I am surprised to hear this. It never crossed my mind that someone would think that A medically necessary procedure would be questioned by another Christian. Glad your here. Welcome to the sleeved side!

Hi I wrestled with myself over getting the sleeve for five years. It was my husbands idea, and when I prayed I got a huge go ahead for this.
My pastor was very supportive. This is medically necessary after all. I have a spine issue.
Scholioses that cannot be surgically improved. So I had to lose the weight in order to get this pressure off my back.when I had the surgery I gave up my pain mess my Celebrex and all muscle relaxants. Big step. I remember after surgery, having this dream.
I was wrestling with someone, asking God please please take this back pain away, how will I move and exercise if I am in this pain even after surgery. I woke with a residue of post op surgery, from the sleeve, but my back pain is Gone!
How great is that? It took a few weeks to sink in. But as I realized that I would not ever need Celebrex again I believe God healed the part of my back that produced unbearable pain.
    It has never returned.
Why doesn't he straighten my back completely? I don't know. But I know he has a reason and
I'll take what he has given me.
That's my story, was it right to have surgery? You bet it was!

Hi I want to apologize for my silence on this thread.
I am still at 95 pounds lost. I am slowly beginning to lose a little more but I will say this. It's life changing. On every level, Spiritually, physically, emotionally and personally. I have lots of support and have never looked back from my decision. I do recall thinking after day 3, what was I thinking?
Thank goodness for time, it heals everything. I am surprised at how people who didn't know I used to be 95 pounds heavier treat me. With respect and interest. We should and I use the term broadly, care about each other regardless of our size, appearance and ethnicity. But we don't always do that. I have on an emotional level been able to now understand how someone who is looked down on because of the color of their skin might feel. I have to say I am thankful for such a lesson. Though I have always treated people with great respect, it is still a revelation to experience the huge disrespect our society places on obesity. I thank the Lord he is so much bigger than that.
I Love you all and even more so as I hope to get to know some of you.

Praying and will be praying As you both sort all this out and choose treatment. Praying the healing power of the God of Heaven will send his Angel-armies to fight this disease and eradicate these cancer cells. Much love to you and may healing be in His wings that are resting over you. In Jesus Name and By His Grace, Amen!

Hi everybody, thanks for the welcome, I really have never liked Breakfast and I don't recommend skipping it, but it makes me ill to eat it so I skip, lunch is a half sandwich most days of some Protein, either ham cheese or tuna fish salad. I often might have a salad as I can eat that if I spread it out over 35 minutes or so. I dip my salad into dressing so I can bag and save it if I become full.
I snack around three, sometimes this is my worst moment of he day,
It's before dinner so I crave chips but often there are none (good if I can't find any)
Another half sandwich was suggested by my nutritionist to keep me satisfied till dinner.< /p>
I eat a medium sized plate of food now for dinner. Usually 4 ounces of some meat a veggie and small salad. I never finish the salad but I try to finish the Protein.< /p>
I also eat dessert though I don't recommend it till about 6 months out.
My nutritionist works out my plan for me every 3 months or so.
I really struggle with sugar cravings and only put stevia in my coffee
and tea. That has helped quite a bit.
For me if I track, I gain weight,. I am being honest with you here,
the more I do normal, the better my weight loss goes along.
I am now off my BP mess my muscle relaxants and
any and all pain med's except a tramadol for aches when I return from PT.
No more CPap machines in my life anymore as well
I feel le a new woman really. I have had to replace my
wardrobe and it's a joy to shop again right off the rack!
I am in a size extra large and that's a great step from a 3x!
Still going, still happy! Still thankful for the decision I made, thanking
The Lord for each new day!
Hope this helps, please Ask any questions you like

I agree I weigh in almost every day so there are no surprises but if I am up a pound or. Two and I know I am eating right I don't worry about the scale. But woe when those clothes start to fall off you, that's a great feeling.

I would have the surgery done. If you can get others to help, until you are about three weeks post op, You will feel so much better while you are even beginning to lose the weight.
Only you can decide what to do, that's just my opinion, hoping you make the right call for you!

I was often told to finish my plate, at home and especially at school. I can vividly remember school puddings, the custard would have skin on it and if you were the unlucky one you'd get it. I was told to sit there once, missing out on playtime until I had finished all the custard. I gagged and gagged until I was sick but still had to finish it. I will never ever forget that bully of a woman, the school cook. I detested her.
I know my portions have always been on the large side and would think it was okay, if it was a healthy meal. However I was still living as that kid at the school dinner table. Quite often my hubby would finish his meal as he was full but I couldn't stand seeing left over food, so I would finish his too.
I know I have far to go and only on the first step of my journey. I need to 'unlearn' the learnt. I will do it though!!

Did you have to clean your plate when you were a kid? Most of our patients enter the program with a history of having to clean their plate during childhood. This habit often follows you into your adult life. This is your learned fullness.

Think about how full you feel after a meal. If you often feel too full or stuffed, then you’ve learned to overeat. After surgery, you don’t have room to overeat even a teaspoon too much. Finding your natural fullness requires that you take the time to slow down your eating and chew well.
Natural fullness is when you feel comfortably full and satisfied with the amount that you ate. You realize that a couple more bites would leave you feeling a little overfull. It takes about 20 minutes of eating before your brain recognizes that your stomach is full. By slowing down and chewing to applesauce, you will be able to feel fullness on less food.< /p>
Weight loss and better digestive health are benefits of practicing the skills that help you recognize your natural fullness. This skill is covered with our patients during their first appointment with the dietitian. Learning to slow down and chew well will cost you some time and frustration, but the payoff will help you stay safe with your eating after surgery.

Hi what a great job losing all that weight. I was also sleeved in 2014.
My date was July 14th. I am not there yet, have lost 92 pounds
And I have severe back issues. But my health markers have improved incredibly.
I still have issues with sugar, mostly the sweeteners. I have not let go of the sweet taste of things.
So just putting that out there.
Again congratulations on your weight loss.
    And welcome to Bariatric Pal!
