ANGRY! Doctor rescheduling my 7/1 so he can take a 2-week vacation
I ended up making some grown-up noises, and I was set back for June 26, next Thursday. I'm delighted.

Found decent protein shot
I found Isopure Gel in a squeeze Pouch, and it's pretty good! It seems like it would be perfect for when I am too weak to chew/swallow post-op. http://www.netrition.com/metrx_iso20_gel.html 20g Protein 0g Sugar 0g Fat

HELP I'M STARVING!
The first three weeks, the hunger pains woke me at night! It was brutal. At week four, I actually realized that I couldn't even a half-sandwich, my body was revolting the excess! It really begins to happen, but with extreme hunger at first. I'm on week five and looking forward to surgery next week.

Best heating pad under <$20
Asking for suggestions for RNY next week. I have a crappy $10 heating pad that really disappoints. Thanks

That's it. I'm done. How do I disable food ads on FaceBook and Hulu? I don't mind ads for laundry detergent, cars, paper towels, and Auto insurance.... HELP!

Albany, New York....?
I got a call at the end of Friday's business day from Ellis Bariatric, rescheduling my RNY from 7/1 to 7/7. I have a very busy work schedule, and this date was set a month ago. I cleared my calender, made plans, prepared foods.... I am LIVID! Turns out that they really couldn't care less about the patients, and do not accommodate. I have requested a reassignment to any other surgeon who can stick to the 7/1 date. So far no answer. I am so mad, that I am considering asking to be referred to another Bariatric center (AMC, St. Peter's) Honestly, I no longer care who does it. I just need it done, so that I can go on with my life on August 8th, as planned. Any advice for moving from office to office? Will they literally force me to start the process all over again? I already have insurance approval, lost the pre-op weight, and got medical clearance from my PCP. Gosh, I'm furious.

Work Travel 4 weeks post-op? Terrified
Wow, you're all so helpful with this. The fact that I can easily work myself into a fury does not contribute. I think the bigger issue is the exhaustion (because I know I pass out from weakness after surgery, been there done that). This is the peak of my emerging career, a very important conference presentation. I don't want to pass out from overdoing it. The final concern is the social aspect. At conferences, you meet up delightful people at mealtimes. I look forward to meeting all these people and getting to know them. If I have to LEAVE campus (after paying $250 for a week of food), and return to nibble some lunchmeat, then I worry that my eating 'habits' will become a spectacle, rather than the content of my presentation. Gakkkkkk, I'm just so nervous.

Is being frustrated normal?
I have been in the foulest of moods in the last two days. I'm at week four of the pre-op starvation diet. (hugs)

Hello there July 7th anyone?
I was set for 7/1 and doctor rescheduled for the 7th. I am devastated (disrupts so many pre-planned stuff on my schedule) and will spend all Monday trying to convince them to switch me to a different surgeon who can stick to the 1st as planned.

Is it Asthma, or the extra weight?
I went to my PCP on Thursday for pre-op medical clearance, and learned that the Water retention, high blood pressure, shortness of breath and chest pains, is possible ASTHMA! Rather than my heart. He said that I exhale like a severe asthmatic. As I sit here going through my life history, I am always thought that I was unable to 'breathe' after doing stuff (or singing), because I was always overweight. Now I am starting to rethink it, and am just in shock. Did anyone find out about unforseen medical issues when going for pre-op testing? Also, the real question - whill the 'asthma' vanish when the weight is lost?

What was uour system for getting in fluids the first week out?
I prepared chicken broth in 1-liter soda bottles for post-op. I also purchased a 2 oz. mini measuring cup and a pack of 1 oz. party shot glasses. I plan to set a timer, microwave the broth in the measuring cup, and drink it from the 1 oz shot glass or the measuring cup when 2 oz. are allowed. I plan to take my own broth to the hospital, since it is so much more nutritious and packed with Protein.

Tell me more. Is body order stronger during weight loss? I'm not sure I understand.

Work Travel 4 weeks post-op? Terrified
Groan. I'll be staying for one week at the UCLA campus, I don't suppose I'll see any chefs there willing to blend a cafeteria cheeseburger. I'm just so upset that the surgeon bailed on me, when I had it all organized to the last hour. I'm trying to calm down. I refuse to check frozen foods. I don't want to worry about getting them refridgerated in time, messing with microwaves 4" from a dorm bed.... Argggggggg

Work Travel 4 weeks post-op? Terrified
My doctor (@#$%^&*) rescheduled my 7/1 surgery because he wants to have a longer July 4th vacation! This means that when I fly on 8/8 for an important conference, I will not be on solid foods yet. This is a tremendous hurdle and anxiety for me. I'd be hauling frozen prepared pureed foods, possibly confiscated by security.... and be weak and unable to lug my rolling suitcase. Even worse, heating up pureed mush in a conference motel room on the other side of the country. I am miserable... but reaching out to ask if anyone has had important things in life that came up four weeks post-op and how it went. Thank you.

ANGRY! Doctor rescheduling my 7/1 so he can take a 2-week vacation
I have an 8/2 flight to give a presentation at a conference on the other side of the country, and must be on regular foods by the time I leave. I timed the surgery for 7/1 for right after I finish teaching in June, and be recuperated by my August work. They just called to reschedule for 7/7. That means I would have to be a month after surgery to fly and I am LIVID! LIVID!

Pre-op face-stuffing food funeral
What the heck is wrong with me? I lose almost 20 lbs pre-op, have a final weigh-in on Monday, and I just sat down for my first facestuffing contest with chips, licorice, and soda? Who is this person? I've been going so strong for a month now! JITTERSSSSSSSSS

Just took pre-op photos in my underwear...
LOL, sadly, it does.

Just took pre-op photos in my underwear...
...and grossed myself out. Any other suggestions for pre-op photos that are tasteful and can help keep me motivated in this journey?
