  1. Thanks CowgirlJane lol ???? I know that ultimately i am solely accountable to keep healthy eating a priority, but i can always use that extra angel on my shoulder to give that extra bit of encouragement to avoid what i know shouldn't be part of my daily food intake ???? i want to bear down and hit my goal in the next 6 months.
  2. Your most important step was putting it out there with us, your community of normal people who are right here with you. We understand and support your honesty. Stay true to who you are and trust that you have people who will ALWAYS SUPPORT YOU!
  3. Feedyoureye I know for me the sleeve was the only WLS procedure my gastroenterologist would support as it does not involve re-routing the intestine. It also allowed me to have a horrible hiatial hernia that my gastroenterologist wanted me to have repaired for the last couple of years, finally corrected. Be well
  4. I know I tripped across a few others in the newbie forum, anyone here with Crohn's, as id love to know if u r in remission, etc a year or more after VSG.
  5. Yoga lady I had no idea. It's been 18 months for me. Gave up 6mp and Asacol. Still take Humira and Neurontin for Crohn's related spondylarthopy and Enthesitis which I don't mind at all. I'm actually ( dare I say it) enjoying constipation
  6. Not that I'm aware of but I am much improved from a frequency perspective.

    Pro's & Con's of gastric sleeve surgery?

Huge pro for me ( other than being down 135 with 1 year surgiversary coming up in June) is they also fixed a horrible hiatial hernia I had. So much better all around. Con constipation, but given i have Crohn's I welcome the weekly bm vs the 6-7 daily ones.

    1 Question for everyone

I feel the exact same way. I always had empathy for anyone who was obese as my mother and pretty much all in her family suffer from it. But now having been 135 pounds larger I see people suffering with it and my first thought is "OMG that poor thing" as a society I wish obesity was viewed as the true disease it is, and not as a weakness of character or that we are lazy , etc. food is an addiction you can not recover from but rather one you have to master and I feel my long term success is gonna involve a lifetime of respecting food and not making it my best friend again. Love to all of you in our wonderful community. The support I get here is top notch and helps to keep me focused and on the straight and narrow
  9. My hunger returned but not nearly like it was prior to my sleeve. Beef jerky, almonds and other nuts, flavored water (I like dasani drops) string cheese, a hard boiled egg. The point here is the quality of the snack, not the quantity. eating it slow and keeping hydrated. Post surgery I've needed to learn how to be smarter in overall food choices. Good luck

    1 Question for everyone

I've learned that I can now control food vs it controlling me.
  12. Sorry about the random appearing link to nothing. I'm still getting the hang of this app on my iPhone ????
  13. I'm thinking of going to a Soma in my local high end mall. Anyone been to Soma and are their bras better than the average one?

    Wake up call for all!

    Great article!
  15. Oh yeah, the appetizers. More and more that is all I order from when I eat out. Sliders without the buns, shrimp cocktail etc. if I'm in the mood for fish I order from the regular menu and ask that they not provide whatever rice or potatoes. They look at me oddly and some will state " you know it's the same price, right?" To which I nod my head yes and smile. I also get odd looks when i have what looks like an entire meal wrapped up to go. My husband laughs when they keep walking over to me asking " are you sure everything was ok?". I am truly enjoying my weight loss and this (I hope) forever way of eating
  16. Thanks Jenn1 I do feel like a success and will strive to continue my journey as I walk into year 2 of a great decision. I feel hopeful that in year 2 I will lose the last 30 and be at goal. ????

    So disappointed

@@kndoster you are doing an AMAZING JOB! Think of it this way, when was the last time you lost 14 pounds in a little over a month? Also, low carb may be your best bet. I eat no processed carbs, I.e. Breads, crackers, and no rice, potatoes, etc. I eat 2 servings of fruit and 2 servings of low carb veggies, I.e. No corn, potatoes, etc and no sugar. I concentrate on high protein, I.e. At least 20 grams per meal, and I don't count calories or fat, of course I'm not binging on fried foods, bacon, etc. Also fluids, are you getting in no less than 64 ounces per day? I don't care for plain water so I use the berry flavor dasani drops which has no sugar, and decaf herbal teas which I sweeten with stevia in the raw. You are new on this journey, and the weight you have lost between your pre op diet and since your sleeve is impressive. Go step by step and be confident that u are doing wonderfully!
  18. It's funny, as happy as I thought I was when I was heavier, pales in comparison to how happy I actually am now. These 11 points are so true

    Only losing 1lbs a day

Trust me, and everyone else here, little by little does the trick AND adds up faster than you think. You are doing great, so keep it up and post surgery get a moving too
  20. Only my immediate family, and no one else. None of their business. When they ask what I am doing I explain it's no carbs other than some fruit and veggies, no sugar, no soda diet or otherwise, lots of water and more activity., which not for nothing it is. The sleeve keeps me from eating way too much, and also helps me get through stalls that otherwise would just lead me back to eating garbage and feeling like a failure. The sleeve supports the knowledge that a stall is only a stall, and not my body "telling" me to give up because I won't lose. I am beyond thrilled at the results!
  21. BOCA Burgers are good in a pinch too,
  22. The Atkins meals do not come with noodles, potatoes, etc they come with a neat and veggie.
  23. Ok, there have been so many comments, and truly at the end if the day YOU know it isn't easy, and all you can do is lead by example, via proper eating, exercising, and a mental image of where you were and where you are going, enough said. Live for you, and the rest will follow, and if people dont get it, then they aren't your people. Congratulations on making one of the toughest decisions for yourself.
