    Calling all August Sleevers!

I am scheduled for August 18th. I started stocking the shelves with broth, sugar free jello and pudding, and a variety of protein drinks. I also went to GNC and got chewable multi vitamins and chewable B12. A good blender is next on my list.

    August Sleevers Check In

August 18th for me too!!! It seems so far away still, but I know it will be here in no time. The excited and nervous emotions keep switching places. I feel like there is so much to do to prepare.

    August 2014 sleevers!

Just got my date, August 18th!!!! So excited and nervous. I only started the process in mid May, so I feel very lucky it moved along so fast.
  7. Just got my date, August 18th. One of the biggest thing I am worried about is getting enough water, I hate the taste (or lack of) water. I am trying to prepare for this as much as possible mentally, emotionally, and practically. I can drink water fine, as long as it has some flavor in it, infused water is great. I haven't read anywhere if it is ok or not. My idea was to prepare lots of little zip locks with cut up fruit like lemons, strawberries, limes, peaches, oranges, cucumbers, ect. Then freeze them so I just had to pull a bag out the night before and the next day I have my full pitcher of water to drink. Anyone know if this is ok or not? There isn't any sugar added and you aren't eating the fruit.
  8. I just got my date yesterday, August 18th for me!!! I am 45, 5'11" and 310 lbs. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I have actually told several people, and had nothing but positive feedback so far, not that I was looking for any. The only people I am concerned about their opinion is my husband and my children. They are all supportive because the have seen my struggle first hand and have lived the yo-yo diets with me. I am so excited to get my life back. I have not been over weight my whole life, and I don't even know who I am anymore. For me it is like I will be getting a new start at life again. I can't erase the last 15 years, but I can make changes now so the next 30 are better. I made the decision to do this for my physical health of course, but for my mental health too. I am ready to get off of this circle race track that keeps going around and around in the same circle, 20 lbs off = 30 lbs on, 40 lbs off = 50 lbs back on. Like a roller coaster, lots of highs and lows, ups and downs, but the same circle over and over. No one knows the hell that goes on in your head when you feel like you can't even control your own body and the failure you feel every time you take 2 steps forward, to only fall 4 steps back. I am so luck to be married for 26 years to my best friend and one of the most supportive people I know. He has loved me through thin and thick, happy and depressed. I am not only doing this for me, but for him also. He deserves someone better then what I have been able to give him. Both our children moved out last year and we are empty nesters. Life has been so full of adventure so far, but my weight has definitely been a factor in holding us back in some of the things we can do. I can't wait to start this new adventure with him and see what kind of adventures we can do together.
  9. I have chosen to do everything differently then I have in the past. My whole family is excited for me, they know what a struggle it has been. My daughters first concern was what happens when people start to notice? I am a private person, and the minute people start to notice any weight loss and make comments, it irritates me and I give up. I don't understand for the life of me why people think it is encouraging to comment on any weight change, up or down. I have decided to tell people from the start, that way I won't get as many questions after. I am so excited about this new path I am taking, and the last thing I want to do is let people who don't matter derail this train! What they think doesn't matter, and I just have been saying so. This is a decision that my husband and I have made, together. Other then that I don't need anyone else's opinions.
  10. The dr office is submitting to my insurance next week. They are saying they would schedule for first part of August if everything comes back ok. I just turned 45, and can't wait to get this new journey started. I am currently at 310 and 5'11". I am getting the sleeve.

    Question on timeline

My seminar and Dr consult was May 22, 2014. Because of some cancelations I was able to squeeze in for a psych evaluation and nutrition consult right away. They will be submitting to my insurance next week. What I thought was to be a long drawn out process went very fast, so far. Figures crossed!
