    Hurt our new tummy

I was on yogurt at day 3, full on squishy at day 7. As for hurting ones stomache do as your doc recommends. If you over do you will experience some nasty pain or so I have been told. I always follow my docs orders and havent had a problem.

    I can eat so much.

You will lose on 1300 calories. As for being able to eat that many, it gets easier over time and also depends greatly on what foods you eat.
  4. Hell, I would snort coffee if I could. It’s the best appetite suppressant I have found. Before surgery I couldn’t drink it because I wouldn’t sleep. Now I can down a cup before going to bed and sleep. The acid doesn’t bother me very often. Surgery has allowed coffee back into my life.
  5. My WL shrink suggests setting a weight range of plus or minus 5 lbs and weighing everyday. She has kept off 150 lbs for going on 11 years. Sure your going to have bad days, but if you check yourself everyday its not to hard to get back in line. As others have said this is a life time commitment.

HOW DO YOU COPE POST OP?

    1) Can you chug Water like you once were able to? I could drink water without an issue from the moment I got out of surgery. It was the first thing the nurses had me do. At the time I was so excited everything worked:) So yes you will be able to chug water, but it wont be exactly like you use to, but very close. I also find real cold water goes down a bit harder. 2) following weeks post op, and the energy level is extremely low...what helped you gain it back? especially during liquid diet phase? Energy is a difficult question to answer. It took me about 1 week before I felt comfortable driving because of low energy. I am now 5 months out and still feel my energy level improving. Water intake is huge for me to have energy. 3) how long until you felt "normal" again? Normal another good question. At 5 months out I keep asking myself do I feel normal. I was back at work in 5 days. I feel more normal as the time passes. Face it this surgery does major things to your chemestery. In the first month I had gout associated with weight loss. I also had low blood sugar issues that I learned to control. The mental part is probably the toughest thing to get use to. Again, water for me is the secret to feeling normal. Many of your old habits will never feel normal again. It takes a while to get use to that. You might also find you need naps daily, but that has seemed to pass for me. Being cold all the time is another non normal thing I have to deal with. But at 100 lbs down , I can live with it. 4) any anxiety attacks?? I have dealt with anxiety for many years. I can honestly say I no longer take any anxiety medication. It was daily for me before the surgery. The closest thing to anxiety I have experience has been low blood sugar. The first attack felt like anxiety, but during this episode I reasoned that it was low blood sugar and took a drink of fruit juice. Within minutes I was feeling much better. I make sure to eat 2 peices of fresh fruit daily. Seems to keep my blood sugar in the green. I guarentee you will have second thoughts after surgery which could bring on anxiety, but these are short lived events and the weight loss will more than make up for it. You will feel like super man or super women couple of months out. Its like being 20 all over again.
  7. I was able to pay for those using my before tax medical account.

    Shopping List Needed

I wouldnt suggest stocking up. Purchase what you need as you need it. Your diet will change many times over the first month to six weeks. You really dont need to worry about Protein shakes. Instead make sure you get your Water in. For me protien shake were a thing of the past after surgery. After the first couple of weeks I could get the 60 gr of protien in eating real food. Shakes in my opinion are nothng but liquid calories. However, some on this site feel differently. Greek yogurt will become your best friend.
  9. I switch from alcohol to coffee. After trying a few drinks post surgery I have found its just not for me. I enjoy sobiety.

DOCTOR SAYS I AM EXERCISING TOO MUCH.

I found ithe aly stages that blood sugar could get low and make me dizzy. To combat that I eat 2 servings of fruit a day. As one other post said we do need carbos. I would like to add just not the grain and potatoe kind of carbos.
  12. My support group has 2 gals that have had the conversion. Both love the change and wish they had a sleeve in the first place.

    Protein two years out

    Yes 60 grams minimum
  15. At two weeks out you shouldn't worry about calories or protein. Water should be your main concern. Per my Doc your body can handle a month without hitting the protein goals.

    Bathroom problems

It took me about a month to get semi regular. I agree, softners are not the answer

    Help from a pro?

First off you do not need vitamin supplements for the first month. Main concentration should be water, water and more water. If I were you, I would not stock up on anything unless the grocery store is difficult to get to. You will want outings and this gives you one. Keep in mind you wont be eatin much. From my point of view I dont care what the specialty item costs. You will get sick of broth and creamed soups just like the protein supplements. By the time you can eat squishy food you can get your protien in without shakes. In other words, dont buy a big keg of protein powder unless you really like the stuff. Most of us dont. As for mixing supplements. I was told not to do vitamins withing 2 hours of calcium. Again your a month out from using either one.

    Really upset with psych

I am so glad my Psych is also a very successful bariatric patient. She knows all the issues first hand.

    HOW many calories?!?!

If you pare the caveman diet (Paleo) with all the hunter gatherer exercise required to collect the food none of us would need the sleeve.
  21. par1959

    Alcohol...how much with the sleeve?

You can drink until you puke, if you so choose.
  22. Excellent, I am closing in on the 100 lb mark. 9 lbs to go.

    HOW many calories?!?!

I cant talk for others, but after counting calories for a period I can look at what Im served and calculate the calories. I have found that some restraunts underestimate their calorie count on the menus. Just because its on the lite menu doesnt mean it is lite. For example, Shari's has a 3 egg denver omlet with the works hashbrowns, toast and lots of cheese at 530 calories. First off toast starts at 100 calories a slice without the butter. Cheese is about 100 cals per ounce, eggs in this case come in a 228 not including the oil they were cooked in. There is 500 cals and we havent got to the hash browns or ham. Luckly my sleeve only lets me eat about 1/2 the omlet and nothing else.
