  1. Congrats! love it! I have become the thrift shopping queen. It's the thrill of the hunt. I no longer have to get plus size clothing. I found an angora sweater size small and it fits...only $7.99. Thanks sleeve!
  2. Like many, My health was terrible. C-pap and oxygen. Type one diabetic out of control. Diabetic complications stage two kidney damage. I was a time bomb on 11 types of medication. What motivated me. My mother and father in law. Both had stage 4 cancer last year. I provided hospice care for my father in law and traveled to see my mom for a weekend. They both passed 4 days of each other. They both handled knowing they were going to die with such grace. I figured the least I could do is get control of my life. Not only to extend my life but to live a life they were not able to. I do all in memory of them. Today I am 5 months out and 100lbs down from my highest weight. I had medical treatment to deal with a disease. I put in the hard work. I am learning to be comfortable with the change. It's just happened so fast. I need time to catch up with my body. It does not define me. Would curing your type two diabetes define a person? I'm loving and living life.
  3. @@hopeliveshere Congratulations! One year out. You have done amazing things in a year! You should be proud.

  6. @@APURNELL 3 months and over 50lbs down. You should be proud of that. you are doing great. Just some info for thought... What motivated you to have surgery? Go back to those thoughts. Try on some clothing from your high weight. Stages of change: Preparation: The person has decided on action, and is making the steps necessary to prepare themselves for action. Action: The person is engaging in actions intended to bring about change. Maintenance: The challenge is to sustain the change accomplished by previous action, and to prevent relapse. Relapse: If a relapse occurs, the individuals task is to start the process of change again rather getting stuck in relapse. If you are in a relapse phase make sure you're self talk is positive and realistic. Start the process of change again. Find your motivation. Its easy to get into all or nothing mentality and give up or let yourself get comfortable instead of fighting for your goal. No one is perfect. Its how you respond when things get hard that matters. Good luck on you're journey! Jenn1
  7. I was in denial about how big I was. I did not want to be seen in pictures and in my life. Being smaller but not to my surgery or personal goal yet. I still struggle with who I see in the mirror as I'm loosing weight. I hope that will change once I get to maintenance and a year or more out. The biggest change is I am an active participant in life now. I want to be out and accomplishing so many things. My family is beyond happy for my personality change over the weight loss..And I admit so am I. Yes the weight loss is great. but to have my life back means so much more. Hoping my eyes will see the new me in the mirror. I do see the new me inside so much clearer.
  8. You seem to be an adrenaline junkie. Must feel amazing. You have inspired me. Thanks so much for sharing the video.
  9. WOW! Freaking fantastic Love the post. You are doing great and you sound so focused. Go you....
  10. @@WL WARRIOR I agree with @@VSGAnn2014 I have chosen not to tell the unsupportive family members in my life. I have now come to realize I don't need anyone approval. They talked about me before the surgery and that is not going to change. Funny how you can make positive changes in your life and they cannot be happy for you. My haters are really speaking volumes about how unhappy they are. Be selfish! do for you in life.
  11. @@LauraLei101 The diet progression was fine. I knew the stages were temporary until the food stage. My dietician has modified my diet a bit to add healthy carbs to stabilize my blood sugar. My biggest challenge....I think getting out of the honeymoon stage and hitting reality. At first the weight came off pretty easy. I got to relaxed and comfortable. I woke up. I had great input on this sight as well as my local support groups. I know that I will only get out of this surgery what I put into it. Wow you're surgery is right around the corner. I'm excited for you. The journey begins:)
  12. @@tomi71 I love the challenges that are offered on this site. The holiday challenge is great for me. I need help staying on track through the food season. My fitness pal. after logging in my food and exercise. It calculates the info. Then tells me if everyday was like today I could weigh (what ever amount) in five weeks. My local events. I have a 6mile christmas run for the YMCA. I am now jogging on the treadmill at the gym to get ready. I have a snowshoeing adventure offered by my gym. I'm waiting for the snow to fly. Anyway that's what keeps me going
  13. @@LauraLei101 I am 5' 5" I was 238 on my day of surgery. I am a little over 5 months out. The first couple of months I could loose 22lbs a month. I think I'm at 12lbs a month now. I now weigh 156.
  14. Oh also having a state wide WLS Christmas pot luck at the hospital. Can't wait!
  15. I agree the support groups have been interesting but worth it for me. I think of it like a AA meeting for bariatic patients. You get the good with the bad anywhere you go. I just take what is good information. I try to be supportive to all the members. I'm in awe of the members that still go to meetings at a year or more out. Cooking classes I can't say enough about. Its like a live food network show..Even better we all get to sample the recipes and chat after the class. I'm just starting a behavior modification class. good information. We will also get into relationships and stress management. Love my hospital after care programs.
  16. @@jatherley You can look up corset training on you tube. No you don't wear it forever. You go to the waist size you want. I have seen some freakishly small 15 inch waistlines....I'm going for proportionate.
  17. Yes I use orchard corset..im not representing them..lol. if you do some searching on the web there are more retailers just make sure its a steel boned corset. On orchards web site They have videos to help you measure for a corset. Once you have that. You can consult with them off the website or on the phone to get the size and best corset model for your body.
  18. It wont make excess skin go away. It is a steel boned corset. It does move your rib cage in. It distributes your body fat to your hips and bust. Making a smaller natural waistline
  19. They have just started a workout corset. Its not just for women.
  20. Ok, this is not for everyone. Its a personal choice. I have the same issue with roll/excess skin. I started corset training in my 5th month. It's a gift to myself. My natural waist started at 40 inches. in two weeks its a 36. I have an inch to go to get my corset to completely close at a 32. After that I will get a consult for what size corset I need next. Benefits for me..It supports my back and gives me curves that I have never had. Again this is not for everyone and yes it is a body modification.
  21. Kathy, You have made a marvelous transformation. I try to emulate the WLS patients that have started before me. You keep us motivated. You are Sexy! woot woot....
  22. You look amazing! well done. Welcome to the 100's. What are you giving yourself as a reward?
