  1. Hey Mini! Your current weight is my goal weight!!!
  2. Nope! Just bring yourself! Congrats on getting banded! My Bandiversary is 1/29/2008!
  3. Okay Peeps! We're meeting at Red Robin @ Arapahoe and I-25 on March 23rd at 7pm! We'll have some out of town Banders here! Mini, Munchkin and Jaime! Let's all get together and enjoy some good conversation! I hope to see you there!
  4. I know everyone is individual and it's the same with the Lap Band. Some do very well and others do not. I happen to have done extremely well. It's not easy in the least, but it's adjustable and it can go wth your lifestyle. You decide how tight you want it. I prefer to not be too tight since I like to eat bread and tortillas and salads. I also like to eat brown rice and whole wheat Pasta. I can do that if I'm not too tight. I have known many with gastric bypass and 80% have had major health issues. And two did not have resolution to their diabetes.
  5. This is a also a trend now where doctors are placing Lap Bands over Gastric Bypass stomachs. The bypass weight loss comes to an end eventually and you have to struggle to continue losing if you're not at your goal. I got a LapBand 1/2008 and I've lost over 200lbs. My friend got Gastric Bypass 9/2008 and she stalled at 155lb loss and hasn't been able to lose anymore! She works out but the malabsorption is no longer happening for her. Her body has learned to compensate and if she eats anything unhealthy she gains. I on the other hand continue to lose. I am still losing 2 to 3 lbs a week and if that slows I just return for another fill!
  6. a bunch of out of town banders are going to be here on the 23rd and 24th of March! We're all staying downtown! It would be great to have a group meet at Red Robin! Anyone interested?
  7. I forget, where do you live? Are you able to come up once a month to meet all of us at Red Robin? We could start doing something more regularly!
  8. Congrats on your date! The LapBand is the best thing I've ever done for myself! I have helped many who have come from out of town to be banded. The biggest issue is having someone who can drive you from the surgicenter. They WILL NOT allow you to leave alone, even if it's in a taxi. You have to have another person with you when you leave.
  9. Oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear all of this. I feared there would be an issue that wouldn't resolve easily. It just didn't seem right that your stomach wasn't emptying. That's horrible that you're in such pain and not able to eat. Can you at least drink the Isopure Clear protein drinks? You've got to keep your strength up! I know you know that. I'm sorry! Please come back and tell us how your visit with the new doctor went. I hope you found good news! I wish they did the sleeve here for you. It would be nice to just have it done here if you have to revise to another WLS. The sleeve is the way I would go - if I had to revise. I hope Kaiser pays for your bypass and understands that you are committed to losing weight! You've worked so hard to get to where you are today! This doesn't seem fair! Hang in there! love, dee~
  10. That's GREAT! WE haven't had the pleasure of your presence at one of our RR events in a long time! We meet at 7pm. Do you remember the RR? Arapahoe and I-25. Can't wait to see you!
  11. Great! Do you want to contact Julie and see if she's available? Anyone else? The more the merrier!

    Skipping breakfast?

I have done a lot of research on how eating or not eating breakfast can alter your metabolism. As others have said, breakfast is very important for getting your metabolism started. Also, during the night your liver puts out glucose and eating will shut that off. It's good to eat only when you're hungry, but if you're not hungry and that means that you're going 15 hours or longer without eating, you do need to eat something - even if it's half of a Protein Shake. Over time, the less calories you eat, the more your body will think it's in starvation and your weight loss will eventually plateau.
  13. Look how cute you look in your picture! I've often wondered how you were doing? How's life?

  14. HOW CUTE YOUR PICTURE IS!

  15. Wow this site has changed a lot! I was wondering if Julie had posted how things were going. I hope you're doing okay Julie and they figured out what was wrong with your tummy! I would love a Red Robin get together! How does January 12th sound? I will be in Denver and would love to see everyone!
  16. I am glad you're not gaining! That is good! I have really struggled for these last few pounds that I've lost. I got a fill a very months ago and I think it has helped a lot with portions, but it seems that the scale is hardly moving. I have done the low carb diet and am about to start the Insulin Resistence Diet. It's very balanced and is identical to the diet that I gave my diabetic patients. I hate to think of it as a diet, since I should be on it the rest of my life due to the PCOS. I never want to be a diabetic and with my PCOS the chances are high - regardless of what my weight is. I am very carb sensitive. I wish I could pick you up and see you! I still have some things to give you that I never got to last time you were here. I won't be in town that day! Tell your Mom, I said, "HI!" I really enjoyed meeting your family!
  17. Thanks Marie!!! How is life since your last fill? I'm proud of you too Julie! It's not an easy road, we are on, but we just keep on a'truckin'!
  18. I won't have much time to run up to Denver until the middle of November. My BF will be here next week for a week and then I'm going out of town after that. We can plan for something mid-November if you're interested!
  19. I can't believe it! I finally lost 200lbs since the day of surgery! I have lost 244lbs from my highest weight noted. (it was a weight watcher's visit) - :blushing: This morning when I stepped on the scale I had to giggle with glee! :lol:I was home alone, so no one was there to celebrate with me, so I thought I'd come here and share my good news!:smile2: I've got about 68lbs to go! I love my Band!
  20. I think it's just you and me. Julie can't make it afterall and Snowgator is working. Anyone else here? Call me Girlie, I'm still curious!
  21. I actually hated the Spanx! I also wasted a lot of money on them! They didn't give my mons any compression and they were not comfortable with their crotchless area. I love the Marena compression garments. They have the first phase and the second phase garments. The price isn't bad for what you get and I love them! They are easy to get on too! www.marenagroup.com and use the code word "skinny" for a discount. (I hope that still works!)
  22. I have over 300 lbs to lose and my lower tummy excess skin was very heavy and causing me a lot of lower back pain. I am also very active and it interfered with my workouts. I had a TT and Brachioplasty done last December. Since that time I've lost another 50lbs and I have a lot of excess skin. This is not a problem because I knew when I opted for earlier surgery that it was just the first phase of many procedures. I did it to help with my mobility. I advise others IF they can wait to wait until you are at your final goal. IF you do have it done early you will end up with excess skin after you do get to your final goal and your results won't be as nice. I know it's tough to wait, but work really hard and then you will be rewarded with great results!
  23. I had an extended TT and an extended Brachioplasty. The only pain or discomfort I had was from the lipo he did on my arms. I am extremely happy with my results. He took 13lbs off my tummy and 5 off my arms. I am returning for a lower body lift, breast lift/aug, face/neck and eye lift and full thigh lift. I've heard the thigh lift is painful, but the rest are all manageable!
