  1. Thanks for that! I am so glad I cancelled now.... I just did not like the fact that no one had been to him and I had also read the fact that he only did 2-3 a month. I am so excited to meet Dr. Mumford tomorrow at the SWLC in Mississauga!
  2. Hi Caramia, I do not think the surgery is covered in any way by OHIP and I have not contacted Sunlife (Insurance provider). I plan to ask about that in my consult. I expect in the end this will cost me $16,000. I had wanted a new car but this I think is the better choice
  3. thanks again! I will get more chocolate judging what people have said. I just had a call confirming my appt tomorrow. Turns out I am meeting with Dr. Mumford not Dr. Coburn. I have mostly heard about Coburn so was suprised I will be seeing Mumford. is he as nice as you say Dr. Coburn is?
  4. Hi All, I am going for my consult tomorrow. During the phone call the coordinator asked my weight, she said I would more than likely need 3 weeks on the Optifast. I am ok with that as it will mean more weight off sooner, but am concerned on the flavors. What flavor do you all like? Is there any that are awful? Thanks!!!
  5. Thank you all so much for the information on SWLC, needless to say I am super excited for tomorrow! I need just a little more advice. Catherine there said that with my weight 3 weeks of optifast will be needed most likely. How is the stuff? Any flavors I should get more of or any that are awful? It will be a long 3 weeks so I want to have the best ones.....
  6. Well that is not bad... I was thinking of taking a week off to recover.... that is great to hear!
  7. Way to go! I go for my consult on Tuesday. How long are you taking off work? I work in a call centre and am curious how much time I will need off.
  8. I am so excited!!! I have my consult on Tuesday!! The ball is rolling now finally! I gave up on Dr. Tin as no one here has heard of him. I am very excited to meet Dr. Coburn and his team. Katherine said that he can give me my surgery date right there..... so exciting!! I cannot wait to become an active part of the boards and get my ticker going... you all seem so supportive and helpful. My name is Jackie, I am 28 (about to be 29) and live in Mississauga! Does anyone have any advice or tips for the consult? Should I bring anything in particular? I have already emailed my questionaire so any extra info is appreciated!:clap2:
  9. I had a consult next week too and cancelled. I just did not like that no one had heard of him either. I now have a appt with the SWLC in Mississauga.
  10. Thanks to all for your advice and experiences. I am still waiting on my DR. to let me know when my consult is so am anxiously waiting on the call. I am really leaning towards Coburn's clinic as NO ONE seems to know Dr. Tin out of Credit Valley.
  11. For those of you who saw Dr. Coburn, did you have to go get a full physical? I went to my DR. already to get a referral. He took blood and checked my pressure etc. Is that enough? Also, when you had your consult how long was it until the surgery was booked?
  12. Hi Cindy, He works out of the Credit Valley hospital in Mississauga. Here is some info on him... Hospital News
  13. Hi, I posted earlier in the week asking about Dr. Coburn. You all had great advice, thanks. I also have a consult with Dr. Lance Tin in Mississauga. Has anyone been to him? If yes, how was your experience?
  14. Thanks Cindy. I am most wondering about the "pre-op checklist completed by family doc". What kind of things on that list? I just went to see him and had blood done and blood pressure. Did you need more extensive done from your family doc? Thanks for the info!
  15. Hi All, I am ready to get the band and have made a step in the process by visiting my family doctor and getting his blessing. I was going to see Dr. Lance Tin at Credit Valley but he has not responded to the referral. Also the more I read here, the more I see a lot of you have been to Dr. Mumford in Mississauga. For those who have been to Mumford or his colleauges can you please list a detailed step by step of what you had to do from consult to surgery date? Include any forms you had to fill or have filled out, any tests you had to have, any diet you had to go on and how long between each passed? I am just curious on what the steps are and what I can expect. I just hate surprised and would like to know exactly what I am gettting into. Thanks so much in advance!
  16. I am about to go for my 1st consult to get banded and I am wondering if there is anything you cannot eat. Whether the DR. told you, or if it just makes you sick. I am curious how it will be.
  17. Hi All, I am new to this site and am going to have the lap band. I am trying to get in with Dr. Lance Tin in the Toronto area and wondering if anyone else has had their surgery from him?
