    Starbucks...

Im still losing. Not as quickly though, since I don't have as much weight to go. I like having them because they give me a pick me up. I just wonder if I'm over doing it.

    So diappointed

Definitely follow through with an appeal like everyone else said! They may say no the first time, but they should understand with the extra weight you're at a greater risk for diabetes and other comorbidities. They'll be paying more if you should develop other diseases. Also, your doctor needs to fight for you. Do not give up now!!!
  3. I'm right there with you and I'm 8 months out! I've been seeing my therapist for other unrelated issues for over a year and a half, but emotional eating comes up a lot. The problem is that it comes on sooo strong and by the time you realize why you're craving food, its too late, you've already eaten it. I have broken a lot of bad habits (drinking soda, eating fast food, ect.), but this one is so tough. One thing you could try is diet cocoa. I drank a cup every night for a week and it really helped. I lost 5 lbs that week just from not eating at night. Amazing huh? It's all mind over matter. Getting to the root of the problem will really help, but for now just try a cup of something hot at night and see if that helps. Good Luck!
  4. I guess it just seems crazy to me that you're 7 weeks post op and you're still eating soft foods. At 7 weeks I was already eating solids (meat, salad, ect). Ive never been to Vegas, but isn't that where you can get the all you can eat buffets for super, super cheap??? That's gonna be hard! I never went out to eat during the soft food stage. I was always so worried about what I could order, but you're in a predicament. I guess I would just follow your nutritionists advice and stock up on your Protein shakes. Even if you order eggs out, they could bother your stomach if they're made with rich butter or oil. I gave all my info to a friend, but I was wondering if you could eat soft fish (like tilapia). I can't remember what you can eat, it was awhile ago. Sorry I'm not much help, but I hope you have a fabulous time!
  5. Congratulations and welcome to the Onederland club!!! I know what you mean about your stomach. I keep looking at mine and think I'm still 320lbs, but I know I'm not because i wear a 14/16. It's all in our minds. We're so use to seeing ourselves so overweight that its hard to get use to the new us. Keep up the awesome work!

    Help how to slow down

In the beginning I would take a small bite, put my spoon or fork down, then count to 60. So, I would wait a minute in between bites. It really helped me. I'm 8 months out and sometimes I still do this so I know that I am taking 25 mins to eat my meal. Good Luck!

    Help with my Hair!

Mine started falling out around the 4 month mark and it stopped around the 7th month. It's now just starting to grow back. It was a nightmare with all the hair around, and I could never wear my hair down. After it stopped falling out I went and got kind of a bob cut, and that thickened it up for me. I'm just glad not to see hair clogging the drain anymore! Congrats on your 64lbs lost!!

    I did it!

I finally made it! I'm under 200 lbs. The scale read 199.6 this morning and I couldn't be happier! Hello Onederland

    I did it!

    Congrats!

    I did it!

Thanks! I started at 320. I lost 30lbs before surgery, so i went in at 289. So since March 17 I have lost 89.4 lbs. I feel pretty good!

New self image in my dreams

I'm constantly having those dreams! Or, sometimes I'll have bad dreams where someone is talking about my weight (as if I'm still really heavy), and I'll be like "Don't you know I've lost 119 pounds!" It just goes to show its constantly on our minds.

    Eating too fast

Eating in 5 mins won't cause you to gain weight. You ate the proper portion. However, it won't keep you full for very long. 5 mins = 1 hour. So if you eat your meal in 25 mins, you should be full for the next 5 hours. It doesn't always work that way, at least for me, but when I eat slowly it does keep me fuller for longer. Not to mention that when you're eating all your dinner in 5 mins you're not giving the stomach time to release what's already in there, and you risk having pain from feeling extremely full. Slow down and take your time. It definitely makes a difference. I'm guessing you're in the pureed food stage. When you start to eat solids you'll know you have to slow down.
  15. Any other night eaters out there? Its the only time of the day that I lose control. I have tried just drinking a hot drink, but its kinda failing me now. If you like to eat at night, what are you trying to do to combat those cravings?

    counting calories?

MyFitnessPal is great for tracking calories, fat, protein, ect. My doc doesn't really want me counting calories, but I have to, to keep myself accountable. I'm 7 months out and could eat just about anything. It keeps me on track!

    Hairloss Stopped!

Mine started falling out at about the 4th month and it stopped about a couple of weeks ago (I'm 7 months out). I was sooo happy. I was able to wear my hair down and style it again! I do use Nioxin shampoo which is helping it grow back.

I am hungry! Am I crazy?

I felt hungry after 6 weeks. However, sometimes we have to distinguish what is really hunger and "head" hunger, where we think we're hungry. Could you be bored, or are you an emotional eater. I'm 28 weeks out and am still learning these cues. It'll take some time, but I promise there is nothing wrong with you!
  19. My stopped falling out just about a week ago. I'm almost 7 months post op. I remember it starting to fall out around the 4 month mark.

    I did it!

Today I ran my first organized 5K! The Color Run DC. I ran the whole thing keeping my normal pace of 11:15-11:30. There was a huge hill too! I'm so proud of myself. This is definitely the first of many!

    I did it!

Thanks esskay! I've always liked running, but to get myself back into it, I would run for 1 min walk for 5 mins. Then I would just gradually increase my time. Im up to running 4 miles now. To me it's about distance and not speed.

    Feeling stuck :(

Thanks everyone for the advice. I do see the doc next week so we'll see what he has to say. I'm thrilled with what I have lost so far, but I definitely don't believe my body is ready to be done. I'm still considered obese.
  23. I'm 27 weeks post op, and I feel stuck. It's not really that I feel like I'm stalling (which I've had plenty before), it's that I feel like my body is ready to maintain. I have lost 114 pounds and I'm not done yet. I have 56 more pounds I'd like to go. Any veterans out there that can tell me that maybe I'm just starting to really slow down, and that I'm not done losing weight. I guess I'm annoyed. You drop so much weight and then, nothing. I was eating 1200 calories and losing just fine. Now, I feel like I need to drop down to 1000 or lower to lose. I see my doctor next week, but I was hoping to hear from other's experiences. Anyone out there that can make me feel better??

    Exercise

For bastric bypass, I was told that I could go back to my spinning classes 2 weeks after surgery. I would be weary of lifting weights for awhile.
  25. I wasn't allowed to have greens until the 7th week. You may just want to check with your doc.
