Yikes! Where we are now, the water has come up into the yard, and up to the patio - but that was during Ike. So, since that's the worst it's gotten at this house, then I think we're okay for future rains. I love playing in the rain, but with the potential for snakes and other ickies...I stay inside.

Yikes, Slim! :biggrin: The schools are closed because of flooding? Wow! I remember when we first moved to Houston, it was June 2006, and in July that year we had flooding so bad that a car in front of me started to drift sideways. I thought, "where the HECK did we move to?????"

I've said it before, KC - you are a superhero. I don't know where you find your energy! You're amazing!!! Dresses are fun! I love getting all dressed up every now and then...but then I end up barefoot by the time the night's over. Anyone ever heard of that country song - Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off? ...well, I relate to that song well. Don't know much about iAnything. DD's got an iPod and we struggle w/the software on it. I missed some boat somewhere between the technology age I grew up in and this new one where everything starts with "i".

Kat - I don't have ice cream in the house...for the most part it stays out. If we want it, we have to go get it and most times we're too lazy! And, ditto on the OUCH!!! I'd be in tears...I can take pain, but that bruising kind right on the bone makes me cry. :smile2: Okay, the hug was from you...the rest - that was me. He is a great hunny. I like him okay...guess I'll keep him. :biggrin: He's sick today - I think it's allergies, he's hoping it's not the flu. But, he gets sick every Oct. so I think it's just hitting early this year. I'm at work, about to start my day. How is everyone on this fine Monday?

No drinking for me! I had a glass of wine the other night, but just milk last night. I was craving junk (read as: Ice Cream) so I just drank about 4 glasses of milk to try to end that craving. It kinda worked. If I'd had it in the house, I'd have eaten some...but it did keep me from going to get some. :biggrin: (Too bad those suspended can't make a milk/cow joke.)

Thanks all for the rock ideas! :biggrin: I definitely debated about telling mom the MIL was here, but they've never met so thought it would be a good gesture. Mom just gets worse and worse with age! It's actually kind of funny. After she left DH and his dad came back and he and I were laughing about it. He made me smile in earnest, though, when he said he wanted to stick up for me and smack her down, but that she was good to DD so it's a tough call.

Pjtp my mom just came by to meet his mom for the first time. He and his dad are out golfing and my mother is horrible. In the first 5 mins she whined about the money she didn't get from her uncle's estate, then she trashed aurbon (sp) that his mom sells, she made some horrible reference to Gone With The Wind Scarlett O'Hara, she propped one leg sideways on the sofa while one was still on the floor (omg!), she said John (my stepdad) was faking hip pain (he's almost 80!) and then she called his mom's dog fat.

I'm not a follower - if I were I'd have jumped on the hamster joke bandwagon! There are SO many hamster jokes.

I'm out at din-din w/ the fam, resising the urge to knock back some wine. Had to bite my tongue earlier when the subject of DH's cousin came up. Future mil said she didn't understand why he chose to be gay. DH just looked at me, like uh-oh and then changed the subject back to football. We're all better off talking about football!!! I guess not drinking now is a good thing. I'd hate to say something too upsetting.

I luv you guys! We're in the car heading back from test tasting wedding venue. They made a carrot bisque for me and it was sooo good! I put that on the menu! Today is a great day!!

PJTP - You all know that the job front for me has been a little crazy. Layoffs are around once or twice a month since the beginning of the year. I work for a large oil tool company that just recently decided to merge all the divisions (a total of 9). I work as an admin in the Import/Export Compliance dept. So, with the announcement of the merge, we were told that we were moving to another building across town. I was told I'd work under Ms. Z with my co-worker Princess, but it wasn't made official. Then Princess was out last week and Ms. Z was notified and I was cc'd on the email...and Ms. Z sent an email asking if anyone there could do the imports while Princess was out. My first thought was, "If I'm on Z's roster, then why doesn't she know I exist???" I immediately replied with a "look at me!" email. Another email came out later that was generic, from the big-big boss, and I sent an email with a few well-worded questions and was told that pretty soon I'll be moving under Ms. M. M??? wth? When did that change? So, still not knowing what's what, I let it rest a few days. Yesterday our group was invited to go to the other location and participate in a cookout they were having. I had a BALL!!! When we got back I sent an email to the big boss that I wanted to talk to him. He called me later at home! I was not prepared for that. He said I was safe, I had a home there and that I was getting a promotion. (Title only, grade and $$ won't come while layoffs are happening, but will later.) I won't be an admin, I'll be handling exports along with a team of others whom I adore! I am so relieved and so happy. I had an interview for another department and now I'm thinking of cancelling that. It's not at all appealing, but it was a job and I was worried...now, I'm soooo happy beyond belief!!! Sorry for the lengthy post!!! DH's 'rent are almost here...need to finish cleaning up a bit. Ya'll have a GREAT weekend!
