Got laid off 1st day back to work from surgery

Wow,, just wow...I can't believe he said that after your surgery. I bet something better is in the cards for you. Look at it as an opportunity for a great change. You will be changing inside and out as it is...here's to the new you!!!

    Need size 14 clothes!

Starts at $35 a month...what does it go up to? This is a great idea, btw. How many outfits for 35 bucks?

    Gas & Bloating :(

Yeah, I couldn't handle the vitamin's either. Talk to your surgeon about getting on a different brand. The Iron in a certain bariatric brand was just too much for me. I cook in iron pans, so...I think I get a lot from that alone. Gas in the beginning is bad in general, though. And noisy.

    Almost Flunking my C25k? Rats!

Try Zombies Run (game) app...very fun...you basically have to run from zombies...if they catch you, you lose things and have to start over in the game. You get to listen to your music inbetween the story line while running/walking. Not sure if android has it, though.

    Diet and exercise

Low carb with fun exercise seems to work for me. Just finished Zumba on my DVD player....so much fun! Forgot I was exercising. Find something you like, and look up recipes on sites like food.com. My Fitness Pal helps too. Pain to log it all, but you really see what your habits are that way...helps to see where you can change things. You have lost 22 pounds already...you are doing great! When I stalled on the scale, I lost inches on my waist....like, literally my pants started to fall off me while I was shopping one day. It will happen :-)

Hi all, 59 years and starting a new life!

How are you feeling? The shoulder pain is the worst...it gets sooo much better towards the end of week 2. Heating pad and gas x helps a lot.
  7. Tried Zumba for the first time tonight..loved it! I can do this kind of workout daily. Feel like I'm learning sexy dance moves. Ha!

I love that song! Haha! I was suprised it was fun from a home DVD. I was expecting it to be cheesy. I'm sure it looked cheesy if anyone had been watching me..lol.

  8. Almost there!! You will do great! I remember waking with a sore throat and feeling like I was punched in the gut...as soon as I moaned, more morphine was administered...and I hardly felt much...had to force myself to suck on ice chips, as the throat was the worst in the beginning. Walk around as soon as you are able. Take your pain meds when at home. Walk, walk, walk...at least 15-20 min every hour during the day, and if you have a recliner...sleep in that for the first week :-). Helps with the pain and getting up is much easier. It gets better by the day...expect the worst swelling 4-5 days out. Using a heating pad helped the shoulder gas pains...gas x chewables seemed to help too. You will be fine, but we are all here if you need us!

    New to group.

*Waves* welcome to the other side!
  10. I had 5 cc as well...my first fill they put .2 cc....so now I have 5.2 cc. It helped me not hit the three week stall...thats for sure.
  11. I used this site a lot...although some things didn't work well for me, like the hash...I had 5cc in my band at surgery, and I really couldn't eat certain things from the get go. But! The ricotta bake was ok...just watch how thick the cheese is you melt on it. Always chew, chew, chew. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html
  12. so I tried on some size 18 pants...and they freaking fit! Say whaaat?! I have been not losing as fast as before..yet the inches are coming off!

Success is what YOU make it!

You look beautiful! You are proof the "ideal weight" charts are hogwash. I can't wait to be where you are now! :-)
  14. This is normal...focus on healing right now...solids will come soon enough. Do you have any fill in the band? If you don't it may take a couple fills before you feel satisfied on small amounts. This surgery definitely requires a bit of patience..just know it will happen :-) I know certain foods filled me up quick during mushies...refried Beans was one of the best...riccotta cheese bake was another one.

    Intense hiccups

I was wondering about that nerve. I was reading somewhere that they have found stimulating that nerve causes weight loss. It works by making you not hungry. I definitely think that nerve is being stimulated in my diaphragm area. I always wondered what the point of hiccups were...it now seems to have a point since I've been banded....Its like my diaphragm feels what I eat from outside my stomach and is trying to get rid of anything cold or annoying. It's kinda embarrassing when it happens...the hiccups are loud! I'll ask my surgeon about it next time I see him. I don't think there is any fixing it...it just is what it is.

    Mudderella!

He is jealous...or it may have been this guy's way of complimenting you for being a strong woman! I can't wait to do mudders!

    LADIES

I do...especially towards the end of it. I couldn't eat much till dinner on those days. I get swollen eveywhere during that time...my rings get tight, my face gets puffy...so it makes sense.

WLS has made me a judgemental jerk!

Everyone has been judgmental of others at some point...EVERYONE. It is human nature, people...sheesh. I can't believe folks on here are lecturing someone for a "bad thought". The thoughts surprised her, so she came here for advice. My advice is; as long as your thoughts stay internal, and you don't force your opinion on others...just let the thought occur, and then let it go. You are human, my dear...it is normal. What is not normal is perfection. None of us are perfect. Don't over analyze it. Life is too short! A judgmental thought does not make a bad person....period. The fact you knew it was "mean" and are worried enough to get on a forum for help, tells me you have a good conscience and are a good person. Don't dwell on it....let negative thoughts roll off you like Water off a duck's back. Same with negative people...don't feed the drama...shrug them off and carry on :-)

    Banders Exercise

Walked/speed walked 1.32 miles on hilly/rocky terrain. The hills are a workout all their own!

    Problems swallowing

I felt like that when I was really swollen...it effects the throat too. It happens if I irritate it by not chewing all the way...or when I had a bit too much of a fill. Takes awhile for it to go away...with my fill...it never went away, so I had a small unfill, and all is good. Did this just start happening to you?

    Banders Exercise

Thanks for the advice! I decided to just walk using the C25K program. I speed walk during the jog portions. So far I am on week 1 Day 3. I was trying to do too much before. Just wasn't ready for it. So, taking it easy and walking my way back into shape. Hope to start running and weight lifting as I get better at consistency. :-)
  24. I was so scared the day of...wondering what I was doing...lol...you will be alright :-)
