July RNY Page
seems like the third week plateau is common, I've read about others experiencing this and I myself have not lost anything the last four days of my third week

July RNY Page
had surgery on 7/23, back to work on 8/11, not much pain at all, lot of nausea and gas, can't stomach protein shakes, and almost everything tastes disgusting, I am not getting enough protein but am working on it every day, I've lost 17 lbs in three weeks

Taste horrible
I feel your pain. Nothing tastes good and Protein shakes make me gag. I am on soft foods now but I can't stomach them either.

The Chin.......
My case is like pjhoyt's. The first think people noticed was my face, then neck, then boobs and back. I am waiting to see the result on my belly! I want to see a waist.

Death and sadness.
To Linda and others who have suffered a loss: I can only hope that you have other loved ones who can comfort you, hold you, and listen to you. I find that connecting with nature and a higher power gets me through a day at a time....sometimes a few minutes at a time.

Is sleeping on your side safe within the first few days/weeks post op?
I am six days out. I am worried I may cause any damage or stall healing but I have always been a side sleeper. I do add pillows for support.

And So Our Journey Begins...
Woot, woot Misty! 11lbs. is awesome. Keep up the good work. I am feeling much better. I am able to walk about 20 minutes at very low speed and sleep is easier. No pain meds for two days now.
-
And So Our Journey Begins...
Sounds like you are doing great. I am very happy for you Misty. I don't walk as much because I am in pain. I take meds about twice a day for it and last night I had this cough so I was sooooooo sore and achy today. On the bright side, I was able to get in more fluids. Oh, an I had my surgery two days BEFORE my birthday. : )

And So Our Journey Begins...
Misty, how did you do with the Protein shakes? How much Water are you getting? I have found it hard to get in all my liquids but everyday it gets a bit better. I am worried because I am only getting about half the recommendation.

anyone else having surgery next week?
Had mine on Wednesday the 23, best of luck to all of you. I am lucky to have so many people supporting me, otherwise I don't know if I would be doing as well as I am.
-
Tomorrow is the day
I know how you feel, my surgery is on Wednesday. I am not worried about the surgery either but rather future complications. People in my group, the psychologist, the surgeon, and my friend have all given me the same advice--nobody knows the future, nobody knows what will happen 20 years or a day from now whether you are having surgery or not. Just stay positive and have faith. Let us know how it all goes. Best wishes!

Protein shake products spike my blood pressure!
15 grams of what? protein or sugar? if it is the sugar, there are ones that have much less than that. I use Premiere Protein which only has one gram of sugar per serving. It is also gluten free (I am). Have you discussed your condition with your doctor?
