  1. I was that way until I started pureed foods. Now I'm wondering when I'm going to go....
  2. I am not into making my own shakes so I buy the Muscle Milk Pro Series 40g protein in 14 oz. in the mint chocolate flavor. I haven't gotten a reply from my NUT yet, but I just asked him if I can drink it as I would water or does is have to be taken slow like food. I am 4 1/2 weeks out and still on pureed foods but really like this protein shake but want to drink more than 3 oz at a time and drink it before it gets warm
  3. I've been avoiding drinking too much water at one time not knowing if it's good for the new tummy or not and my NUT has only told me to try drinking more. Before surgery, that was the main liquid I drank - so I'll start drinking it like I used to again. thanks! Question though, is it ok to drink the protein liquids that quick too? It's so hard for me to drink the muscle milk slow and 3oz at a time, I enjoy the flavor and want to drink it while it's still real cold.
  4. HW: 234 SW: 229 CW: 204 Surgery was 6/5 Doing great, no problems with Protein, Water or pureed, which I am on now. In fact, for lunch I mashed up 3 oz of avocado but got full after just half of that. My pureed list is very short due to being so pickey - so it's either yogurt, cottage cheese, avocado, refried Beans, Soups or Protein shakes. I have one more week on pureed and then move on to soft foods
  5. Congrats on the weight loss!!! I'm 3 weeks out and have lost 25lbs.
  6. I'm 3 weeks post op and when I had my Cigna paperwork turned in, they did require 2 years medical records, but in actuality, they just needed a print out of one office visit for year 2012 and 2013 - so I had asked the nurse to find the one from each year with my highest weight on them. I was approved within a week of submitting paperwork
  7. When I was on clear liquids, it was liquid in, liquid out several times a day. The second week was full liquids, same thing, different color... Now that I am on pureed, it's better, no gas but going every few days
  8. I have a CPAP but have had no troubles getting liquids done, sorry I can't help
  9. I went to the WLIA The Weight Loss Institute of Arizona -- Since I had everything done but the EGD, it was less than 30 days from my first appt there until surgery. I had my surgery June 5th - It was outpatient at their center, fantastic nursing and drs. and they were sooo much cheaper, as they have a program that takes a percentage off your bill. I ended up paying A LOT less than I would have at Banner!
  10. From the first day of surgery to day 6, every time I had gas, I'd run to the toilet... liquid in = liquid out six to eight times a day... I was getting raw and frankly feared expelling any gas, not knowing if I'd make a mess... FINALLY by day 8, I stopped going. Now on day 10, I'm done with all that and now looking forward to more normal in that dept.
  11. I went to Banner Gateway Bariatric, did my 90 day diet but then they told me that it would take 2 months of waiting to get my EGD done, I found another center because my husband's job is not stable and I didn't want to lose insurance before having surgery. But I did like their center.
  12. Hi all! I had surgery on Thursday June 5th -- It went great, the dr. fixed the hiatal hernia at the same time. I had surgery at 7:30am and was home by 1pm the same day. I had kept on the nausea patch the center gave me but needed no pain meds at all. I walked the first day some but not as much as I should have and had plenty of gas for the next few days but no pain. I had a drain removed the day after surgery and walked through costco and Walmart. As for the stitches, I have 5 incisions, and the steri-tape is still on and they are starting to itch, so I guess that means they are healing. I've done well with the clear Proteins, Water and broth the first week and now that it's week 2, I'm doing the Protein shakes as well as the week 1 things and doing well.
  13. I'm 4 days post-op and I've gotten whey Protein shots. They have 42 grams of protein in a 3.8 oz tube. I've gotten them at CNG and The Vitamin Shoppe. I've tried all the flavors, fruit puch, watermelon, grape and blue raspberry. They are sugar free as well. I like the raspberry the best and watermelon is the worst. The only thing is that they are real sweet and thick but two of those a day and my protein is done. I am looking forward to next week when I can add my Muscle Milk pro series 40g Protein shakes, the choc mint is wonderful!
  14. That was exactly what my letter said but I guess they got everything from the weight loss dr. and approved it without needing any info from me.
  15. Tomorrow I have surgery at 6:30am!!! I'm excited and I don't feel nervous but my tummy is gurgling so I guess deep down inside I am nervous. That and I'm sick of drinking shakes!!
  16. I've been the opposite for 8 of the 10 days of my liquid diet but yesterday and today my tummy is gurgling real bad and I'm having the runs too. In the past I've had milk/lactose issues but this doesn't seem the same. I'm thinking mine is from the chocolate.
  17. I'm still here too. My last day of pre-op diet and it's killin me!!! last night my tummy growled for hours. I've been doing so many shakes that I'm actually tired of them! To help with the CHEWING craving, I'm chewing Trident gum, dr. said that was ok... it seems to help me get thru the rough times. Tomorrow is surgery day and I'm kinda looking forward to a clear liquid diet for a while
  18. Good for you!!! I am on day 8 of 10 days and I was feeling the same as you until today. For some reason, my stomach was growling all day and the hunger pains were there too. I've been drinking the same things the entire time, so why now? I had to go read a book to get my mind over it, drink lots of water and a lil bit of praying.
  19. You know though, if you give in to your weakness now, I think it will be easier for you to do it again later... atleast that's how I feel and why I'm suffering thru it now -- the reward of being able to say no now, I think will help me to keep making better food decisions later.
  20. I'm right with you!! I have surgery on Thursday and tonight the cravings are the worst!! I've had no issues the past two weeks but tonight my stomach was growling terribly and the thought of another shake would make me ill. I want so bad to have the last meal before surgery be something tastey and satisfying but I've worked this far and in no way do I want to mess up surgery risks -- so I had some chicken broth and black cherry Jello. Hang in there, drink some Water and think about what the future holds for you!
  21. tomorrow is my last day of my pre-op liquid diet and I am so tired of chocolate!!! I never thought I'd say that but after drinking so many protein shakes a day, I'm so ready for my clear liquids to start after surgery.
  22. My dr. required a letter from the PCP but she just wrote it based on another doctor (my cardiologist) stating medical clearance was given although I am an intermediate risk for the surgery.
  23. I got the same letter, stating that they needed more info. - It was dated the same day the dr. turned in the paperwork. I received a letter dated one week later approving my surgery. To me, it looked as if they got the paperwork after the initial request from the dr. and it generated a letter.
  24. I'm enjoying the Oh Yeah! banana creme shake, it's 32 g protein for 14oz and my fave is Muscle Milk pro series 40g protein for 14 oz.. the chocolate mint tastes just like those thin mint girl scout cookies
  25. June 5th here too! Getting excited and just starting to get nervous now.
