    I hear you. I also get bored with water sometimes. Diet Snapple and Crystal Light have become my friends. I find it much easier to get my 64 ounces in that way. I have to admit the days I have the least trouble is when I exercise, which makes sense, I guess.

    Pizzaman - when they keep pushing you to get your 64 ounces of fluid, they're not kidding. If you don't do anything else, you MUST get your fluids and protein in.

    Went to the gym after work Friday afternoon. I have to remember to have some Protein before working out. I felt so lethargic. Did my 30 minutes on the treadmill, but only 16 minutes on the elliptical. Crazy Ates January Exercise Challenge 4 / 13 Exercise Sessions

    Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

    I wasn't sure if I belonged here or in the Twenties group. You see I stopped celebrating my birthday at 29 and just started celebrating the anniversary of my 29th birthday. This became a problem when my son turned 25 last year I'd love to know the demographics here for how many people are in each age group.

    Is this another All Star cast? Oh wait, now I remember. It's something like a team of new guys versus past survivors, right? I agree. I don't like Johnny Fairplay either. I don't care if it is a game or not, but faking your grandmother's death is just plain crude.

    This was the only bad experience from my surgery, but i blame it on the anesthesiologist more than the test itself. I have hard to find veins and the doctor as having trouble. Instead of asking for help, he kept on poking until I threatened to get up off the gurney and walk out. He finally got the idea I was getting agitated and called over a colleague who got it on the first try. The nurse did apologize saing that they would have given me a sedative, but did nt want to do so until my surgeon stopped b to talk to me first. I have to say that once the other anesthesiologist did the trick, it really didn't hurt any more than a normal blood draw.

    Treadmill - - Do you hold on?

    Is the speed as important as the target heart rate? I wear a heart monitor and at 3.0 - 3.3 mph I'm hitting around 110. At this point in my journey, I'm happy with that.

    Goal Weight

    I just adjusted my goal weight, based on the BMI calculator. Knocked it down another 15 pounds to a weight I haven't seen since my college days.

    My nutritionist suggested that I add two tablespoons of olive oil to my dinner. That, along with stool softeners seems to be helping.

    I got in two hours on Sunday. I knew I wasn't going to be able to work out on Friday this week, so I meant to go Thursday night after work. But we were still in that freezing spell, so a copped out and felt guilty about it afterwards. (Since I'm new to this, is the second number supposed to be your exercise sessions goal ?)     Treadmill - - Do you hold on?

    I tried no holding on this weekend and your right, you do feel it in your legs. I couldn't set the speed as fast as I like either. About halfway trough my 30 minutes, I ended up holding on every once in a while. For me, holding on is also more about balance and spacial distortion problems.

    Jack - thanks for that advice. I guess it's not so much about appearing cheap, but recognizing that the bar is doing all the work, we get to play for free and hey count on our bar/food bills to make up for it. I was thinking of just getting water and tipping the waitress as if I bought a drink.

    Here's a related question. I started playing in a Hold 'Em league that is sponsored by a local pub. There's no charge to play, the bar bears all the costs, so they make their money from the player's tabs. Since I want to contribute my fair share, I tried ordering a club soda the first time and found out why carbonation is not suggested. Got terrible gas pains. If I want to order something, what are my choices? I know beer is out. What else can I order to avoid looking like a cheapskate?

    December Exercise Challenge

    Got workouts in on Friday and Sunday, same routine. 30 minutes treadmill, 30 minutes elliptical and 30 minutes on the machines working on legs. Finally saw the scale start shifting to the right again.

    My gym opened up for the first time on Christmas, until noon, so I was able to get in another hour of treadmill and elliptical. I was surprised at how crowded it was.

    In my neighborhood, I'm not sure anyone would have noticed :rose: So far, I'm making the gym fees work for me. I worked out for a little under two hours on Friday, doing 30 minutes treadmill, 30 minutes elliptical and and about 40 minutes on the machines, doing mostly leg work. I've been getting PT for a tennis elbow (and I don't even play tennis!), so I have to stay away from the arms for a while. Yesterday, I did about the same, but only 10 minutes on the elliptical. I think I made a mistake not having something to eat before working out, because I was feeling a little low on energy and just petered out.

    For those with a 10cc Band

    I was banded 8/22and have a 10cc band. Got my first fill two week ago for about 4cc worth. Still don't feel a restriction. I see the doctor again the end of January and am trying to decide if I want to wait that long for a third fill.

    December Exercise Challenge

    If you want sympathy from us up in the frozen north, forgettaboutit I finally got tired of just walking and went and joined a gym I used to belong to two years ago, before I started traveling a lot. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.0 mph and 10 minutes on the elliptical before finishing with some weight training on the legs. I laso went and bought a Polar FS1 heart monitor. to track my heart rate while doing the aerobic stuff.
