    Goal Weight

I'm tall - 5' 10.5" and the lowest I have ever been as an adult is about 170. That was at the end of Army basic training 20 years ago. At that time I wore size 12 pants. My initial goal weight is 200 (set by docs office) lbs but if I can get down to 180 I will be in healthy BMI. 200 is a comfortable wright for me. I can't imagine being smaller - time will tell though!

    SURGERY IS TOMORROW...

Surgery on Tueaday - 2 days out today. It went well. They do the preop things like IV and so forth and then roll you into the OR. Once in OR we changed beds onto the surgery gurney and then I was out. Woke up as I was being moved into regular room. A little pain from the gas and some discomfort around the incisions- especially the left, larger one. I could have gone home yesterday but I was afraid and started throwing up when they gave me oral narcotic pain meds (I'm allergic or sensitive one). They switched me to a non-narcotic and that was way better. I walk every so often around the floor and that makes me feel much better. Slowly siping warm liquids and ready to go home today. My friend recently had her gall bladder removed and it seems recovery is very similar. On the sleeved side now and looking forward to losing!

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

I'm trying to get home and work ducks in a row. . Today I plan to clean my room at home and maybe do some closet purging. I have lost about 20 lbs preop so I have some things that are going to be ready to leave my closet within a couple of weeks and I don't plan to wear work clothes for a couple of weeks so I'm going to go ahead and box them, leaving just those things (like maxi dresses) that are weight-flexible. I think that will make me feel good. Are you nervous?

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

I'm June 10, too. Had my preop yesterday an I feel much more relaxed after talking with the doc. Hang in there - we will both be on our road to skinny soon!

    Question!

Yes. If you are over 40 BMI you do nt have to have comorbidities to qualify for surgery.
  15. Hey all. I am considering a position in another area soon after surgery (about one month). I have preop on Wednesday and sleeve surgery on Tuesday, June 10. What are your thoughts?

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Bari boot camp is the last presurgery nutritionist and exercise physiologist session you have at the dr office I'm going through. They go over everything.
  18. Lynn - I feel you! Congratulations on your NSV! Lane Bryant and Catherine's are the only plus size stores in my area (and Catherine's doesn't often appeal to me). I am scheduled for surgery on the 10 th and the preop diet has loosened me out of the 24 pants (not shirts - long way to go on the top! I'm planning to wear alt of maxi dresses over the next few months so I can get away with not buying a lot of clothes until I'm close to goal.

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!

I just got scheduled today for June 9 as well! Excited and nervous. I've been on a preop diet for a few weeks now but it isn't too bad. Protein and veggies. I don't know what my diet just before surgery is yet, but should find out tomorrow. . Congrats all!
  22. Is it grainy? This sounds like a winner! Thanks for sharing. I was just approved today, but have been doing the pre-op diet for a few weeks and trying various products.

    Got my sleeve May 21st

I'm Jenny - 38 year old from Berea, KY. I have a house full of boys and am in the "waiting/hoping for insurance" approval part of the process. I work in college access and love my job. My husband and kids are all supportive of WLS. I decided it is something I need to do after taking the boys camping for spring break and coming back with a lot of back pain. I have been on the pre side for about 3 weeks and having no difficulty with the diet - but my dr says 30 g carbs and otherwise Protein and veggies so that seems easier than what I've read with others. I have 2 sisters who have had VGS surgery - both lost an amazing amount of weight and had good experiences. Looking forward to having a surgery date and wen more looking forward to having surgery!

    Who Are You?

Hi, I'm Jenny. I'm from Berea, KY, 38 years old, and have 4 boys ages 9,10,13, and 16 (brother-in-law adopted). This is my first post! I am in the "waiting for insurance" portion of this path and really nervous about whether they will approve. I work at a local college with educational grants that serve regional schools (Upward Bound, GEAR UP). I've been married for almost 14 years and am very fortunate to have a very supportive husband and kids. I love outdoorsy stuff and have found that over the past several years my weight has kept me from doing much of the stuff I love. I decided I wanted WLS after taking the boys camping for spring break and coming back with some really bad back pain and diagnosis of degenerative disk in my lower back. I've been on the pre-op diet for about 3 weeks now and am loosing steadily but am really nervous about insurance. I plan to call them tomorrow to see where it stands. Cool to hear the stories!
