  1. Just last night I told my husband how I wished I had taken pre-op measurements! I took pictures, but not measurements. ???? I'm a month out and can tell a big difference in clothes, so I know I'm losing inches, just not sure how much! I guess it's not too late...I can measure today and keep track from this point on. You're doing an awesome job!
  2. Newlifeb, I had the same unbearable pain. Kind of lower left, between the indented "dimple" and the lowest incision? It was awful. Nothing helped it, then just one day, it was gone! It's almost like a nerve pain. I slept on the couch propped up with pillows so I wouldn't move during the night and aggravate the pain. You are NOT a wuss! I have a very high pain threshold, and it brought me to tears. I've had seven surgeries and have Fibro, 3 autoimmune diseases, and small Fiber neuropathy and this was BY FAR the worst pain I've ever felt. Hang in there! It gets better, I promise! I'm only 4 weeks out (12/8).
  3. I looked back at everything I've been tracking on MyFitnessPal, and it looks like I need to eat less, but more frequently. Make sense? I haven't been spacing my meals out every couple of hours, I've been pretty much having a normal Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I've been eating about 1/4 cup of food instead of 2-3 Tablespoons. So...I'm glad to hear I haven't done any damage that I can't correct from here on out. I also need to break my horrible habit of eating too fast. How do y'all do it? I've tried putting my fork down between each bites, even walking away for awhile, but somehow it still seems like I'm scarfing food down. I'm sure that's played a big part in how much I've been eating, too. I appreciate everyone talking me down from the ledge! ????
  4. Whew! I was gonna be really mad at myself if I had already screwed this up! I have a Protein shake in the morning, then some cream of wheat for lunch, and either a scrambled egg or some refried Beans w/cheese for dinner. Last night I just started on some tuna. Im eating around 700-800 calories a day. I'm getting my protein & Water goal, but I also did have a 3 week stall. Basically, the only week I've lost is the week of my surgery. The nurse practitioner kinda got on to me for not losing any more (15 lbs post-op) and for eating too much. ???? I've only had pain a couple of times and then it was one bite I was fine, then the next bite just put me over the edge. I don't know if I've encountered any slider foods yet, I'm not sure I'd recognize it if I did! Thanks for the reassurance y'all!
  5. I'm just now starting my 2nd week on soft foods (sleeved 12/8). I had a follow up appt today and it seems like I've been eating too much, although I've only eaten until I was "full" twice. Could I have already stretched my stomach, or does it take a lot longer?
  6. I didn't have a drain tube and I stayed overnight. He's very good. I saw 3 other surgeons before I met with Dr. Nicholson, and like you, I knew right away. Good luck!
  7. I'm about 3 1/2 weeks post op and just started my soft foods/puréed stage last week. Should I be concerned that I'm only getting about 750-800 calories a day? That doesn't seem like enough. But if I eat any more, I'm miserable. I haven't had a problem getting my Protein or Water, though. I've also been walking about a mile 4 times a week.
  8. I've been the same way. It helps to find something you really enjoy. I tried a few things and my favorite is water aerobics. It's easy on the joints, fun, and everyone in there is so much older they don't give two rips about what you look like! ????
  9. My surgeon is the one who prescribed it to me. It's not terribly fizzy. It's kind of like Airborne, it fizzes, then it dies down and you drink it.
  10. I was JUST about to ask about this same thing! I was sleeved 12/8 and the skin on my face is peeling and scaly. I look like a reptile! I've tried exfoliating and moisturizing like a fiend, but nothing has helped. I've had 6 other surgeries and have never had this happen. I haven't noticed any change in my hair. I would have thought with all the Water I'm drinking my skin would be looking great! I wonder how long this is going to last?
  11. I'm curious if anyone else was prescribed an orange powder that makes a fizzy drink when you dissolve it in water? All it says on the packets of powder is "metabolic booster effervescent powder".
  12. Hey there! All you Nicholson patients, did any of y'all have a horrible tearing pain on your lower left abdomen a couple of weeks post-op? It's below the big incision where he removed the stomach. His nurse Sandy said it was normal for a couple of days, but this is going on 10 days. I can't bend over, I have to still sleep on my back, sitting or standing hurts like crazy. I'm ready for this pain to go away!
  13. I didn't realize they had adult liquid Tylenol. Thanks for letting me know!
  14. OK, thanks y'all. I'll give them a call and see what they say. Appreciate the input! ????
  15. I was sleeved 12/8 and my doc said no NSAIDS, but I have a major headache and really need to take something. Do you think enough time has passed that I can take something now?
  16. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post-op ( Dec 8), and I've hit a stall already. I've lost 15 since the procedure, but nothing for about a week. I did get aspiration pneumonia and have to go back into the hospital 2 days post-op for another 3 days. I'm wondering if the extra illness is playing into me not losing any more?
  17. Yikes! That's no good. I just thought it was my body trying to heal itself. Is this worth an after hours call, or can it wait until the morning?
  18. Hi, my dr recommended I drink 64 oz every day by taking 1ml sips every 15 minutes. I'm still so flipping thirsty! I know not to take big chugs, but can in drink more frequently?
  19. Pinky588, I'm in the Dallas area. Had my surgery at Baylor Plano.
  20. I came home yesterday and wasn't in too much pain. This morning, though...WHAMO! I am in crazy pain! I'm also running a low grade fever. Is that normal?
  21. I'm scheduled for 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. Eeeeeek! I really hate that it's so late in the day, not just because I'm so anxious, but because I won't even be able to drink any water all day! Good luck to everyone tomorrow and later this week. Sending good vibes your way! ????
  22. Thanks for all the input! My 10 yr old is pretty self sufficient, but my 6 yo daughter still clings to Mommy and wants to climb on my lap, etc. I have several other illnesses, so my husband is already helping with the housework. I have a feeling I may get tired of him being at home with me the whole week ????.
  23. My surgery is Monday 12/8. My husband arranged to work from home for all of next week, should that be sufficient? When the 15th comes around, I'll have to be able to get my 10 year old & 6 yr old ready for school. They walk to & from, so I won't have to drive any where. I'm just wondering if I need to arrange for someone to come stay with me the second week home.
  24. Hey y'all! I'm December 8, too! Can you please add me to the FB group? jolenewoolley@yahoo.com
  25. Ugh, that's the problem. I cannot tolerate any artificial sweeteners, even Stevia is pushing it. So I'm really having a hard time finding something that works. I'm probably going to just end up putting unflavored in everything. ????
