gone from Size 2X to Large in 11 weeks. My daughter tells me I look "skinny" and I actually have a waist! I keep my sewing machine in the kitchen so I can take in the seams of my slacks before I leave the house.
I'm trying to create new habits - park as far out in the parking lot as possible so I need to walk further, I make a conscience effort to speak to people I know since people don't seem to recognize the thinner me........I'm proud of the decision I made and the changes I've made that have got me to this thinner me!

Thanks this is a great fun post.
    I am still doing these..
I still default to the handicap stall in the restroom I try to park with more space between me and the car next to the driver-side/or in an end spot to make sure the space isn't too small So this last one with the car happened to me this weekend. It was raining out Saturday night and my husband and I parked in the back side of the parking lot of the movie theater. We went to a fairly early movie at 4:15 and I was so glad we did because when we came out of the movie the theater was PACKED with kids and families and the 20 somethings looking to spend the Saturday night "out" doing something.

We walked back to the car and this pick up truck parked on an angle into the spot next to my car. I was royally peeved #1 because the spot was not meant for a truck of that size which is why he bad to park crooked he couldn't make the turn..and second because it left this sliver of space to get into the drivers seat. I was fuming and telling my husband I don't think I will be able to get into the car at all!!

Yeah well...I was wrong, and there was more then enough room for me to get in and I was not having to squeeze through. However I was still angry because what if it wasn't me now and it was me then?? This person just had no respect for others and that was obvious but it was an eye opener that I could fit through that sliver of space into my car.

I did but now I do not. I dunno. High school was really odd for me.
I am one of those ducks that really were outside the social circuit, and had alot of odd little interests, and while I was heavy it was extremely hard to pick on me. You couldn't scare me with kicking me out of school because by the 9th grade I had my basics in and could have graduated at any time, and I was in a unique position in that I owned my own business (poop scooping & dog walking - laugh all you want I made ALOT of cash) and my artwork was valuable then. So I had money, I had friends (when I wanted them) and I took care of myself - if you picked I hit (not proud it is just how it was). Bully's wouldn't pick on someone who can make it real work. I also took up alot for other heavy people who were bullied, so before this whole PC crap that is in schools now, the teachers turned their heads and I got away with a bit, cause I could literally keep the A-hole bully from starting stuff in the luch room, because of what I would do to him when I caught him later (well, I am a little proud of that).
But I know what you mean, my mind wondered off there a bit, ha ha. A good friend back then was a 'secret hippy', lol - a really nice cheerleader, we did yoga and would go camping and swimming and she loved to hide that blond hair under a cap and get her nails dirty. We lost contact a long time ago. I found out last year when I was going to offer for her to come in and visit and go to the Renaissance Fair that she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and passed away. I can't think of any one I want to gloat to, but I would have loved for her to see me. I know she worried about my weight.

Yes, so I hear it all the time, "I'm having this surgery because I want to lose weight and gain my health back"... but what I really want to know is, where is that person inside you that is doing it so you can be more attractive? I won't lie, I hated being fat. I did not feel pretty and I do feel a million times better being smaller. I even float across the floor better if that makes sense. I fit my clothes better, I can find a lot cuter clothes and I like shopping and doing make-up. They don't call me "diva" for nothing. I like taking pictures and I like having pretty hair and nails and lots of bright outfits. I love it when my husband tells me I'm beautiful. I personally don't think there's anything wrong with that, because on the inside I am kind, considerate and loving. I will never berate anyone and will always put my hand out to help anyone up, without question.
When it comes down to it, it will always be how you treat yourself as well as others, and sometimes looking our best helps us feel better about treating others and ourselves better. As long as you have a good heart and always remain respectful then who cares if you like to look good.
Anyone else out there willing to admit they have a bit of a narcissistic side?
