Finally - 8 Week Stall Is Over! (I Hope!)

That was way back in 2012. She may have been following her surgeons instructions. We all have our own path to follow.
  2. @@Joz31 blur your face, and don't let them use your name. I keep forgetting we had the same surgeon. I did let them use mine, even though I haven't reached goal yet. Can you find me on their page???
  3. Not me. Constipation for me. I still struggle with it 7 months out.

    Anyone skipped anti-DVT injections?

I knew people who went back and forth every day to the hospital to have a nurse administer them, because they just couldn't do it. Ya gotta do it, or find someone who will.

    Dying!

@@HappyNean32 The title of your thread kinda scared me a little...I won't lie. You are NOT dying on day one of liquids. On day 2 you will have a headache, so be forewarned. My surgeon approved excedrine migraine, so call them if you get a bad headache, and see if your surgeon will approve something to help you through the preop period. Oh...and naps are your friend during preop. You can't eat if you are asleep, plus it helps your days go faster. You'll make it. Look at the rest of us. We did it, and so can you. Keep reminding yourself that YOU are worth it. And it isn't forever. It's just something you have to do so the surgery goes smoothly. Gotta shrink that liver!! You CAN do it!!

The fear of regain is REAL!

@@kisha585 I wondered that too. It amazes me how people can do that. I work with some women who never lost anything after their surgeries, and I just don't understand!

    0 nicotine E-cig. Just saying.

    So freakin nervous!

It will be over before you know it, then you look back and think...it wasn't so bad!

My breath is kickin like chicken.

keep a breath spray close at hand. I think it does eventually level out, once we add in a few more veggies. But I keep a breath spray in my pocket. Every day. I get them at the dollar store, since I use them so often. I don't recommend chewing gum btw. It would suck to accidentally swallow a piece of gum, ya know?

Leak failed to heal. Now having surgery

My goodness you have been through a lot. You must be a really strong person to have endured this, and still sound uplifting in your comments. You are not all doom and gloom. I believe attitude will get you almost everything. Blessings to you. Praying for your healing and swift recovery.

The fear of regain is REAL!

@@Elode I also have been noticing what other people put into their mouths, and it's disgusting. People eat SO fast!! Shoveling in the food, and no conversation, no relaxation to just enjoy the moment. I am so grateful for this surgery. I am not as young as you are, I am 53, but I feel as young as you. My knees used to hurt, and my feet....OH MY FEET!! No more. I feel so amazing, and I still have a ways to go to hit my goal. The past 6 months since my surgery has flown by, and I get to see my family who criticized me LAST Thanksgiving for even considering WLS. They told me I would DIE. They told me I would FAIL. I'm looking forward to seeing their faces when I am skipping in with my casserole of mashed cauliflower while rocking my size 10 Wrangler 100% cotton jeans (I detest Lycra in my jeans!) and "KC Royals" T-shirt, instead of my size 20W S-T-R-E-T-C-H jeans and A-line tunic in a horrible pattern (but it was all that fit). I am so glad that we have our little community here for support. And I know you won't judge me for rambling.

    What's everyone eating for thanksgiving?

We better go out and get our cauliflower now.....cuz it looks like there will be a rush on it this year as a substitute for potatoes!!

@@Kindle o my gosh! Sorry to hear about your gallbladder. The timing kinda sucks.

    What's everyone eating for thanksgiving?

I am taking loaded twice baked mashed cauliflower casserole!! HEAVENLY!! That and turkey with a little gravy! Everybody will be a little healthier for it! With that, no one needs potatoes, cuz they taste like potatoes and the texture is just like potatoes (thank you, food processor). I'm sure folks will bring rolls, and Desserts. But I will be full with my little bit of turkey and cauliflower. I can't wait!!

    Packing My Hospital Bag...

chapstick, a comb or brush, undies, socks, and just wear home what you wore there. Keep it lite, you're not going to be there long, and while you're there, all you will want to do is sleep, when you're not up walking.

The fear of regain is REAL!

oh wow. I'm going to use them as motivation too. I'm so sad that they had the surgery, and didn't do what they needed to do to lose the weight. I have those same fears. I think I'll stay in this site and keep talking to people like you so I can be reminded, if I ever forget why I had this surgery. So....I'm counting on my BP friends to keep me honest!

    Flu shot?

I get a flu shot every year since I was 6 months old. I am 53. Never have gotten the flu.

    I f*****g love protein shakes!

Yeah...I'm one of those that still needs 1 Protein shake a day at 6 months out. I tried going without, and I stalled FOREVER! 1 Premier chocolate protein shake a day and I'm losing again!

    Losing Family and Friends

Yes that happens. It's amazing how when you gain your self esteem, and realize your self worth that these people in our lives that we believed were our "friends" we find out were really only our foul weather friends. We realize they never really cheered when we had achievements, or rallied when we needed support. But they were there when we were miserable, because misery loves company. It made them feel superior when we felt like a loser. I speak only for myself. I don't know you or your friend, but that was my experience. If I see that person in my life who treated me that way I will smile and chat for a minute. But I have people now who support me, and care about my well being. I was totally running with the wrong crowd. My new crowd is awesome, and I never would have found them if I hadn't stepped out of my comfort zone and took care of ME. You are worth it. Just remember that.

Help! I Don’t Want to Lose My Hair!

Luckily I only had normal shedding, so no hair loss for this gal!! But, I have been taking Biotin for about 4 years prior to surgery to grow out a short short pixie cut (which was NOT the best cut for me as obese as I was.....but no one told me that!!) My hair is long and wavy. and thick and full. I had the fear, but it wasn't enough to stop me from getting healthy with this surgery. I figured...if I was one of the unlucky ones who lost their hair, they make wigs, or I could shave my head and deal with it. Nothing was going to stop me from this life changing/saving procedure! Sleeves ROCK!
  23. My weightloss slowed down, and my Dr put me on a reset of the preop diet again. So 4 shakes and Water or broth, or SF popsicles, or SF Jello. for 5 days. I did it!! It brought back the tight restriction. And I lost 6 pounds. But I am down a total of 76 pounds. I wish it was more, like everybody else.
