I just found out my insurance demands a 6 month supervised diet before they will aprove the surgery. The clinic that i am going with does not even submit to the insurance until you have done all the testing and dieting. So instead of being banded in April I might be banded in October. Right now it is a big bummer for me.

Unsure if I should do it

I also wonder if i am going to make the right decision about getting banded. I have no firm date yet but i am looking at probaly april of 08. What i keep telling my self is this.... Do i want to be 40 and fat? no Have i told myself for the last 16 years that I was going to start the new year out right? yes... have i succeded? no Do i have choices to make? yes have i been a overeater? yes now is the time to do something about it and for myself. I look at my mother who has been overwieght most of her adult life and has high blood pressure and 2 knee replacements and complained all of my life about her weight and decided i have to take the weight into my own hands and get active.

it looks like i will be banded in April 08 if all goes well. I have to have supervised diet plan for 3 month then insurance will cover it. I just hope that it does not turn into a April fools joke, because i don't want to wait any longer.

    Lap-band vs. Bypass? HELP!

One of the girls I work with had the by pass done and now that i am looking into the lapband she wishes she had gone that way. She has to watch wat she eats or else she gets the insulin rush and blood sugar dip. This happens to her with almost all foods. Now she wishes she could reverse it but can't do it without a magor surgery.

I am starting down the path to my new life. I have gone to the Info meeting for crosby hospital where they have 4 surgeons that do the lap-band and the r-n-y bypass. My goal is to be able to go walking, hiking, biking with out getting short of breath and in pain. To start living life.
