I'm not *too* stressed actually. I'm more stressed about whether or not I have any money left on my flexible spending card to pay for the $50 specialist copay! It's just funny, I always know that his scale is going to be 4lbs higher than mine. So I wanted to be in the low 240s so that his still registered me as being in the 240s. Ya know?! Being in the 240s for this visit is a personal goal of mine based on where I feel I should be progress-wise.
Also, I'm sure we all weigh in on our at home scales post morning poop when we are the lightest! My appointment is 4pm, post brekkie and lunch!

So tomorrow I go to my surgeon's office for my (belated) 3 month follow up (Not my fault, the man only sees patients on Tuesday afternoons). As of this morning I am at 244 lbs. Which means his scale will weigh me at 248 because it is a jerk. LOL. i plan on wearing the lightest clothing item I can find in my closet to counteract this.
I don't know what it is about the official weigh ins/office visits that turns me into some kind of paranoid freak. But on the bright side, I get to leave work early and can make it to the gym before the PM rush.

JJ, everything fell back into place after I lost the bulk of my weight. I'm only 10 months out but am almost done losing. I will say that I definitely need my inner thighs done and would like to have a lower body lift at some point, but that's only to look better with clothing off. In my clothes my sags and bags are hidden very nicely in shape wear but I want to look good in a swim suit. What happens with you will definitely depend on how long you've been heavy and how heavy you are to begin with. You're 30 also so you have age on your side

Not a thin skin but this challenge is part of our journey. It was started to motivate, encourage and support each other through this part of our journey. I thought this forum was meant to help each other in anyway possible through our journey. And in my opinion I think the challenge is doing just that. If you are pre-op the challenge show you where you can be at. If you look at the folks that are part of the challenge... You will see they are from all phases of the sleeve from the beginning and further. I think it is unfortunate you didn't get that. And my apologizes since I'm the starter of the challenge that I'm not allowing you to get what you want from this forum.

I definitely am worried about the hair. My support group leader said that African Americans don't usually have the Hair loss. I want to know if that is true.btw I am ruin yt.

Any time you up your workouts your body is going to react. Typically by holding onto the weight. At least for a little bit. You need to off set that by upping your calories/getting a bit more Protein and carbs. I always try to get up above 1000 calories on my workout days (It does not always happen, but I try). That seems to work well for me because since I've done that the losses have been steady.

I think everyone is going to be a little different as to how much and how soon the weight comes off. I have been losing at a pretty good rate so far but my nutritionist told me to expect it to slow down at some point. The Dr. told me well ahead of the surgery to expect about 70% of my overage to be lost the first year, and then slowly after that.

I am still in the challenge, however, I have not been doing my walking/exercising this week...but I am doing well with my food and lost an additional 5 lbs this week. This brings me to a total of 31 lbs lost since my surgery on 6/30/14 - so I am pretty excited about that...
I need to incorporate some kind of exercise regimen as I know I could have lost a lot more

    Good morning Challengers,
I just wanted to come on and say "I am so excited my weight is coming off". I am now down to 213 and I am praying I reach my goal before October 1. (Funny how we become greedy when we see things moving better than expected...LOL.) It is crazy I went to my cousin's wedding on Saturday and I woke up to a 1.6lb loss. I guess it was the dancing and the high Protein meal. Whatever it was... I am saying thank you JESUS! Today, I am working out and hope to put some miles on my belt this week.
I hope everyone have a great day!

I am a 40 year old black man and I just switched insurance. I had Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City through my job and they didn't cover anything no matter what. I am 5'8 313 and started my new insurance plan today. Hopefully things will go better. I'll keep y'all posted. I have seen a lot of black women posting but not manybbpack men and I know we are out there

I haven't popped in in awhile. I got these swim paddles you wear on your hands, and now because of them I can swim the entire length of the pool without wanting to die (and stop half way down). It's the little things. I feel like my strength and endurance are really improving. Also, my shoulders look pretty good.
I also had to suck it up and buy new jeans. No one likes jeans with a baggy ass, and mine were to the point where no disguising and artful draping was going to make them look good anymore. So off to Ross I went for some cheap smaller jeans. And I also found a bottle of sugar free vanilla Syrup for $2. Hope everyone had a fab weekend!

First, I want to start with the positives and work my way down: (1) This week I am going to meet my goal for the number of days working out. I worked out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and I am going today (4 days this week) - and a strong possibility I will workout Sunday; (2) I started a trainer this week. I worked out with him on Tuesday (I did bad but the goal is to get better) and I am working out with him again today. (Yay Fitness ). Also, I am really excited about seeing my shape come back in (I can see my collar bone, my waistline going in, my clothes are smaller and my shoes are smaller).
Okay, not so positive - I only walked a recorded 4 miles this week. I did do the stairmaster but I did not know how to record the miles walked. I fixed that I downloaded an app to the my iphone. So, hopefully next week my miles will be better.
Now about my co-challengers.... you gals and now guy are the boom.... Yay us for being accountable!

Can I join?! :-) Just signed up today but I've been lurking for a while, been in the thinking stage and am now actively pursuing insurance approval. So it's time to come out of hiding!
I'm 42, 5'11, and 300 lbs. I'd like to get to 165ish. Maybe 175. Weight problem started in my mid-20s and I reached my highest in 2009 (330). I'd gotten down to 260 last year but yeahhhh. I have autoimmune disorders and the extra weight has become a real issue for my joints. It's gotta go. My doctors are fully supportive and my insurance requirements are very straightforward, so we expect all that's between me and surgery is the medically-supervised 90 day diet rule. Have my 60 day check in appointment on the 15th and my first surgical clinic session on the 18th. Exciting stuff!
    Luck and good to all!

Hmm.. I did not make the connection until I read this. I am a little over 3 months post op and my tummy is very noisy all of a sudden for the last couple of days. I have also lost 3 pounds in last 4 days. That is a lot faster for me. My rate of loss had been slow so far.
