wow-- your wieght loss is fantastic-- good for you. I grew up in VA also. I lived in Fairfax. My parents are still there. I still come up quite a bit. My dad is a harleypapa. He loves his bike-it's older now. He has a '87 Sportster.

    thanks for the input.
  3. Sounds nice--enjoy. We are going camping on the river this weekend. I plan to enjoy also-- except there will be 8 kids and husbands there. LOL. Wine should cure any stress though.

What Types Of Signals Do You Have When You Are Full? I Don't Think I Have Any!
  5. hey billy, I had surgery w/ Fusco on a monday, went shopping for hours on tuesday, stayed in bed most of the day wednesday, and was back pretty much to normal by thursday. Fusco and the staff are great--follow up care too!

Sorry, I tried to upload the video of the shuttle, but to no avail. 10.9mb. I went to the Dr for my 1st fill today, but he wouldn't fill me. He said I should be okay for now and if I start getting real hungry to get one. The 4oz fills me up, but I still get hungry late afternoon and crave ice cream late at night. Anyone else?
  7. Congrats to you!!! Take it easy and eat healthy. I've heard there is a chewable prenatal you can get from your Dr. If you need any nursing advice after the baby is born, feel free to ask. YAHOO!!!!
  8. I think all of us have been nervous at one point prior to the band. I am getting my first fill today, and I'm nervous as can be. I don't know why though. It's been great. I've lost 25 punds in 6 weeks. I've never PB'd. I follow the chew, chew, chew. I was worried about never eating certain foods again, but you can. As a matter of fact, I'm eating a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a few doritos now. It's only 4 oz and has 17 grams protien. As far as the munching, what's nice is now you only need one or two bites whereas before it was the whole thing. I agree, the only thing I regret is not getting it done years ago!!!!!

I'm with you on the heat. I took the kids to the beach to watch the shuttle yesterday. It was hot and crowded, but we had a blast. haha. There's nothing like watching the launches over the ocean!
  10. You'll be just fine. The only time I didn't feel good was for about 2 hours following surgery. The shoulder gas pains are wierd. They last for about 3 weeks. Nothing major though. I never took anything for the gas. My worst day was 2 days after surgery. I felt nauseous and tired. The day after I was out shopping for about 5 hours. Just enjoy the pain killers and walk to get that gas out. Walk, walk, walk. Otherwise, you will feel a lot of gas pain. I'll keep you in my prayers. If it's any consulation, I felt exactly the same way the day before. Then the day after, I was thinking why was freaking so much-- it was a breeze.
  11. Hi Robin, I know what you mean about needing that fill. My problem is that I love ice cream too much. I just need to stop buying it. LOL. Welcome to the bandsters.
  12. Yeah, I think I'll wait on the bras. I think Target has some. I really need a black one. Where did you find the chewable vitamin? I've been taking the Viactiv. I'm going to try and find some tastier shakes today. The lack of iron would definetly explain the run down feeling. I can't imagine a 46F!!! You poor thing. I bet your back is killing you. I'm a 38C now, was a 42D a few months ago. I have to take Catalyna for her 4month shots and Dylan for his 5 year shots on Thursday. Does anyone else want to take them for me--PLEASE!
  13. KIM, I was wondering if you think I should be consuming more Proteins or calories than I currently am taking. I average around 50 grams Protein or a little less and approx 800 calories a day. My baby is almost 4 months old. I must admit, I have been feeling a little run down lately. The nurse says it's pretty typical at this time post band, but they have never had a nursing mom either. It is really hard to get all the proteins in a day. Sometimes I struggle to get 30 grams and I hate those shakes. ps-do you know anywhere to get some pretty or black nursing bras? Thinjen, Sounds like we're in the same boat. My son will be 5 on August 26th and my daughter will be 4 months on the 29th of July. I had my band when my daughter was 11weeks.
  14. Hi thinjen, I was also very hesitant to talk to my doctor about nursing before I got the band, but once I did I was very grateful. He acted like it was no big deal at all. He said there was absolutely no reason why I couldn't continue to nurse. He said that if your body felt like it was being deprived in any way of nutrients or whatever, that your milk would just dry up. He highly doubted that would happen. Think of all the starving people in third world countries that nurse thier kids for years. Our bodies produce our own glucose and will regulate according to what we need. I'm so glad I spoke with my doctor. He made me feel much more confident in my decision to continue. I have been eating an extra 200-300 calories a day to supplement myself. It's actually quite nice, because I'm usually hungry around 3pm anyways. I just add a yogurt or egg. I'm taking in around 800 calories and 50-60 grams of protien a day. How old is your little one?
  15. I get real hungry around 3pm. I've been having a light snack, ie pudding, yogart, egg. But I guess once we get our first fill, that will subside. So hang in there until your fill. My first is next Wednesday. I can't wait. I could definetly eat more than the 4oz at a setting since I've been on regular foods!
  16. They definetly should NOT have put any fill in for atleast 6 weeks. You will poop out everything you put in. I did within 10 minutes the first few days. Then it subsides.
  17. You guys will do great. Before you know it you will be banded. I paid $15,750 in Melbourne. It includes unlimited fills.
  18. my o my, that's funny. I chewed a piece of steak, then spit it out. It smelled sooo good I couldn't help myself, yumm
  19. I am so glad to hear that I'm not the only one hungry. I have my first fill next wednesday. I'm kinda nervous though. I feel like I could eat so much more than I am eating. Is anyone taking protein shakes? How many grams of protein are we supposed to have each day?

