My wife and I have set our sites on having Dr. Quilici do both of our VSG procedures in November and January respectively. Anyone have any further insight or experience with the good Doctor. So far, I'm pretty comfortable with the process.

My husband gets terrible conztipation. After what I read here I thought it might help him... we did it 3 times. My butt is so sore I can't sit down and he STILL hasn't pooped.

Well...this is it! I started my 2 week liquid diet this morning. My surgery is scheduled for 11/7. I have my pre-op tests done on 11/3. My wife is still waiting for her insurance approval but they expect it to come through next week and her date is tentatively 11/21. "...For better, or worse...richer or poorer...fat or thin..."

Fortunately, I've been living on the "One Day at A Time" program for many years now. This is such a fundamental shift in my existence and, while the benefits from this surgery are immeasurable, I can't really think much beyond today.

So, for right now...right this very minute...I'm doing just fine.

Hi everyone! I have just decided this past week to pursue weight loss surgery (possibly the sleeve). I can't take hearing how pretty I would be if I lost weight another time. My final straw was lying to my husband..... He is taking me on a cruise for our anniversary... We were deciding on flying or driving. I lied to him... I told him I was scared of flying so we agreed We would drive to the port.... I can't take any of this anymore. I want a life of less fear and more LIVING. I just pray that I will qualify and not have any issues getting this done. I need help!!!

Lennyb724 got a reaction from Gr8fulMiniMe in WLS and 12 Step Support
    Good Morning:
This is my first post on this forum and I'd like to say how amazingly grateful I am for all the information and support. I have really immersed myself in the tide of knowledge and experience contained here, it's almost overwhelming.
In addition to being an aspiring pre-op sleever, I'm also a sober/clean alcoholic/addict. I've been working the steps of AA for 15 years and my wife, who is also a newbie pre-op sleever, has 21 years. We're pretty active in our various programs but neither of us have had much in the way of results working an OA program. Furthermore, I've observed a fair amount of, shall we say "resistance" within the OA community where I live to embrace people who have chosen WLS as a solution.
As much as I like and will continue to use this forum extensively, it seems like it might be difficult to preserve one's anonymity here and the Traditions we observe compel us to guard our anonymity at the public level.
Therefore, I've decided to start a secret group on Facebook called "WLS Support for 12 Steppers" and we are welcoming anyone who is pre-op/post-op WLS of any kind, AND who also happens to be in any 12 Step program regardless of malady. If you are interested in being added to that group, please message me your Facebook email address (which is in the "About" section of your profile) and I will send you an invite.

    Thank you for your interest.

I was sleeved in December and my husband was sleeved in April, so we are 5 months out and one month out.
I am so glad we are able to support each other. Plus, now that he's on more or less regular food, we can always split dishes. food is cheap!

A first this sounds good, then all I can think is how fast does it relieve constipation....
    Talk about killing the mood.
To the OP: My boyfriend and I were oraly intimate 4 days post op, and vaginal shortly there after. So at 5 months I can't see any problem if your in the mood. TBH (tmi warning) I've been too drained over all for anal, as it takes more effort lol. ENJOY!!!!

Given that anything going in your anus would have to travel at least 25 feet through your intestines to reach your stomach, I'm going to guess hell no unless your partner is some kind of serious anatomical freak or you have the world's longest toy at your disposal.

My husband and I were both sleeved in Oct 13. He has already reached goal with a loss of 105lb and I have lost 78lb. I still have 44lb to go. It has been great because we were on the same food stages at the same time I also find we have had more patience for each other. The prob now which we were aware of going into this was that male's will lose faster and in my husbands case NO exercise and hardly any stall.
I on the other hand walk for an hour 5x week and I'm always in a stall lol. So it can be a little frustrating but it is also the perfect incentive for me because it proves to me that it works and it keeps me motivated when I am stalled.
Something to watch out for is that he now has to increase his calorie's and carbs to stop the weight loss which he is struggling with at the moment. While I have to be careful to remember I Can't eat what he can, i do have to continue to exercise and I do have to stay on plan if I want to lose the rest of my weight. In saying all of that YES I would recommend couples do this together it's the best thing we have ever done.

I haven't been on here much lately since I'm over a year out. It's sad that there are so many negative things on here now because when I first got on here it was very postive and extremely helpful. I also had the best experience, the easiest surgury and recovery you can imagine. People need to hear the great stories. This surgery changed my life and I feel awesome now even though I still have a little ways to go. Good luck to you.

Man, that's tough! I'm several months out, but I can totally identify with your experience. I got clean and sober many years ago and for the first few months my home was not safe. It made that difficult time much more challenging than it needed to be.
This time around my wife is also sober and we're doing this together. I'm sorry your family isn't being as sensitive to your situation as they could be. But you know that this is one of the hardest parts and you will get past it. Hang in there. You've come so far already and the fresh start you're after has already begun!

    1 month post op.....
I LOVE my sleeve! I'm so glad I did this! Even though I had a stall for almost 2 weeks that I finally broke this week, I feel amazing!!!! So far, I'm down 20.5 pounds! Yesterday marked one month. I know if I didn't have my sleeve, I would still be sluggish, 20.5 pounds heavier and not fitting into my clothes better! Best decision ever!!!!
