    Depression 2 Months Out

May need to have B12 checked I have read several posts describing the blahs and needed to have vitamins adjusted.
  5. Hi msspiceybaby I cut back on my insulin because I was having so many hypoglycaemia episodes, I hate that feeling. When I started this journey in February I was 293 got to 283 and stayed there for a while, then started working with the NUT. The surgeon told me I needed to be at 262 before a date would be set, now at 255 give or take a pound. I am more afraid that something will happen at last minute to cancel the surgery then the surgery itself. But it is definitely very real now.
  6. Oct 7th also. No liquid diet required just a bowel prep same as for colonscopy. Did start a liquid diet last week but really messed up alot. So this week is serious. During the day no problem, but getting dinner for the kids are crazy. They are young and want me to eat the same thing as them, but this will help prepare them as well. Takes alot to get in all tge water and protein needed when I am feeling good cant imagine how difficult it will be after the surgery. Have down loaded new music to help and will use after surgery. There are quite a number of us in October.
  7. Wow you are all such an inspiration it is amazing how much younger everyone looks after loosing the weight. Not sure its the weight loss or just such a jubilation each one of you have. Sure hope I am as successful.

Sounds delicious, so glad it worked out for you, great choices.

    Feeling stuck :(

One thing my NUT talked yo me about was the amount of calaries that would need to be adjusted to loss or maintain. As you decrease your weight it takes fewer and fewer calaries to do everyday stuff like walking, dressing and that is when to visit your exercise plan and keep careful tract of your intake. You have done amazing.
  10. I haven't had my surgery yet but I keep reading what my NUT handed out, there is always a statement under each phase and tge foods you can eat saying if you cant tolerate stop and try again in another few days or week. This tells me each one of us is different and although allowed they may not be tolerated yet and to be patient. Of course this is alot easier then it sounds and I'm sure after October 7th I will have a whole new opinion lol.

    2 months post op

Happy birthday and let us know how you did with your dinner.
  12. Thank you Truckerchic, it is a good reminder that after surgery it is important to use all the tools and making wise choices and that everyone can find away to eat around the surgery and we each need to come to terms with that.

    October Buddies wanted

It wasnt the coffee I was concerned about but the daily aleve. I cut out all aleve, etc and adjusting with the joint point since tylenol doesnt really help. Hopefully as I loose wait and can exercise more tge joint pain will decrease or lol disappear.
  14. So glad to hear you are doing well. Keep up the good work. I am not far behind you, surgery will be October 7th.

    When to start exercising

I was suppose to have it in Sept but insurance changed criteria so now scheduled Oct. 7 two more weeks. Let me know how your surgery goes, as it gets closer I get a little more nervous. Did you need to do a preop liquids?

    October Surgery Date

Beni love your idea of helping the hostess and talking who would notice what uou are eating or not eating lol. I also like the idea of reading the menu ahead of time I actually did start doing that on a smaller scale when trying to get down to my required surgical weight, that and the fitness pal helped alot.

    The Aftermath

When I lost over 100 lbs (without surgery) the questions and comments were endless hiw did you do it what are you eating, how long has it taken you. I remember once when asked how did you do it for the 300th time I answered you know jelly rolls, bagels, and ice cream. But i realized that people were genuine in their wanting to know so after that I tried to more patient. Funny but a year ir so later when the weight was all coming back on no one ssid a word. I guess what I am trying to say is prrpare yourself because it will happen, maybe coming up with a standard line like low carbs and exercise because in reality without that piece the wls will not be successful.

    Finally on the right road

You are an inspiration. I too was wondering if I might be too old for this surgery, sixty. I was kinda surprized when my endocrinologist suggested it, I was taking six injections of insulin and on 160 units as a starting dose each day and still couldnt keep my glucose levels under 200. So when I heard I wasnt too old I was both happy and skeptical. After hearing your journey and others on this site my skepticism is gone. Slow cooking peppers, sausage, and meatballs all night!!!!!! That is grounds for temporary insanity you would never be found guilty of course you may need a jury of all wls peers. But seriously you got through it without even a taste great job!!!!!

Amy what described is what I am alittle concerned about post op almost all socialization is centered atound food. I dont think that will change after surgery, so how do you deal with food everywhere and not finding slider foods. It must have been so much fun spending that time with your daughter and boyfriend. Beni I only tried a sample of it at a group NUT class and it was pretty good, plus it was warm and savory not sweet at all which I think after surgery will be comforting.

I will do full liquids. I also bought the unjury protein chicken broth that I will use now too. I will use protein shakes to get in 90 gms of protein and 64 oz of fluids. I love tomato soup so I will use that ad well. I also bought chai tea bags that are good even without sugar. The smell just makes me relax and feel good. I also have a freezer full of sugarfree icepops but the kids have been eating them more then me they like them better then their s lol. I will start the liquid diet on Monday and surgery the following Tuesday. I keep waiting for something to happen, I wont believr it till I am actually in the OR.

    Something funny

Lol that is so cute.... Squishy. My grand kids always fall asleep on me ... I wonder if they still will when I'm not like a big pillow.
  24. I am scheduled for a bypass on 10/7 my daughter, 30 wanted to know if I was going shopping before or after surgery. I told her I wasnt sure what she meant and she went on to ask if I knew what size they were making me? Making me! Lol obviously she had the wrong idea about the surgery.

Hi thanks Beni. I am having the gastric bypass. I thought I would be having the sleeve but when I met with the surgeon he recommended the bypass due to type 2 diabetes and insulkn requirements. At first I was really concerned about bypass but the more reading I did and reading of the posts here I am glad he recommended bypass. My surgeon does not require a preop diet just a prep like for a colonoscopy but I have decided to do the two week diet because I kinda fell off the wagon and started eating whatever. Not good so I will do the 2 week liquids for my preparation. My goal is 145. About 10 years ago I lost over 100 pounds and was down to 130 not sure if that is realistic again so 145 and anything less is a bonus. I actually had to move this past year just to move into a one level because I could not do the stairs anymore. I feel sometimes I am depriving the girls of many activities because of my weight it will feel good to want to go to the park and do more then watch, and look for things happening around town without finding every excuse not to go. Will you be doing the two week diet?
