  1. Your new stomach expands and also empties quite quickly. I was told to eat that amount in 30 minutes, if I can't finish or feel full STOP. Every doc/nut is different. The take away is if you feel full stop, chew very well, take your time, no drinking.

Congrats on the weight loss! I am one week postop and have lost 14 lbs in 3 weeks (2 of those weeks were the liquid preop diet). I'm assuming the more you weigh the more you loose? But a normal range seems ~5lbs per week on average.

  2. 1/2 cup of velvety black bean Soup. Going to the movies tonight and wishing I could have popcorn...movie theatre popcorn is the best :-( I know it will likely be at least a year before that is even possible.

You should try a few pieces of popcorn, just chew them up real well.

I ended up bringing a Protein shake and some plain hummus. Not the greatest movie experience without the popcorn. But once I got into the movie I forgot about the Snacks. I was actually considering buying popcorn chewing and spitting- then I realized how ridiculous I was behaving. I'm only 5 days post op so prob not the greatest idea for me to eat popcorn even if it's only a few pieces. Worried about a bowel obstruction or overindulging and stretching my stomach.

  3. i have to echo what everyone else is saying, had surgery 6/4 so 4 days postop. It does get better every day. A little more energy a little less pain. My gas pains were pretty bad too. And just burping or coughing or sneezing is painful. But I am noticing I am better able to differentiate between fullness and pain. Good luck everyone!

  4. I think I posted my question to the wrong spot to begin with....Anyway, I am 4 days post op and I am sick of the sweet stuff. I have been told to be on liquids for 3weeks before I go to Phase 2 but this is crazy. Purchased canned Soups are high in sodium and low in Protein. In my after carre papers I can't have black Beans yet, greek yogurt maybe once or twice a week but its the main "dinner" liquids that I'm frustrated with. chicken noodle Soup minus the noodles can only be good for so long. I'm staying away from sugar free products because of the Aspertaime in them and I was as close to clean eating as I could get prior to surgery so I'm having a really hard time coming up with ideas, recipes high in Protein and low in the other stuff....Anyone have any ideas???

Hi, I too am 4 days post op and sick of the sweet stuff. I went to trader joes and purchased 2 different carton soups and mixed both. One is black bean, one is corn/red pepper. They are both velvety smooth consistency so no straining necessary. 4grams protein per serving. It's spiced quite nicely. Highly recommend.
