    African American Sleevers

Hello All, I have not been on here in a while and thought I should be more involved. So latterly, I have started eating sweets again. I am trying to get a handle on it but I have been eating sweets (hard candy) and chips again. I have still even with the sweets and chips been staying within my calories and getting my protein in but I just think I need to refocus. I still workout 5 days a week (3 with a trainer and 2 at gym doing solely cardio). My weight loss has slowed down a lot but I am still losing with no gains. This month I think I only lost around 9lbs (not sure) but I need to get it together because I still have a long journey ahead of me. 9lbs away from first major goal and 29lbs away from overall goal - and I am approximately a little over 7 months out.

You look absolutely fantastic! I can not wait to see 150lbs. I am 13lbs away from my first big goal 180lbs then I am on to my final goal of 150lbs. What are you doing exercise and eating wise?

The best decision of my life was to have the sleeve! I'm now a little over six months and with the help of my sleeve and trainer.... I can now truly see my results. I'm so thankful! Sleeved:4/14/14 (300lbs) - CW: 193

@@aloudwhisper, I didn't realize you are from Maryland as well. Did you have your surgery at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore? They have a great support group on Monday and every other Monday.

Okay, today was the final day for me to reach my goals of 100 miles and down to 200lbs. No dice on either fronts - close but not there! It is okay because it is really all about changing my old ways into new ways; working to make myself better and making wiser decision when it comes to food and exercise ---- I am doing all of those things. Plus 17lbs in 2mos is pretty good. No complaints.... Just on to my next goal of 180lbs! Sure, but what information would you like? Can you elaborate on what exactly you would like to know?

It is not about posting for the challenge. To me it is more about encouragement to us all! I think most (if their last result was to have the surgery) have had enough of the negativity. I come to this group and other groups for positive reinforcement and support. I just think it is unfortunate because some people don't get what they want they complain and create conflict where none should exist. We all needed change in the way we think, eat, exercise and so on.... so anything encouraging change should be welcoming.

Not literally cursing but I curse my trainer out all of the time. He told me he like it because he know the workout is challenging to me if I'm cursing him out...lol. Yes, I love the mapmyfitness. You're so ahead of me... I am working on the running thing. My endurance and breathing sucks. And gym working out tricks you to think you are working out more than you are. I need to get outdoors and test my body.

it is the 1st of October....lol.... misspoke! @@blackbeautywaiting, I think any little thing works. If you're not able to go out and walk/run put your mapmyfitness on and clean your whole house. The best workout ever:) and you have a clean house. I can't help with the workout buddy thing. I like working out alone because that way if someone switch-up and don't want to go... it doesn't force me to change my mind because my workout buddy isn't working out. Lately, most of my workouts have been with my trainer and I go to the gym twice a week to get in major cardio. I sometimes do this 5mil walk outside also. On the 4th of October, I signed up for the Run or Dye. It is a 5k and people throwing dye at each other. Something silly but fun to get me out there working out. I am almost six months out (Oct. 14) and I can say I loss like 3-5lbs a month too. But that's okay I plan to stay on the program. I know one of my problems is that 35 calorie smart popcorn. My sleeve lets me eat a much as I want... not good!

    African American Sleevers

Good morning all and Happy Friday, I know over the week I have read comments about some being disappointed about the challenge that's been going on in the African American SUPPORT group. I just want to say it is somewhat dis-hearting to me that we don't support each other through this process. I think at times individuals get lost in what they want and not what others may need or want. Since, I've actively been coming to this group I've never seen in-depth conversation about what each of us have experienced. Since, I have come to this group I have not seen continuous communication in this group. Since the challenge if not just for one day we all were coming back to support each other by just a simple update and post. I think its unfortunate some people don't realize that the support they may need may not be the type of support others may need. For example with me I track everything, I follow the doctors’ orders, I work the program and I workout continuously but sometimes I get discourage because the scale is not moving. The challenge was holding me accountable.... reminding daily that I need to get my Protein in, I need to get my Water in, I need to work out and not miss sessions with my trainer because I had to report in to those involved in the challenge. I just think it is unfortunate individuals would rather complain verses finding it in themselves to support those that decided (not saying you had to participate) to participate in the challenge but at the same time pose questions and concerns they are going through. When I start something I like to finish. I started participating in this challenge on this forum and the last day is Oct. 30th and I plan to finish what I started regardless if some are upset about it. I support each and every person on this forum because I personally know the difficulties of weight loss with the surgery, without the surgery and staying consisted and motivated to workout regularly (which are the key elements to your weight loss journey when having bariatic). it sad because I like this group but I'm rethinking continuing to come to this group after I finish the challenge. African American Sleevers

This week was a very emotional week for me for some reason. I was in the mood of I don't feel like doing anything but sleep. So, I would go to work and come home and good to bed. So, I did not workout Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. I finally got myself together Wednesday and had a great workout. I had my trainer yesterday and man did my slacking off show. I am going to continue to follow the program as I have been doing. I am also going to try and increase my daily intake of Protein. Hopefully, that will make a difference... Target: 100 miles SW: 219 GW: 200 Total Loss: 12lbs Remaining: 7lbs Total Miles: 61.61 Remaining to reach Goal: 38.39 August 8th - Miles: 4 CW: 215 August 15th - Miles: 9 CW: 213 August 22nd - Miles: 12.1 CW: 214 August 29nd - Miles: 10.93 CW: 213 Sept. 5th - Miles: 12.61 CW: 209 Sept. 12th - Miles: 12.97 CW:207 Sept. 19th - Miles: 3.81 CW: 207 (really 208 - gained a lb - don't know how because I eat no where near 3,000 calories) Sept. 26th - Miles: CW Sept. 30th - Miles: CW

SCREAMING THE scale IS NOT MOVING AGAIN! It seems every month I go through the same thing. For the 1st two weeks of the month - nothing and then the 2nd half I loss consistently and then I start again at the being of the next month. My scale is still sitting still. I am definitely not going to make it to my goal by October 1st or the way things look maybe not even by the time I go back for the 6 month check-up. I have decided not to weigh myself anymore this week because its crazy. One positive is I am losing inches like crazy. I went dress shopping and I am fitting into some 12s - for the last couple of months I have been a solid 14. I guess I should be happy with my results so far. In two months, I loss like 12lbs.

This is normal. I went through this but my appetite came back after 4 months. I now can eat more but it's still hasn't reached 1200 calories a day. I many eat between 600-800 calories a day. Also, overtime the weight loss will taper off.
