  1. Great to read all the happiness! I had my 3 month on Monday. 30 pounds total and my slow loss and plateau that lasted 4 weeks is over. BMI is just out of obese realm but hovers dangerously close. I can, unfortunately, eat just about anything I halve tried. Have not done much bread, fried, or pastas and hope not to...can drink alcohol but must be vigilant. Exercise is so much easier but not yet habit. Hoping to knock off 10 these next 6 weeks and then deal with it maintaining before taking on the next 10 pounds.
  2. I would run, not walk, to look seriously into this surgery. I think it is a wonderful TOOL. I am still and wil always struggle with emotional eating but this process has given me hope and success. I had a BMI around 37. I think it is now 29.8. I am 5 feet tall, older, and a slow loser. I have no regrets. You can reclaim your life and look forward to amazing years with future children. I would suggest doing your research and medical appointments without involving your mom or anyone who may not get it. It is often a long enough process that you as the patient get the chance to decide if this way of life is for you. I wish you great success and enjoyment of the whole process!

    Hair loss!

I am amazed at how thin my hair has become and am thankful for thick hair. I am wearing hats and headbands so I don't get hair in food etc. Saw my dr for three month check and he said it was due to lack of protein, however, I am getting protein in. I think if it happens it happens. But, I did start 5000 mg of biotin. I use hairspray to hold everything in but lose enough to plug up the shower. No bald spots but, totally different for me. Hair dries in moments.

    Bread

I tolerated toast early on in the game. 1/2 slice. As what others have said, there are so many other yummy things to eat, that are much healthier, so I just avoid it. I noticed that dry and crunchy is a slider food for me so I really should try to make peace with abstinence.

    Help needed please, and prayers

Thanks for the update, Cowboy. Sorry about the NG tube, but if it works, give it a little caress from your peeps at Bariatric Pal. Will keep you in my prayers.
  11. You have lost 5 pounds more than I did at that time... Not that we should compare but, sometimes it feels good!! I went to dr today for my 3 month. I have lost 27 pounds since day of surgery. Not sure what I list pre op. I could not make eye contact with the scale! Dr and nurse were pleased with the loss although I was concerned that I had ruined my stomach also...be kind to yourself. Don't give up. Eat your protein!

When did your hair loss start?

I have been losing SO MUCH hair. Drain plugs up during every shower, and I am wearing hats when I am in kitchen so hair doesn't fall into the family food. The right side of my head is more affected. My weight loss has really stopped also. 4 pounds in 7 weeks, so I have some crap go in' on. I don't have bald spots... Yet. Does this happen?

    Comparison: VSG to C section?

I had two c sections and total hysterectomy. My sleeve recovery pain was the worst... I think because of scar tissue adhesions from all the surgeries in that region.

    The Best Protein Powder?

I like the syntax nectar Fuzzy Navel. It is not thick. 2 scoops is 200 cal and I drank it all day long. I would mix up two scoops in a Tervis tumbler and then pour over ice which would dilute it. Premier protein are good. Vanilla and chocolate.

    Adjustment phase

I just looked at my holiday challenge numbers and I was on a 4 week stall. It certainly seemed longer. So many fears that that was all I would lose! But, am feeling more optimistic. Hope you see the scale move soon!!
