  1. Hey Shamrockgirl - nice to hear that everything is progressing well. A question though - Why did you have to wait before you used your CPAP? I am really not able to sleep without one. They told me to bring mine in with me when I go for surgery on Friday. Please fill me in.
  2. Sam and Sweetpea - I also am sending good vibes - I'm so excited for you- Give us news as soon as you are able.
  3. Shamrockgirl - you are awesome!! I am so happy for you - it's behind you now and the only way is forward (and downward hee hee)
  4. Congrats to all who are post-surgery and doing so well.....6 more sleeps for me........I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having self doubts. I told my brother this afternoon (He's been away for 2 weeks so I wasn't talking to him.) He had never heard of lap band surgery before so I explained everything - I was literally shaking as I was talking to him. i don't know why because I knew he would be supportive but maybe it's just sinking in now that it's really going to happen! So now, ladies ( and gents) What should be in my bag as I will be in Toronto recuperating 24 hours before I can go home.
  5. legdxdlr: I am so sorry for all that you are going through!! Keep your chin up though - there are some simple reasons why you might have to re-do a mammogram. Did you use deodorant that day? any talc or powder? anything that might leave a trace on your skin may show up on the x-ray films as a little something that the docs may want to have a closer look at. How about where you are in your cycle? How good is the tech in actually taking the x-ray? Don't borrow trouble (although I know that's easier said than done)Keep thinking positive thoughts if you can. When will you hear about the results? Did they say you couldn't have the surgery until you hear? My thoughts are with you legdxdlr! Please keep us posted.
  6. Just think how well everything is going!! If you hadn't been banded what would you weigh now? scale up or the same? If you're like me very probably NOT down - and surely not 15 lbs already!!! It is really good we have this place to honestly talk openly about our feelings toward food. I suspect the mourning of food is different for everybody - really like losing something a part of us. Maybe this is the way we will have a healthier relationship with food - being really conscious of it. I've gotta tell you, this past week on Optifast and veggies have opened my eyes. I never really thought (admitted ) that my problem was the way I ate but man oh man I am realizing just how often and when I would normally have a nibble. Sorry for the long post. I have trouble expressing my feelings in a "short" way.
  7. I so tortally understand the mourning. I am on liquid diet before banding on the 15th and last night realized that I was actually longing for food and worried that I wouldn't be able to enjoy it anymore. I kinda felt it was like smoking. I quit a year ago and when I am super stressed I have gone out and bought a pack to have with a coffee - (hidden in my car of course!) I have done this 3 times and each time have had 1-2 cigs and thrown everything out in disgust because it didn't soothe me the way it did before. It was disgusting but I long for the old feeling I used to get when smoking. I'm afraid this will happen with food. Sorry for the rambling, but does this make sense?
  8. Thanks Lanakila - I can't get over how HUGE this forum is!!I'll have lots of reading tonight after work! My band date - August 15th. Anyone else in Toronto that day?
  9. I so agree, Tigerlily. I called my lapband center today to talk to nutritionist but she wasn't there. I was hoping against hope that she would say I could have a little meat protein or a fruit or a cookie maybe? Anyway, I am resigning myself to JUST DO IT to prove to myself that after is doable too! The nurse told me there are different protocals and that that is what my surgeon wants.
  10. Hi - I'm being banded on the 15th also. How's it going on the liquids? Optifast and vegetables? I gotta tell you I was never a big salad person and I will be even less after this! I cooked an assortment of veggies for supper and it was nice to have something hot.
  11. Hi everyone - am being banded on the 15th (big gulp!!) Can I be an August All Star too? How do I do It? This site is great and you are all so encouraging!! I admit I am getting a bit scared now. It's coming up quickly!
  12. Hello ladies - this is so great to have a forum for different age groups! I am being banded on August 15th - can't wait! but am getting nervous thinking of all the changes.Anyway, I was told to go on optifast and veggie diet for 2 weeks before surgery. I started friday and was successful so far until today. I was out shopping longer than I thought I would be and ended up eating some vegetable sushi from the grocery store. I didn't have any sauce on it. I know I should have brought veggies with me - have I really wrecked my pre-op diet? Also I went to ticker factory and designed one but how do I get it to here?
  13. Hi all - I am a newbie in that I am not banded but new to this forum. I need to lose about 110 lbs and I'm sure like all of you, have tried every darn diet known to man, and lost the same 40 lbs over and over again, and gained each time afterwards. The last thing I did was go to BMI (Bariatric Medical Center) here in Ottaa. The people and doc there were great and I learned how to track calories, etc but ultimately gained back everything and more. My knees are aching and I am having trouble staying on my feet for long. I'm seriously thinking of banding but I am terrified of getting it and having it not work... and of course getting more weight gain. do any of you regret doing the lapband. Is it worth the money? Anyone in Ottawa do the surgery? (I haven't found anyone.) How about the clinic in Montreal? I'm sorry this is rambling. Any replies would be appreciated.
  14. Hi there - am really thinking seriously about banding. I have about 110 lbs to lose - gee, that was like an AA confession but its finally sinking in that I really am that overweight! I have been fooling myself and really avoiding the mirror. I am near Ottawa,Ont, Canada and would sure like some info about who does the surgeries around here or close by in Quebec (Montreal?) Glad to be here and I'm sure I'll get a lot of info.:scared2:
