  1. Ever since I've recovered from surgery I haven't had any regrets. My biggest regrets truly stemmed from the recovery stage of the process and the food limitations. Now that I'm eating again normally (for the most part) I'm in a much better place. I've lost almost 20lbs since surgery. I'm thrilled with that.
  2. Sue, that's awesome news! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I'm glad you called. Being too tight can cause all kinds of problems... it's better to be safe than sorry!
  4. I bought a treadmill and put it right in front of the TV in my family room. It's not the most beautiful decoration for my house, but having it stare at me as I sit and watch TV is enough motivation for me to get up and use it each day. I've managed 25/26 days on it since we brought it home. I try to do 20-30 minutes minimum and if time, or my body, permits I sometimes do as much as an hour. If you can afford one, or you can get one from family members that might not be using their old ones, I recommend trying something like this. Good luck!
  5. What has your log showed you in the last few days? How are things going since you started tracking? Are you making sure to get your 900 calories in?
  6. My doc put in 3ccs at surgery and gave me 2ccs at my first fill.
  7. I went to the seminar of my surgeon in early October (the 2nd I think). It was the second seminar I had attended and it caused me to switch course to his program. Anyway, I was banded on the 18th of December. It took me 2-3 weeks for my initial appointment day which encompassed a single and group meeting with a nutritionist, an exercise physiologist, the psych eval, blood work, a physical and a meeting with the surgeon. After that my program wants you to meet with a nut. 2 more times before they will submit you to ins. regardless of whether your ins. requires or not. These meetings are usually a month a part and if the nut. does not sign off on you you are not allowed to move forward with the surgery until they do. Before this first meeting I got a notice from my husband's employer that our ins. was changing Jan. 1 and had a mild freak out. I called and was told that if the nut. and psych. agreed we could fast track my surgery and have my nut. appts. 2-3 weeks apart. So that's what we did. I am thrilled that they were willing to work with me. Otherwise I'd probably still be waiting to be banded.
  8. Congrats!!!!!! That's awesome and it's a good excuse to miss the next get together!!!! :-) Good luck with the pre-op liquid diet!
  9. Weird... I haven't gotten anything from my doctor. No book, no registration card... nothing. I'll have to ask at my next appt.
  10. I think it's a silly rule personally. I get just as much air in my stomach drinking through a sport cap on a water bottle. If you are comfortable while drinking with a straw, talk to your surgeon and see what he/she says about allowing you to do so.
  11. Astro, you might be too filled. Call your doc ASAP and ask what he/she thinks. Good luck!
  12. Because you will be chewing the heck out of your food instead of swallowing it as quickly as we tend to do pre-band. Your bites will be smaller and if you don't make your bites smaller you will ultimately pay for that with quite a bit of pain as things get stuck.
  13. I'm so thankful also! Christine gave me some terrific capris and I hope by the time the weather is warm enough to wear them that they'll fit me :-) I'm already working on another bag of goodies to bring to our next meeting.
  14. I LOVE the daily plate. I've done WW Online/Etools for ages and I much prefer TheDailyPlate because a. It's free and b. it breaks down all of my nutritional intake for me. I like seeing how much Fiber, Protein, carbs etc... that I take in in a day... week... or month. Just my .02
  15. It was definitely great to meet everyone today. What a terrific bunch of bandsters we are (I'd say gals, but we did have Guy with us :-)) Next month we'll have to try the tables in a different configuration. I truthfully didn't expect the awesome turnout we had... but I'm so glad everyone made it. I just kept saying all afternoon "that was so fun!" See you all next month!
  16. Hi everyone! This month's meeting was such a success that we have decided to have another get together next month and would like to invite anyone that'd like to join us! Whether you are pre-band, newly banded or an old band pro. Everyone is welcome! Where: Polaris Mall food Court When: Saturday March 8, 2008 Time: 2 p.m. Look for us near the entrance to the Great Indoors store. We will have a helium balloon marking our group. All you have to bring is your smile... but if you want to you are welcome to bring outgrown clothes to share with those that might need/want them as well as a "before" picture to add to our group photo album. I hope to see you there!!!!
  17. I'm sorry you weren't able to meet you today. You were in our thought and wondered if you even felt up to joining us. You'll have to join us next month. We're meeting at the same place and time on March 8th. Glad you're feeling well!!! -Heather
  18. I'd love to see what she looks like today since these pictures were posted almost 2 years ago. I bet she is unrecognizable :-)
  19. I would love to see this become a monthly thing... a support group of our own making. I'm definitely up for that. :-)
  20. Is it tomorrow yet????? I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas to come :-) I can't wait to meet all of you tomorrow.
  21. KTBugg, Welcome home! Congrats on your banding. I hope we see you Saturday. :-)
  22. 14 pounds in a stone
  23. That sounds like a great idea!!!! I always have a camera in my purse. We can take a picture of anyone that's interested in being part of it.
  24. I hope so for you too Christine. :-)
