I'm two weeks postop and just starting the zombies 5k run app. Also doing strength training (mostly arms and legs). No swimming till July.

    tape and tape marks everywhere

At your first appt with your surgeon, he will give you (or ask for some!) adhesive remover. They come in these little vials you have to snap, and it is a little applicator with a gauze tip. Just keep blotting and it wipes away!
  5. Wow thanks this video was very informative!

    Hair falling out

What if you are getting 60gr protein per day. Will your hair still fall out? I'm postop week one.

    Where do you find comfort?

@@superbariatricbabe I'm one week postop and looking to find new coping mechanisms other than food. The first few days all I wanted to do was order chinese...I was stressed (we are moving too..so our place is chaos) and felt.. naked, like there was nothing that could console me. Hoping new outlets will be exercise (jogging, hiking, tennis, swimming, biking...).. but what else??! good luck!
  8. Your new stomach expands and also empties quite quickly. I was told to eat that amount in 30 minutes, if I can't finish or feel full STOP. Every doc/nut is different. The take away is if you feel full stop, chew very well, take your time, no drinking. Congrats on the weight loss! I am one week postop and have lost 14 lbs in 3 weeks (2 of those weeks were the liquid preop diet). I'm assuming the more you weigh the more you loose? But a normal range seems ~5lbs per week on average.

    1 week post RNY

It could also be gas. I find that when I eat SF popsicles or anything that contain sugar alcohols, a couple hours later I have horrible bloating/cramping/gas pain. Excessive gas can create a lot of pressure buildup in your stomach and intestines. Hope you feel better!

what precipitated the cramping? Eat too fast? overexertion (excessive walking)?

    What ya eating tonight?

You should try a few pieces of popcorn, just chew them up real well. I ended up bringing a Protein shake and some plain hummus. Not the greatest movie experience without the popcorn. But once I got into the movie I forgot about the Snacks. I was actually considering buying popcorn chewing and spitting- then I realized how ridiculous I was behaving. I'm only 5 days post op so prob not the greatest idea for me to eat popcorn even if it's only a few pieces. Worried about a bowel obstruction or overindulging and stretching my stomach.
  12. post op liquid diet, wishing I could have popcorn at the movies. Wah!

I am trying to figure out if I can fit a movie in before my surgery, just for the popcorn. That is something that I will miss, but I know that being fit and healthy will taste much better. Good luck with you liquid diet. When is you surgery? Mine is July 8th. I don't have to do a post op diet.

I brought in a protein shake and ate some plain hummus, not as satisfying but still it was ok. Definitely changes the whole movie "experience"! My surgery was 6/4, have a couple more days of liquids and then on to soft foods. What surgery are you having? Pretty sure they will put you on some sort of diet post op...usually liquids then soft foods then regular foods.

    What ya eating tonight?

1/2 cup of velvety black bean Soup. Going to the movies tonight and wishing I could have popcorn...movie theatre popcorn is the best :-( I know it will likely be at least a year before that is even possible.

    after surgery

i have to echo what everyone else is saying, had surgery 6/4 so 4 days postop. It does get better every day. A little more energy a little less pain. My gas pains were pretty bad too. And just burping or coughing or sneezing is painful. But I am noticing I am better able to differentiate between fullness and pain. Good luck everyone!
  15. Hi, I too am 4 days post op and sick of the sweet stuff. I went to trader joes and purchased 2 different carton soups and mixed both. One is black bean, one is corn/red pepper. They are both velvety smooth consistency so no straining necessary. 4grams protein per serving. It's spiced quite nicely. Highly recommend.
  16. I had my surgery 6/4, had my first BM today which caught me by surprise- it just started coming out and I had to walk really fast to the bathroom :-( I think for me one thing that is causing the stomach upset is all of the sugar free products (popsicles, Jello, drinks, etc).
  17. Surgery in 3 days. So nervous and excited...
