I'm Back and I'm Banded

Hi Everybody,

I had my surgery at 9:30 am today and everything went very well. I was up and out of the clinic by noon. Lucky the anesthetic wore off very quickly. Everybody at the clinic were amazing!

I don't have the typical gas pain in my left shoulder but I do have a dull ache in my back. I took one dose of liquid codeine at 7pm and figure I will take one more right before bedtime just to take off the edge. I even went for a walk around the block and it's almost 10 pm and I'm not tired yet. Luckly, I am a quick healer so I am thankful for that.

I am really looking forward to some nice tomatoe Soup tomorrow!

Thank you for all your good thoughts and I'm glad to be an official bandster now.....LET THE LOSING BEGIN!:)

Careful Liana - better check the post-op instructions - think you have to wait til Saturday for the tomato soup - isn't it clear broth tomorrow?

Congratulations and enjoy your new friend - the next month is going to be a real journey.

Cindy

Way to go! I go for my consult on Tuesday. How long are you taking off work? I work in a call centre and am curious how much time I will need off.

Lianna, so glad you are doing so well. Have your girls no clue yet? I dont know how you could hide it. Anyway, cant wait to meet for a coffee and see how you are doing...but I'll let you recover first....Rose

Hi Lianna;

I am so happy for you. Sounds like you are sailing thru your 1st day.

Keep you fluids up and get some Pedialyte if you get headachie or weak feeling.

Congratulations on getting your new friend, your band.

Congrats on the band. I'm glad to hear things have gone well. I'm getting mine Oct 12 and looking forward to it. Its good to hear your doing well.

Yeah, to the original post, tomato soup is a FULL liquid, everybody's post-op diet is different time-wise, but i'm pretty sure most ppl follow similar stages. And you should see if you're supposed to be on CLEAR liquids for a few days.

Thanks for the good wishes everybody! Yes, you were right about the tomato soup being a full liquid. Didn't have it until Saturday. So I am now back on the Optifast shakes and soup for the next week. I'm not really hungry and am trying to drink lots of Water.

Rose: Would love to meet you for coffee sometime soon! I really feel like I'm a part of the "group" now that I am banded. Maybe we can arrange something over the next week or so?

I told one of my daughters why I had the surgery and she didn't take it too well. I regret telling her. My other daughter just thinks that I had an exploratory surgery for stomach problems.

I took Thursday off for the surgery and of course was home from work on Friday. I'm heading back to work on Monday and can't wait to get out of the house!!

Congratulations! Yes, the journey begins. You are fortunate that you are a fast healer. How do you feel?

I had my surgery on Friday 14 Sept by Dr. Colburn. I have lost 20 pounds and around 12 inches. I feel good and notice a big difference in my ability to walk. I still get tired. I start back to work tomorrow. I imagine that I will be quite tired tomorrow night.

Keep up the good work.
