Luvin_Life125 reacted to TamaraS in Increased water+protein= 11pound this week!
I have had a rough time making the numbers I wanted after surgery. During the all liquids phase I did excellent with my weightloss but it slowed drasticly after I started foods again. I had trouble making it to 64 ounces of Water and meeting the protien recomendations. a little overa week ago I was desperate when I gained 4 lbs in my fourth month so I decided to consume 120+ ounces of water and go over my daily recomended Protein requirments. I lost 11lbs this week!!! I was really affraid I wouldn't lose any more weight but my hope is renewed =) Just wanted to share and encourage anyone who isn't drinking enough water or getting enough protein!

Have you tried those Sargento Snacks that have cubed cheese, almonds, and craisins in small, divided containers? I did, and they are great! Each snack contains about 190 calories, and is very convenient. BUT, I am cheap! So I went ahead and made my own. But first I had to aquire some reusable containers with dividers. I looked high and low for a small. portable container like that, but no luck in the normal food container section of the store. I ended up in the BABY food aisle, near the formula section. There I found several brands of baby formula (powdered) containers that have three divided sections - PERFECT for the snack container I was looking for! It is about 3" x 3", the top comes off and has a small pouring spout (if you want to carry just nuts....you can pour them out this way).
This is a perfect way of carrying with you Snacks such as the above mentioned, Jerky pieces (I like to cut them into bite-size pieces with a kitchen shear), dried fruits, nuts, salami chunks.... the list is endless. I'm not sure if the divided sections keep out moisture from the other sections, so beware of that. The containers run from about $2.50 and up (each). I just got the generic brand, and got a half-dozen of those. Mine have 3 sections. I plan to fill 2 sections with the nuts and fruit (I am measuring out 1/2 ounce of each), then store them in the pantry until I need to take them somewhere, then fill with cheese or meat the remaining section just prior to leaving for my destination. The container has plenty of room for multiple portions, for longer days, or if someone wants to share! Enjoy and have fun with this!!!!

Nice to meet you too! My name is Candace. Good luck and I hope you can get an answer as to what requirements need to be met to qualify for surgery. How frustrating to not be able to get simple information. As far as what qualifies someone to not be a bypass patient , I am not exactly sure on everything. I can't because they don't want to leave part of my stomach inside when it can't be monitored to make sure the polyps haven't grown , changed, etc. It is called an at risk gastric remnant. I should find out today if they can somehow squeeze my surgery in before the end of October so I will keep my fingers crossed! Good luck at your primary care appointment and with your sleep study! Keep in touch!

I have recently become obsessed with fruit! I have turned to fruit which I KNOW is a good thing because I have had a wicked sweet tooth for candy lately and the fruit is helping me stay away from that. But I'm still messed up in the head cuz all I think about is the sugar and carbs in fruit. Have any of you added fruit significantly into your diet? Has it made you gain weight at all? Regardless I'm staying away from candy of course but I want your opinion on fruit.

I'm coming back to this post to seek a little reassurance from my BP buddies again! I've been walking 15,000-20,000 + steps a day and feeling great! I returned from a weekend in Yosemite where I completed 26 miles in hikes over three days. I was amazed what my body could do. We hike these trails 3-5 times a year and this time we only stopped once for a lunch break each day. My body felt strong and I didn't feel sore until I came home Monday. The muscles in my legs appear lean and strong. The sleek definition of the muscles is reminding me of my younger years as a competitive athlete. So what's the issue? I left home Friday weighing 150.1. I came home Sunday weighing 155! I still weigh 155 on Tuesday. I know I always retain Water after being in high altitude, but what a mind trip this all is! I'm throwing the darn scale out! I'm beginning to love the way my body is looking. It's taking on a toned athletic shape. I have to remind myself that I may weigh more if I'm building muscle mass. Sigh.

Down to a size 12, while 212 pounds and 5'6"? You must be pure muscle at this point! I JUST fit into a size 14 this past weekend and I'm 5'6" and around 185 pounds! Definitely once you start exercising it has to be more about measurements and body composition than numbers on the scale. Like you, I am loving the changes in my body as I build muscle and tone up, even if the scale is a big meanie!

I've gained 10lbs the last 4 months. My waist is smaller. My arms are more toned. My legs feel smaller. I've gone from a 14 to a 12. It sucks because I went from 190ish back to the 200s. But I'm happy with what I see in the mirror. I'm happier with how my clothes fit. I'm happier with how my arms and legs look. So I'm going to be ok with it.

The greatest side effect of this surgery has been the positive effect on my relationship with my wife of 27 years. I am down 35 lbs From 258 to 223) since my DOS (1/20/15). and the last three weeks have been like the first three weeks we met. Also was having some severe ED problems (blood pressure meds and weight... the culprit) that are slowly subsiding... I feel fantastic from the weight loss alone.... We always have had a great relationship over 27 years but this little change has kinda rekindled something we lost along the way...raising 2 kids, jobs and me not taking care of my body and appearance.....here's hoping every sleever sees this benefit!

Luvin_Life125 reacted to B-52 in The Best NSV yet! 45 years later...
Been banded over 4 years, lost all my weight a while back...so I don't get NSV';s that often anymore....
But Saturday Night was a big one!
First, I graduated HS in 1970....I weighed 165, played football, ran track, etc.
There is a class mate, who has become a very popular comedian, tours all over the world, TV, Movies...etc. (I'm not going to mention his name)
Well the word went out through face book, that he would be the headline act at "Catch a Rising Star" here in New Jersey....and people from the Class of 70 were being contacted to attend...sort of a mini reunion....which a good number of us did.
To get to the point, people I have not seen in over 40 years were there....of course everyone was thrilled to see each other. Lots of Love going around!.....and everyone could not get over how I have not changed one bit...I am still the same weight, and I am still in tip-top shape as I was in High School! People said I have obviously done pretty good for myself.
The joke was, where everyone is getting older...I am gong in the opposite direction!
IF THEY ONLY KNEW!!!! It's been over 40 years and they do not know I was once morbidly obese, was once a diabetic, have cardiac issues, along with a long list of other things.
And as a last resort, I had to undergo Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery...and only then did I turn my life around....but they don't know, and that's just fine with me....just let it ride.
I was walking on air all night, and it was not just the alcohol we were consuming! (of course we partied!)
Stuff like his makes it all worth it....best decision I ever made!