Thought I would share a funny on how my husband and I met. One St Patricks day, my parents, aunt and I all went to Bennigans for a party. My dad (being the wild and crazy guy he is---eg. he dresses up as Elvis for parties and sings and dances--I still get embarrassed to this day) decided to enter the "best buns contest". He was up there shaking his money maker in his purple tighties--gyrating and all--women screaming. LOL. Anyways, they loved him, he made it to the finals. It was down to three guys. My dad and two others. Well, my dad didn't win, but my now husband did. My aunt later that night tells him "honey, you have the best buns in this place" (once again I'm so embarrassed). We've been together ever since. We laughed that night saying how funny it would be if we ever had kids to tell them how we met because of my daddy's hot buns. LOL

You are a trip my dear. Had me cracking up. The band is great. I was just banded three weeks ago. Advise: eat everthing you want this week and then some. Eat a big juicy steak for me. LOL I'm on liquids for another week- oh how good a steak would taste right now, but the beef bouillon comes in a close second. LOL. The week before I was nervous as could be, and now I can't believe the time has come and gone--nothing at all to worry over. Just worry over having to buy new clothes for the new you!
  22. Okay, I had it REAL bad. My maiden name was Mountjoy. Not only that, my cousins last name is Lusby. We got it from every angle. Heather is a joy to mount or a mountain of joy or almond joy and on and on and on. LOL. Now it's Joyner. Hey atleast we kept the Joy in our marriage. LOL.
  23. Have you needed any herbal supplements? Did you just pump regularly until you got back on a nursing schedule? I haven't taken any supplements other than Viactiv for Calcium and Vitamins. I pumped about every 4 hours, longer at night. That's probally why my supply went down for a bit. It was so nice at night to actually sleep a little more. My mom stayed with me for a week to help with the baby. The first night the baby got up several times, but not me---snoozing away. Gotta love it. We went camping over the 4th and Catalyna actually slept through the night. I had to wake her up at 8am cause I hurt sooo bad. Then we came back to reality and the garbage trucks and people leaving for work and a loud husband and a loud 4 year old. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted----4 days of a good night sleep. Ah, the memories. LOL
  24. Well, as many of you know, I was majorly concerned about continuing to nurse after my band. I nursed up until two hours before surgery. I was told by the doctors that I could nurse immediately following surgery except for the patch they put on me for nausea. So, I ended up bottle feeding Catalyna for 48 hours. I then nursed, but got really nauseous a few hours later. I bottle fed for another day. I kept pumping throughout. I was so worried that I was drying up though. I was only pumping like an ounce out of each breast. Once I started nursing again, I supplemented with 2 bottles a day. I eventually cut it back and I am back to nursing full time. The milk she is a flowing--yeah! All is great now. I definetly feel a little run down if I don't take a protein shake in the morning, but otherwise I'm great. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive and thank you God for letting me continue nursing.
  25. Well, I'm glad you all aren't feeling hungry, but I'm starving. I so desperately want to chew something. I am sooooo sick of liquids I could scream. Psychological? Maybe, but I'm just plain hungry. The only solice I get is chewing my Viactiv to liquid form. Monday I get pureed food- yum yum. You gotta love baby food.
