  1. I am ready for a fill when I can eat vegetable sushi and tofu :hungry: I am ready for a fill when I need to drink even more water
  2. I tell selectively depending on the person My husband, mother and grandmother know as do my husband's parents. Other extended family members do not know.Chiefly because they will not be supportive or helpful. I have also told 3 friends of mine, and that's it for now. Leena I see that you had you surgery in New Brunswick. By any chance did you just graduate from Rutgers ? I went there as an undergraduate and am in CUNY now for Grad school. Lisa
  3. I'm staying on plan today because I like how my skin looks when I eat healthy and drink lots of water !:Banane30:
  4. I just wanted to share ... I went for my first fill at 6 weeks post op 9/14/07 and was following the mushy diet even though I didn't have very much restriction (guess my stomach didn't swell much?) just because I need for this to work. Well while I am sitting there waiting to see my doctor a delivery guy comes in and brings in 5 pizzas, calzones and hot antipasto for the office staff. Plus they just left it sitting there for a few minutes before anyone brought it back. All 30 people in the waiting room who had just had WLS or were going to be having it soon turned and stared. The smell was intoxicating. I was pretty miffed, I couldn't believe that they would do something so insensitive in a room full of people with an obvious addiction to food. So even those who should know better are sometimes callous.
  5. Hi I'm Lisa My starting weight was 342 lbs and I am 5'8" tall. I had a BMI of 53. Now 9 weeks later I weigh 300 lbs and have a BMI of 45!! Ok so what if my current BMI is higher then most peoples starting BMI, it's finally going down. I have a personal mini goal coming up soon I can't wait to hit 295 lbs which is how much I weighed 2 years ago when I became pregnant. I don't even know how much I weighed at the end of my pregnancy probably close to 375 lbs and I haven't been able to see a 2-- on my scale since.
  6. I had a bit of a bug :sick over the weekend day and threw up a few times. Yesterday and today my stomach has felt sore as though someone were sitting on my stomach. I have been able to eat some very plain mushy food like yougurt and tuna salad and water. That has stayed down very well. :hungry:I tend to worry a lot and just wanted to know if I was being paranoid. thanks
  7. THANKS FOR THE WELCOME! Karen, I'm in Staten Island and had my surgery done at Staten Island University Hospital, by Dr. Heather McMullen. The thing about being in NY is that there are so many great hospitals that preform the surgery. Where was yours done ?
  8. I remember being told to roll over onto a gurney off of the operating table and then I don’t remember much more until I was in the recovery room. I slept most of the time that I was in the recovery room (7hrs) but I also remember asking for morphine since I felt a lot of pressure on my stomach. I become very very ill after general anesthesia , so I was given zofran in my IV before, during and after my surgery. I wasn’t aloud to get up to urinate until the next morning and therefore was restricted to bedpans.
  9. Hi ! I’m Lisa, a 25 yo graduate student :glasses from NY, and I was banded on July 31, 2007. I only just came across this site a few days ago, but I think that this will be a great support system, and I look forward to getting to know everyone !My last known pre-op weight was taken on 7/27/07 and I weighed in at 342 lbs, (although I am sure it was even higher last year when I was pregnant). I am now down to 301 pounds. I feel great with “only” 41 pounds gone and feel like I now stand a chance at living a normal, happy and productive life!!! Though there are times when I wish that the weight would come off faster. I had my first fill on 9/14/07 and have felt VERY restricted ever since. I think that my biggest challenge has been chewing enough and not rushing to get done eating to go check on DS. Cheers !
