i haven’t read the book so I can’t comment on it. I’ve been pretty much a vegan since before my GBS. I get blood work every six months and every time my test have been good. It’s been over three years since my surgery and I take no medication. I always take my Vitamins and administer a B-12 shot once a month. Best of luck in ya'll journey.

catdaddy got a reaction from Sophiedofie in Slow loser due to my age?
I read men burn calories faster than women but that said I'm 61 and don't think age has anything to do with how fast or slow you loss weight. To me it's your metabolism. My example is me. Basically I'm lazy when it comes to working out. I don't go to the gym but do love working in the yard, weather permitting. I started my journey last Aug and have lost 81 pounds since surgery. To me that's pretty good for not doing much exercise. My weight loss has now slowed down to about a pound a week. So my thoughts are who cares how fast or slow you loss. Stick to the plan and everyone will get to their goal.

I'm an RNY'er but I've been eating these since after the surgery and they don't bother me at all. Perhaps this should just be a general informative warning.

Not to far in the past I was a die hard vegan because of a significate emotional event I had involving animals. I got over the depression but I'm still passionate about animals so I stay in contact with animal right groups. PETA just put out a large list of vegan Protein mixes with ratings. If your interested the link is below.

Vegans eating varied diets containing vegetables, Beans, grains, nuts, and seeds rarely have any difficulty getting enough Protein as long as their diet contains enough energy (calories) to maintain weight. Only Vitamin B12 will have to be supplemented. Good luck in your journey.

I strived to go total vegan after my RNY but it took awhile to do it because of outside influences. I'm now thankfully a complete vegan. My PCP does my blood work every 6 months and I do my own injections of B12 once a month. Just so everyone knows, I feel great about it.

I had RNY done Aug 2014. I'm 63 yrs old and have no problems with my teeth. I have arthritis but that's because of my age. I take 500 mg of Calcium three times a day as per my doctor and all is well.

    Hey guys,
It's now to late for me because I'm now an alcoholic. Just to let you know it's intoxicatingly easy to fall into it if you go that way. You really don't want to do this. I've read that a GBP patient can easily fall into it but I ignored it. Now I have to figure out how to fix it. No need to preach because I'm not ready for that. I just wanted to let you know for me it was way to easy to fall into this.

Hi, The sixties over here is more active than the one on the Gastric Bypass side and now that the subject of RNY has come up I thought I'd chime in. I'm 61 and had the RNY procedure done last August in Gainesville, Florida. I think any WLS you get you'll be happy with. With mine I couldn't be more pleased. Just wanted to say hi to ya'll and best of luck.
