    Best tasting Protein shakes?

I couldn't handle the Premier Protein shakes because of the lactose. The taste was fine but the resulting bathroom visits were not. For those who are lactose intolerant, try something else.
  3. I just though - wow - if that's someone from my HS reunion who had surgery at about the same time as me- wow! Anyway, good luck tonight. I'm sure it will go well. Maybe whatever is served won't be things that are yummy to you, anyway!
  4. Shiner - my 20 year HS reunion is tonight too - but I have no desire to go. I was sleeved on June 10. You don't happen to be from KY, do you?

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Jut figured out the hard way that Premier Protein shakes have milk. Pure Protein do not cause lactose intolerant problems. I didn't think to check the premier ones before drinking one. Lesson learned.
  6. Congratulations. Your cat photo is all too familiar. I would put my chin behind one of my kids or something. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

Hang in there. I'm just 9 days post op and feel mostly normal. Each day it gets better. If you sip all day you should be able to get your water and protein in around day 4 or 5 post op. That's also when the gas pains each time you swallow start to ease up (at least for me). I still have gas that gets caught in my chest if I drink a too-large gulp at a time and that hurts for a few seconds. Follow the directions from your doctor. Clear liquids - liquids - mushy proteins.

    Breast Reduction

I had breast reduction on 2007. I was a very dense K cup and went to a DD (wanted smaller but that would have impeded blood flow). I had anchor cut. The recovery wasn't bad. Couldn't lift arms for a few days, couldn't lift stuff for a week or two. Not a great deal of pain, didn't take any pain meds - didn't for sleeve either after being released from hospital. I would be willing to go through much more pain and recovery for the change it made. It was a very good choice for me. Best of luck.
  12. Hey all - I'm 4 days post-op and everything has been fine except today when I had an unexpected very strong sneezing moment. I quickly pulled my pillow into my abdomen, but those sneezed hurt like crazy. When it passed, I looked at my incisions and one staple had came out of one side. That particular incision has a lot of staples on both sides of the one that came out so I'm thinking this is going to be ok. I will call docs office on Monday but in the meantime has anyone else did this?
  13. I am - near lexington. You need a pillow to press into your abdomen when you cough or sneeze. It helps a great deal! How are you feeling? Where was your surgery?
  14. Talked to doc today and they said no worries. . They assured me the inside staples are fine.

    June 10th

Me, too. Today is the first day I haven't taken a nap. . I tried refried Beans - just a teaspoon - and they were ok. My dr says mushy foods should be mushy Protein foods, which is fine wih me. I'm glad I have the rest of this week off though!

    6/12/14 - Sugery Buddies Needed

We have similar -stats though I'm a tad bit taller than you 5'10.5" and tad bit larger- my highest weight was 307. I lost 20 lbs preop and have lost another 10 since June 10 surgery. I'm 38 with 4 boys ages 9-16. Today I weighed in at 276.2, which I find miraculous! I'm only 6 days post op but am coming along fine. Able to get my Water and Protein in after the first couple of days. Overall feel good and starting to have energy again. Best of luck on your continued success.

    June 10th

Mine was the 10th. Each day I feel better. How are you doing?
  19. Congratulations and best wishes for many happy years together!
  20. I don't think anything is "hurt" but the experience itself was 30 seconds of OUCH. Be careful with sneezes.

    Are you ok?

I like this post. I told people about my surgery (5 days post-op) because I'm afraid they will think I have cancer or am on drugs when the weight loss actually starts to be visible - even though I have never tried any sort of drug. The people who I have told (family, friends and co-workers) have all known me most of my life so I don't want anyone to worry. At the same time, I expect to get some of those comments from others and I'm not sure how I'll answer. We should have a clever responses thread to give people ideas of ways to respond to those. If someone says something about why did I finally decide to loose weight I would have to respond strongly!

At the end of my rope...

My bariatric team discussed all of the options, pros and cons of each in a large group session then met individually with us at our next appointment to discuss our thoughts. In my humble opinion, I would take the advice of the bariatric team, but do your own research to decide. I have had pcps for years who treated my thyroid issues but didn't go by the latest recommendations. Which surgery you have is up to you and your surgeon. Bet of luck!!!

    6/12/14 - Sugery Buddies Needed

Hey all - I was sleeved on Tuesday, June 10. I spent 2 nights in hospital because I was throwing up from pain meds. They changed the meds and I felt better very quickly. I'm resting a lot - today is 4 days post op, and drinking lots of Protein liquids. I won't go to mushy protein foods for another day or two. My sore throat from the tube is much better today and the gas pains are much less. I'm excited about the next few months and happy for all of us!
  24. Hey all - I have my VGS on Tuesday, June 10. My pain isn't too bad and neither is my gas - I've been walking a lot. My throat, however is dry and scratchy. I'm guessing it's from the tube down the throat. Anyone have advice on how to make the throat feel better and or info on how long I should expect the soreness?
