Hello everyone... I've been lurking on here for awhile but this is my first post. I'm 26 and from Chicago and have finally decided to take the steps to have bariatric surgery. Attended a seminar a Loyola University Medical Center that was very informative. I'm nervous but excited for what's to come in the future! I was wondering if anyone on here has experience with County Care Medicaid from Illinois? I've called them several times and other than knowing that they do cover surgery, I keep getting conflicting responses about qualifications or where I can go to have the surgery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I'm wondering how long the whole process takes. I just had my evaluation appointments. How long until they decide if you are accepted into their program and then how long after that was your surgery approved?

I finally got pre authorization from my insurance company and have completed appointments with the bariatrician, nutritionist, and psychologist. My 6 month medically supervised diet with be completed at the end of the month. The last step is to have an appointment with the surgeon. The scheduler called today and said that the surgeon is only in the office on Tuesdays and his next appointment is September 30! I was hoping all this could be wrapped up within a month or so but looks like that won't be happening. Has anyone had to wait that long for an appointment with the surgeon? Seems like 3 months is a long wait.
