  1. Is anyone else just counting calories and protein like me? I get about 900 to 1000, exercise 4 days a week and still am slow losing. I don't eat junk food, or sweets but will have carbs occasionally but not a lot of them. I am wondering if your nutritionist have put you on some sort of restrictions? I have even had alcohol a few times, and actually have had losses those weeks. Go figure!
  2. I agree with okelly- there are ways to get in the protein, although I think 800 calories a day is low and might not help with weight loss, if your body thinks it starving. Sometimes you have to try and increase a little-play with it a bit and see if that helps the weight loss. Okelly - what vitamins are you taking that you only have to take once a day? Mine are 4 times a day which is hard because I forget to take a lot of the times later in the day.
  3. I upped my calories to between 800 and 900 (which isn't easy to do unless I were to drink a real chocolate shake) and that has helped. I hit my 20 lbs. I would recommend that to anyone that is stalling. Maybe your body is holding on because it thinks it's starving?
  4. Hi Katie - as of today, I am down about 18 or 19 pounds. I increased my calories, so that seems to help. I was fine taking in about 700 calories, but I think my body thought I was starving myself, so I increased to 800 to 900 and it seems to be working, My Surgeon was Dr. Kane - he is out of Alexian Bros in Elk Grove plus he has offices in Hoffman Estates. The whole process takes time, because you have to see so many people before you can schedule, and my guy only did them every other Friday, so that's inconvenient, but what are you gonna do? We must jump through the hoops. I am just so glad I did this. It's so nice not to be hungry all the time and I really don't have cravings. I am totally off caffeine (the headache was horrible) and soda, 2 of my favorite things. I never thought I could survive without caffeine of soda- but once it's out of your system, it's easy.
  5. Hi Katie- I was sleeved August 15th and am so glad I did. The weight hasn't exactly fallen off but I figured out it's probably because I am not taking in enough calories. That's the first time I have ever had that problem! I am at the puréed stage but I get so full compared to when I was on the liquids. I wish you luck with your procedure. Do you have a date yet?

August post op sleevers: Check in

Hi August Sleevers- I was sleeved on August 15th - Down 17 pounds total. 16 of those in the first 3 weeks (including preop diet) but I am at a stall. Made an appointment with a NUT but can't get in until October. I think I need to up my calories - I am only getting in about 700 per day - maybe that will help with the weight loss. No other real problems - feel great - no issues with the liquid and now the "blended" portion. Good luck to all!

    Sleeved and not felt "full"

I think you are not supposed to feel "full" but satisfied. Sometimes its head hunger.

    Victoria's Secret NSV

Congrats on your success. You look great. Can't wait to shop there.
  9. thanks everyone - that's encouraging. I guess I just have to be patient. I see so many posts with people losing crazy good numbers and I assumed that would be me too. At least my clothes are a bit looser. Thats the positive.
  10. I was sleeved on August 15th. My preop diet - I only list 5 lbs, drinking about 709 calories in protein shakes. One week after surgery I was down 10 lbs. Great huh? Since then, I have been on about 700 calories, 70 grams of protein approximately, and the scale hasn't budged. Simple math would tell me I should have lost at least 5 lbs. Has anyone else run into this and if so, was it just temporary? I have been walking but not doing real strenuous exercises yet, til I see the surgeon next week. Help! It's discouraging to think of what I have went through to lose weight, something as drastic as removing 80 percent of my stomach, and yet the weight isn't falling off.

    Women critical of other women

Disregard the negative crap and be proud of yourself for your incredible accomplishment. Some people can't give anything but back handed compliments. Like the dude that said you would be hot if you lost 20 more pounds. Did u tell him to look in the mirror?

    August Sleevers Check In

I don't recall feeling that thirst preop. Maybe it's the protein shakes? I feel more thirsty being in the liquids since my surgery but you now have to time the water.
