Quest bars!
I probably shouldn't, but I use these as my "sweet". I'm stuck on the double chocolate chunk right now. They take care of me for wanting something yummy/sweet, and help a lot with making my Protein goal.

Considering weight loss surgery, need feedback from those who've had it.
Welcome! This site is a great resource. Glad you're doing your homework I would suggest going to more than one surgeon's seminar - if that's an option. It's also a good idea to talk to folks who have gone through it, as in go to the local support group. I know you'll get info from folks here, but talking in person to people, and hearing their experiences in that environment is useful, IMO. Some would say 40-50 lbs to lose isn't enough to justify the surgery. But everyone's situation is different. You have a bunch of health problems that *could* be rectified, or certainly improved, by WLS. It really comes down to whether you can live the lifestyle - for the rest of your life. Because I can tell you, it's as much of a head game as a physical change. In no way is it a magic cure. It takes constant work. Your relationship with food will have to change. But eating well is still a part of my life. I just don't curl up with a bag of chips, or bowl of ice-cream any more. I'll still go out for a nice dinner...I just have plenty of left overs I think I'd be a little concerned if the surgeon was pushing one type of surgery over another. It could be that he/she doesn't have experience in the others, but it's a red flag. You want to ask lots of questions about the surgeon's experience. Personally, I went with the sleeve. It was the best choice for me. So far it's worked out well, but I'm only 6 months out. In that time I've come off of my diabetes meds, and my diabetes is officially in remission. I was only on metformin for it and it was reasonably controlled. I've also just had the best blood panel results I've ever had. So I'm quite happy with my decision. You're doing the right thing by not just running blindly in to this. Ask us lots of questions - we love to share

STALLS
The way it was explained to me by my team is that it's your body taking time to adjust. It's under a lot of stress during this time. When it's ready, it will lose again.

STALLS
I've had a couple of short ones (3 weeks). My longest was 7 weeks. But it broke like the others. I think getting through that long one really instilled my faith in what I'm doing.

Bathing Suits
I got one on swimsuitsforall.com. It's a one piece with some support. They have lots on there, may be worth a look. The prices are reasonable, too. I wasn't going to pay $75 for one in the store...

August post op sleevers: Check in
My 6 mo appointment is next week. Drew the labs yesterday. I hope my numbers are good! I have to say I'm a bit frustrated. I had a long seven week stall that just ended about three weeks ago. Now it seems I'm in another stall. I really wanted to be closer to my goal at six months. But I know I'm better off now than if I'd not had the surgery. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say about my progress at the check up.

Her son is a real sweetheart and really loves his mom. She needs to learn some self-love and turn things around. Or she won't be around to see him grow up.

Does it get better?
It WILL get better - trust me Your new tummy is still swollen. The first month or so was the toughest for me. Then shortly after, things started getting more normal (a new normal ). You'll get the hang of not drinking with your meal and afterward for x-amount of time. You're going through the worst of it - hang in there...it's totally worth it.

Insure Nutrition
yes, you will hear from them. The process seemed a bit slow for me, but I' not sure if the Dr's office was the hold up submitting the script.

Does running get easier!?
Thanks! Makes perfect sense to me It just so happens I'm seeing my ortho in one week - a follow up from getting a cortisone shot in my right hip (bursa). It's been much better since then (hence the running). I can at least have him check out my knee and see if he'll send me for some PT.

Does running get easier!?
Thanks @@Chrystee @@deedadumble @@jess9395 I looked up the symptoms related to the IT band. It's the opposite of what I experienced. My pain is on the inside vs. the outside. hmmm. I have flat feet and I do have orthotics, although when I wear boots, etc. I don't use them. But I wear sneakers with them most days at work (yah, stylish I know - finding shoes that fit orthotics is a royal pain). Fortunately my knee has improved quite a bit from rest. That's a good thing I think. I plan to go get fitted for some running shoes in the very near future. I have a few options in my area (Marathon Sports, New Balance...). I think I need to do this before I do more running.

2 month stall
yup, sigh, 7 week stall just broke for me. This is my third, but longest, stall since surgery. It's just part of what happens. There are many things to try: increase Water, exercise, calories, etc. Different things work for different people. OR...it was going to break anyway. Who knows? All I know personally is that if I didn't have the sleeve, I would have given up and put weight back on by now. The sleeve lets me keep on truckin'. In the end I think it's just adhering to the plan that gets you through. Also, keep an eye on your measurements when this happens. You're typically getting smaller, although the scale won't budge. Good luck!!

How do you explain?
Welcome! Who folks decide to tell about their surgery plans varies greatly. It's a topic that I've seen come up many times. What it comes down to is tell (or don't tell) whom ever you chose. You're the one who has to deal with what comes with it. As far as convincing your friend, you won't. She'll either shut up about it and support you, or be a nag. If it were my friend, I'd tell her that the decision is mine and my dr's and put an end to it. Perhaps she's clueless that what's she's saying in NOT supportive, although probably comes from care and concern for you. As you said, you're doing this to be healthy. That's why I did it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. As you go through this there's going to be comments and questions. You are going to have to learn how to deal with all of that - seems to come with the territory. But it's SO worth it. Best of luck with your journey!

Does running get easier!?
You guys so inspirational I've just tarted mixing in some running (ok, jogging) in to my time on the treadmill. It really felt great afterwards. Unfortunately, my knee is not cooperating. I think it's the patella tendon yelling back at me. So now I'm resting it and applying ice at times. I hope this doesn't stop me from being able to proceed with mixing in some running! Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?

HELP! Stomach Acid!
I was told it's OK to take Tums. I would do that if I woke up feeling that way. I had (have?) acid problems and in addition to 20mg of protonix twice a day, I take 300mg of Zanac at bed time. I also cut out acidy stuff where I could. Hope you feel better. I would suggest calling your surgeon's office so your treatment can be adjusted. Don't want an ulcer!

I can cross y legs
Isn't it awesome?! Congrats!

Ladies - breast size difference post-op?
I was a 42C and am now a 36C, soon to be 34C. I'm happy they're going proportionately. Honestly, I hated them being in the way, so smaller = good for me. The only thing is I had curb feelers before surgery, and still do At some point, when I'm a year or more out and my weight is stable, I'm going to look in to a lift.

Too Small For Surgery
I agree with everyone...if you want it then pursue it. I was a "light weight". My surgeon said "you only have 86 lbs to loose, but that's NOT insignificant", then recommended the sleeve vs. the bypass. Your BMI is 40.9. I don't see why the NUT would discourage you from surgery. You know what's right for you. Don't let one nutritionist stop you. Good luck!
