Kooky1 got a reaction from Karenytrevision in Any Seattle/Tacoma Sleevers with surgeries approaching?
I am post-op, had surgery just this past Friday. So, I'm not really part of the group you are looking for, but I'm in Kent, Wa.

My point is that NONE of us are going to be 100% perfect in our eating all the time. For goodness sake, we have to LIVE. So you go on vacation and overdo it a little? Get back on track the next day. Just because you break one plate unloading the dishwasher, doesn't mean you have to break the rest along with it.....
I know I'm a noob and in the "honeymoon" period of my surgery. But I'm also looking at this long term. If, ONCE IN A WHILE, I let my hair down a little and have a good time, I'm going to try to make sure I'm getting right back on track as soon as possible.I KNOW it gets harder as time goes on. But if I'm making good choices 95% of the time, I know I have a chance of keeping the weight off. I don't know. Maybe some of you can bookmark this thread and throw it in my face in a year or two when I'm struggling with maintenance, lol. I only know what I know NOW.
UGH. Sometimes the holier than thou attitudes on here are too much.

Kooky1 got a reaction from Caribear in Don't like plain water anymore? Try Hint Water
I used to buy a similar product from Safeway. It was spring Water with a hint of fruit essence; no sugar or sweeteners added. So it was just Water with a touch of fruit flavor. They may have discontinued the Safeway brand, but I found a new product at Target last night.
It's called Hint Water. It's water with a hint of fruit. The cherry sparkling water was one of my things to try last week. I've tried the cherry and spring apple flavor; they're great. I also have peach in my fridge. Looking forward to trying it tomorrow.

I love Halo Top! I was prepared to be disappointed by it because other ice creams with similarly impressive nutrition stats taste like old snow with a bit of Splenda on top (like Arctic Zero), but was very pleasantly surprised. To restate the obvious, we're all unique with what hinders and what helps us in regards to weight loss. For me, rather than reasonable sweets being a slippery slope to a gluttonous overindulgence, it keeps me from running to the edge. I find it easier to abstain from other temptations knowing that I have something to satisfy my sweet tooth. I've been having dessert since having surgery, but just changed out my options. Instead of eating a brownie or a cookie, I'll have a popsicle, lemon bar (10 carbs from Trader Joe's), or Halo Top. I've actually found that I've lost more weight when the dessert is added in than when I've removed it. My calories had been too low, and when I started including Halo Top at night it helped to break a lengthy stall that I hit while trying to lose the last 20 pounds.
The half cup portion is perfectly satisfying to me. I've never eaten the whole pint in one sitting, though at 240-290 calories it wouldn't be that damaging. One of the perks of it for me is that you cannot just eat it right out of the freezer because of the consistency. You must let it sit on the counter for a while for it to soften to a creamy state. That prevents me from just taking a spoonful at a time (and eating the whole pint mindlessly). I always use a measuring cup and take out the serving, then put the carton right back into the freezer so I won't be tempted to get a second scoop.
I think having a portion size of Halo Top during the soft foods stage is sensible so long as the person isn't worried that it will trigger a desire to rush out and buy Ben & Jerry's or otherwise overdo it. My favorite flavor is oatmeal Cookie.

I agree. I also agree that this kind of response makes me not want to come here. I feel like there are a lot of veterans here that are tired of answering the same questions over and over and so their answers become snarkier and snarkier as time goes by. I would like to suggest that if someone (especially a newbie) posts something that really irritates you that you pause before posting or perhaps not post at all. So many threads here stop being conversations between adults and start being bashing sessions.
I really do appreciate the wisdom of the veterans.
I really don't appreciate seeing all the criticism in so many threads newbies post. It's old and tired and, like I said, makes me not want to come here.
And I say this as a person not new to message boards. I'm quite a veteran when it comes to message boards. There are ways to talk to people that doesn't come across so harshly.

Kooky1 got a reaction from Hollyhock in NSV shout outs
Sleeved 4/29. Weighed 287 at time of surgery. Not sure how much I weigh now, but I experienced my first NSV over the weekend. I had to fly home for my grandmother's funeral. I've never needed to use a belt extender but it usually was pulled to the hilt. Now, I was able to pull the strap back a few inches and the flight attendant was able to see the belt on my lap.

The thing I've learned (being 4 months out) is that it also depends on how I sit. I never truly realized how much I slouched until after this surgery. If I'm slouching while eating, I can't much in. When I sit up straight, I am able to get food down.

It's called ISOTECH 42. One bottle has 42 grams of Protein with 5 grams of carbs.
It's cheaper than Isopure and tastes great. I have tried Grape and fruit Punch. You can get them at Vitamin Shoppe.

You will have to find a bariatric center that has medical billing set-up otherwise the card will not go through. Not many of them have that, unless they have their billing company in the US.
I was able to pay, then had my FSA reimburse me.
