  1. When will the swelling in my stomach go down?, Almost 3 weeks out and I went from 42inch waist before surgery to a 47 after.

Really you should take to your surgeon's office about the swelling and ask them what they think about it.

I don't remember having swelling like that.

      Take care.

    Help...

I'm officially 2 weeks post-op today, everything was going well till yesterday when I woke up with a serious head cold and of course I start my new job this coming Friday. Is there anything I can take for this? I also sneezed and pulled the muscles in my stomach that were starting to heal and now I can barely walk without sharp pain, tried the heating pad and Tylenol nothing helped to ease it.

    Help...

@@jessiquoi I'm in Northern NJ which is quite the treck lol, I should know..I'm actually from MD and visit family quite often living in NJ. I guess I should just be resting more, It's hard with a 4 year old to just Rest and I feel bad not taking her out when it's so nice out. If this isn't somewhat better by Thursday I'm going in.

@@jessiquoi I'm 100% sure what I'm going through is nothing more then just a severely pulled muscle, I just wish I wasn't. Getting up and going anywhere is impossible right now, I just hope it's better by Friday I start my new job caring for a 3 month old..

    Help...

@@jessiquoi I called both my pcp who wasn't even willing to see me because the pain was due to surgery done by my surgeon, The Nurse I talked to was with my surgeons office and didn't seem concerned that I've literally been doubled over in pain for the past 3 day's at 2 weeks out. I'm having a hard time driving with the pain and his office is an hour away.

    Is this normal?

@@HaddocksEyes I wish I could say I was doing better, first week out was great no issues or complications and I felt things were getting back to normal. Now two weeks out I've caught a head cold and sneezed my way back into being paralyzed. The pain I'm feeling in my abdominal area feel like muscle pain right where my belly button is and every time I move or walk or breath the wrong way it feels like my intestines are trying to fly out of my body.

    Help...

Well I called my Drs office and was only able to get a hold of the nurse practitioner who basically told me to just suck it up (the pain in my stomach that is) it's so bad I can barely move without it bringing tears to my eyes and I've tried everything for it.

@@JamieLogical Thanks..At least I know I'm not alone lol. Do you still have the left side abdominal pain?..Mine was feeling like it was getting better all last week and then I sneezed yesterday and feel like I've re-injured myself, It's really painful.

      Miss Mac

Yes, indeed, call your doctor. Mine refuses to do telephone diagnosis. Last year I thought I pulled a muscle in my back just below the shoulder blade, and Ben-Gay made it hurt like hell. After several days it did not let up, so I called and he told me he would squeeze me in. When he looked at my back, he knew right away what it was. I had shingles and there I was putting Ben-Gay on it. Boy did I learn my lesson about trying to guess what something is. The doctor said I also had "Google-itis" and to stop diagnosing myself on the internet!

      KayleeC14

Call your doc, he or she will help you. I did a little too much after surgery and let the pain slip without keeping up on the pain medicine and learned a powerful lesson. If you are on pain medicine what did they give you? I was on liquid Lortab which is a higher dose of Tylenol.

      HalloweenBaby24

@Kaylee14 @Miss Mac called my Dr's office today and was told the Nurse Practitioner would call me back, She did and I told her my issue, She basically just told me to get over it...Didn't offer any other solution other then regular Tylenol and a heating pad which I've been doing without any relief. I was sent home with a week's worth of Oxycodone which I was taking at night only to ease the pain when sleeping and it was getting better, The first week out I was fine thing's felt well and then I got this head cold and sneezed myself paralyzed.

  16. I was sleeved 9/8/14. I didn't experience gas pain, But I did have incision pain and it was managed well in the hospital. After I was released the next day, Pain was minimal but still present they sent me home with pain meds which helped. You aren't able to feel the stomach inside that's been cut and it hasn't been painful to drink, Since day 2 I've been getting all my liquids and protein in no issue. Honestly, Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.

    Miserable

Seriously I don't want to complain about this surgery, It's what I wanted and did it for a very good reason. I'm 5 day's out and on full liquids I feel like thing's are falling apart and I'm just trying my best to hold it all together. I'M STARVING!!..I've gotten in all 64oz of water and 80grams of protein and I'm so hungry I'm about to crack! It doesn't help that my husband decided it would be an awesome idea to bring 2 large pizza's into the house for himself and my small 4 year old daughter that will only eat 1 slice, But yet he thought it was necessary to get two after I told him to get one..This isn't head hunger. It's not acid reflux or the need to drink more water, this is stomach eating hunger.. Taking my pain pills and wrapping up in a blanket for a long night's sleep, At least I won't feel hungry then. Hopefully..

He did but so did I and the man is a helpless fawn in the kitchen. I had to cook french fries and corn dogs tonight (his choice) I made it through. Thing's are getting better, I'm use to the hunger feeling now but I keep reminding myself I really only have 3 more day's till the soft food phase, So theres a light at the end of the tunnel coming soon.

@@marfar7 My husband is also obese and at this point has no plans to change himself. A day after the pizza we went shopping and cookies, jalapeño poppers, doughnuts, and whatever else processed junk was in the cart. Before the surgery I definitely had more then one conversation with him about supporting me and maybe even joining me on eating healthy and maybe join the gym together. So far it looks like I'm the only one on this journey, I can't push him to do something he doesn't want to do and I'm not about to. The night of the pizza I gave him the go ahead and told him I'd be fine, which honestly I probably would have been if it were one pizza because I knew it would be gone within a few hrs and out of sight, But no what I got were two pizzas sitting on my kitchen table for two days.

@@ochiatl Always great to see another HalloweenBaby! I really haven't been having a hard time with liquids, It's the one thing I have been doing right I guess. Not sure how I do it, but I'm able to take big sips post-op without issue. I'm not a "Sip sip sipper" Today I did one 33oz bottle of water, 16oz bottle and 2 11oz protein shakes without issue.
