  1. My sister gave me a misfit shine for Christmas and I love it. I swim and can wear it in the Water and it counts laps, etc.
  2. She does live in North Carolina...I would hazard a guess that everyone she hangs out with smokes, too.
  3. I definitely want to ride again, but I still have a ways to go.
  4. Here are some ideas for providing self care. Which of these do you use? What is missing? http://www.upworthy.com/101-self-care-suggestions-for-when-it-all-feels-like-too-much
  5. She waits until she runs out of toilet paper because she knows her parents will supply it. She loses it because her dance class meets without her. She can't keep her hands on the wheel and her eyes on the road when she drives because she is bottle-feeding a pig. She smokes. Her life is still not fabulous.
  6. Welcome. I certainly understand the pre-op anxiety. That was the worst part of the whole process for me. Just trust your surgeon and bariatric team. As long as you are honest and open with them and do the best you can to do everything they ask you to do then you will be fine. After surgery: sip, sip, sip, and get up and walk as soon as you can. Focus on getting in your fluids and Protein, take your Vitamins as instructed and exercise when cleared.
  7. I would be curious to know how much she actually knows about WLS. If she is unwilling or unable to work with you as you go through this process then definitely see if you can find someone else. But, this might be a good opportunity for her to learn more about the surgery and the implications for people with eating disorders.
  8. I just turned 52 and was sleeved April 20, 2015. It is one of the best decisions I ever made.
  9. You can increase your metabolism by: Staying hydrated Eating Protein periodically Getting enough sleep Exercising Doing weigh bearing exercise/increasing muscle You can decrease it by: Skipping meals Not getting enough sleep and/or sleeping too much Not exercising Not getting enough protein
  10. I haven't been sick and I haven't experienced any noticeable hair loss.
  11. The quality of the calories makes a huge difference. My body responds to 1000 calories of donuts differently than it responds to 1000 calories of turkey.
  12. If it's raw I would run it by your NUT.
  13. Some variations on a relevant quote:
  14. At your weight and with your issues I frankly don't see what benefit WLS would give you. I could be wrong, but my suggestion is to talk with a nutritionist to make sure you are eating enough for your exercise level and continue to seek more information about your other issues.
  15. If "I" read "your" post and saw the word "I" instead of "you", it would have much more credibility for "me". I am glad to hear that weighing daily works for you. It doesn't provide valuable information for me.
  16. I don't know why some people get shots and others pills. It may have to do with what your insurance allows and/or it could be your surgeon's preference. I had pills. But, I know that the shots are very common.
  17. I lost 30 pounds of water! When I lose 30 pounds of fat I'll be happy Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App When you lose fat you lose Water. It goes together.
  18. It looks like there have been a lot of ppl who don't read. I eat 1000 calories or less and weigh 280. I was bulimic for years. I got the band and list then regained even though I was under 1000 caliries a day. I'm considering the surgery because the doctor says it changes your body's set point. My fear isn't that I won't lose, but that once again I'll regain because my body really wants to stick at this weight. I eat a whole foods diet, not a SAD. I do keto. I just don't lose. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App One thing I learned through this process is that my obesity is at least partly due to under eating as much as to overeating. Overeating is my bodies response to under eating (skipping meals, restricting, etc.). One of the biggest gifts of this program for me so far is a deeper understanding of nutrition and what my body really needs. Eating under 1000 calories in a day is no longer an option for me.
  19. You will always enjoy food you like, you just may like different foods.
  20. I started as soon as I was cleared to get in the pool (about 4 weeks post-op).
  21. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  22. How are you getting your protein? Are you able to get at least 64 oz of fluid (edited because I meant fluid and not protein) and meet your protein goal? What does your surgeon say? This is something you definitely need to address with your bariatric team. I wouldn't even wait for your next appointment. Call them now.
  23. The tests are for your benefit to make sure you are as healthy as possible for surgery and can succeed. Why in the world would you risk your health and life by being anything but honest with your medical team?
