  1. That was his first thought too but my gallbladder was removed years ago.
  2. I had my surgery on December 10th and have lost 75lbs. I have had severe shoulder pain in my right shoulder off and on since the surgery. I have discussed it several times with the surgeon and the PA with no resolution. A few weeks ago the pain in my stomach got so bad and moved up into my shoulder and behind my ear that I let my hubby take me to the ER. They ran some tests and found nothing. The only good thing they did was give me pepcid which eased it off. I get horrible gas and hiccups along with the pain. It's unbearable when it happens. Met with the surgeon yesterday and he told me to stop taking the pepcid and if it happened again he wanted to run a scope down my throat to see what could be causing it. I stopped the pepcid and immediately the pain is back with a vengeance. So frustrated that they have no idea what it is. Has anyone else experienced this?
  3. I have my preop appointment on Friday and then I am ready to go. I am doing well but it's been a struggle. Like last night when my husband fried french fries and baked chicken tenders for his dinner. I had to go in the other end of the house so I couldn't smell it.
  4. I am on day 8 now of my preop liquid diet. It was challenging over the holiday having to attend 4 different thanksgiving dinners but I allowed myself one serving of lean meat per day and that helped. Now I am back to 6 smalls meals a day all liquid. I am allowed to have Protein shakes, cream Soups made with milk instead of Water, greek yogurt, sugar free pudding with Protein powder added, sf Popsicle, chicken broth, sf Jello, and anything to drink that has no caffeine, alcohol or carbonation. My daily meal plan usually looks something like 7:00 AM Protein shake, 10:00 AM protein shake, 1:00 PM Soup, 4:00 PM Protein Shake, 7:00 Shake or Soup, 9:30 PM Greek Yogurt. I also add in jello and sf Popsicle along with my water if I get hungry. So far I am down about 1 pound a day.
  5. My date is December 10th as well. Started my 2 week liquid diet today. I have to say this is the hungriest I have been in a long time. I am hoping the first day is the worst but regardless it will all be worth it to finally be healthy! My family thinks I am crazy for being on a liquid diet for Thanksgiving but the timing worked out perfect so I could get the surgery in by the end of the year and have enough time off from work with the addition of the holidays we already have off. Would love to have some surgery buddies.

    Finally APPROVED!

I am so excited! My surgery is approved!!!!!!! Now I just wait to get a date from the surgeon. Doing my happy dance!
  11. I had my appointment with the surgeon yesterday. They submitted to insurance yesterday and now I just have to wait to get my approval. They said they normally hear back from my insurance company in 2 to 3 days. May be the longest 2 to 3 days ever.

    Anthem BCBS is Horrible

I feel your pain on that. I started with my new program on June 29th. They are going to use as much as they can from the other place I was going. I won't have to have the psych eval redone and I may not have to go to their 3 monthly visits that they require for their program. So I was supposed to have surgery July 7th and now it's looking like early October for me. All in all I think the place I am now really does have a better program and I feel much more informed and prepared than I ever did with the other program. Trying my best to look at the bright side and not think about the fact that I could have had my surgery on July 7th and already be almost a month post op. Hang in there!

    Anthem BCBS is Horrible

I just wish they would train the people answering the phone to actually know the correct answers before they waste 6 months of someones time or they should have to honor what they said on that recorded line.

    Anthem BCBS is Horrible

So my surgery was scheduled for 7/7. All 3 times that either me or the weight loss center talked to the insurance we asked if they needed to be a Blue Distinction Center and were told NO! Got a call today on the day I was supposed to start my pre-op diet and was told that they do have to be a Blue Distinction Center. So frustrated because now I have wasted 6 months and will have to start over with a whole new program. They would cover my surgery out of network but that put me at paying $4500 out of pocket vs about $500. On top of that I have already paid the psychologist, did my visits with the Nutritionist, went to the support group meetings etc. It's caused me to use 21 hours of my vacation time when if the people who answer the phones in provider services were reading from the same policy as the Medical Management group at the insurance I would have gone with a different program to begin. With. I am so beyond frustrated. I feel like giving up altogether on having the surgery. My only hope is that the other program will take into consideration all that I have already done and been through and not make me start from scratch.
  15. Can't believe I finally have a surgery date. I am so excited to start my new healthier life! Now I just have to whip this 2 week pre-op diet. My doctor requires lean protein and low/no carbs for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Any one else have a similar pre-op diet?
