Said NO to anti inflammatory and even NO to steriod shot
How far out are you after surgery? My surgeon warned about taking steroids after surgery as they can inhibit healing and dissolve the suture line in the stomach.

I got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago when I had a checkup with my PCP.

What can I do to help with my tiredness?
Thanks! No offense to anyone here but I'm not the kind of person who can just relax and heal. I'm the kind of guy who will seriously over do things if left to myself. For me I just need to push myself. Obviously my motivation was to enjoy my beautiful wife. She is a strong motivator! This is a good opportunity to practice pushing yourself to rest and take it easy.

What happens when you dont get you protein?
Protein is critical for healing and weight loss. Side effects of not getting enough protein (in my educated opinion): Slow healing Complications Lack of energy Muscle Loss hair loss Skin problems Nail problems Slow or no weight loss (other than muscle loss) Do everything you can to get in your protein and fluids. Sip line it is your job! It gets easier but keep at it.

Has anyone weaned off vitamins?
At a year out I was advised I could drop all the extra vitamins and to just take a multivitamin. Most modern adult human beings need a multivitamin whether or not we have sleeve surgery so to me it isn't a burden. I have always taken a multivitamin.

Pre op diet questions since reading my book last night
By the way, you want to be as healthy as possible going into surgery. 500 calories a day is not healthy.

Pre op diet questions since reading my book last night
I recommend that you follow the recommendations of your program. You do not get bonus points for restricting nutrition and it can be extremely counterproductive.

Next step... sleep study. And totally scared.
It depends on your insurance, your surgeon, and whether you have symptoms of sleep apnea. I didn't because I had already been diagnosed and am being treated for sleep apnea. It is a comorbidity. So if you need a comorbidity to be approved through insurance, it is a very common one. Some surgeon's require testing, especially if they suspect sleep apnea, because sleep apnea can be deadly, especially if you are having surgery. Plus, a good nights sleep is critical for healing and for general health.

3 weeks out
I guess it depends on what you are doing whether or not you are doing something "wrong". Are you tracking your food? Are you following your program? Are you getting at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? Are you getting enough Protein? What is your protein target? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Are you eating enough to support your exercise intensity? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods? Thanks for replying I am really not tracking my food. Have a very hectic schedule. I don't think i am meeting my Proteins and Water intake. How much is 64oz ? Manage to drink about 1l a day. Dint start exercising yet , planning to start next week. I am not eating any starches, sugars except on my bday few days ago. So maybe you can guide me please. Its scary and frustrating not to lose anymore For me, tracking is critical for making sure I reach my protein target. I use MyFitnessPal, a free app, because it is really easy. My protein target is 100 grams. Did your surgeon give you one? Do you have a NUT? 64 oz is 64 oz! One cup is 8 oz. So 8 cups is 64 oz. Or, 3 20 oz bottles plus more.

Preteen with growing weight problem
In my unprofessional opinion it is more likely puberty than PCOS. If her mom is a strict vegetarian, it entirely possible her daughter may be malnourished/protein deficient unless she is on top of her nutrition (and most 11 year olds that I know aren't nutrition experts). When my niece was vegetarian she seriously thought she could live on French fries. Puberty is a very dangerous time for developing eating disorders. Often because of an overreaction to some natural weight gain as our bodies are developing. I wish I knew the answer. I'll see if I can find a book or other resource.

Where do I put my scale ?
Mine is under a table in my bathroom. I have to physically get it out to weigh.
-
Where do I put my scale ?
I weigh infrequently. Why the "rule"? Because the scale is just one measure of progress. Because obsessing about short-term fluctuations can make people crazy and isn't very productive. Because our bodies are complex systems and not simple machines. Because weight fluctuations and stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Because if you are following your program you will lose weight. Because life is too short!

Things I should get before surgery?
For the hospital all I needed was: lip balm, biotene spray, and a heating pad. Take a pillow for the ride home. For home: liquid Tylenol. See if you can fill your prescriptions beforehand. For the kitchen: food scale, measuring utensils, small storage containers, small utensils (appetizer or toddler size), small cups, plates, bowls. Food: Protein samples, Premier Protein, Mio drops/crystal light, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, decaf or herb tea, ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups, sugar free Popsicles.

To eat or not to eat....
Can unjury be mixed well into hot foods? For me I can add it to warm foods (not too hot). If you order the unjury starter pack they send you a food thermometer.

Vent of frustration
This is why I am so happily single. My guess is that up to now you have silently taken on most of the parenting, housekeeping, and general living duties and he hasn't had to be responsible for much. Now he is. Sucks to be him but if you got hit by a truck tomorrow he would have to step up at least until he was able to find a new wife/mother/housekeeper. I have no suggestions other than to kindly and firmly set your boundaries and expectations for what you need to recover and be healthy. Prolonging your recovery by not taking care of yourself is not going to help you or him in the long run. Good luck!

To eat or not to eat....
You have got to get in your protein. Even if you don't feel like eating you may need to eat more frequently with small protein-rich meals and Snacks.

Sad but nothing to do with bypass
Have faith that you will find the right job, not just a job. Those positions may be opening up because the job wasn't what was advertised, the boss may be awful, or any number of reasons. Just keep looking and stay positive.

Sipping vs. Gulping

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone experiences stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post-op. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall.
