mysleeveid13 got a reaction from Melodica in April 16th role call - who's with me!
Oh and about the tummy rumbly noises, my dr said it was normal. And the diarrhea.....sorry for TMI but he said that will be par for the course while I'm on the Clear Liquids. Boo!!! Glad I don't have to go back to work like this because I'm grumbling bubbling away over here. Ugh. It will all be worth it in the end, so I'm not complaining.

I'm still on clear liquids only and I'm dragging today. I got the kids to school and I came home and went back to bed for several hours. I tried to add Unjury chicken Soup Protein as that was the only thing outside of the broth, etc I am allowed and I couldn't get past the first sip. Made me sick for the rest of the night. Oh well. I will stick to the clear liquids for now. Anyone else on clear liquids post op?

I'm in the tummy talking club. It was especially bad after I had a Protein drink. I'm still really gassy no matter what I do. I did finally have a BM but it didn't really help with the gas.
I sneezed earlier and thought my belly was going to explode. Laughing and coughing hard have the same effect. I also have a lot of pain if I bend over at all. Getting up and down is a lot better though.
Where is everyone getting this unjury broth? I'd like to try it.

Tip I have to share - those 3oz paper Dixie cups (typically used in the bathroom) are a God send along with plastic spoons. Otherwise I would have a ton of dishes to wash if I had to dirty up a whole bowl/cup for a tiny portion of cottage cheese or whatever I'm eating. The 3oz size also makes it easy to measure just the right amount!

I was told the blurriness was from the nausea patch behind my ear and that once I removed it that it would get really blurry, which it did, for a few hours.
On a weird totally unrelated note....I made two different Cookies for my family two nights in a row and didn't even lick my fingers! I had my daughter put them in and out of the oven so I didn't bend, but they came out so perfectly. I just served them up to the kids and watched tv. I know it won't always be this easy, but I'm still very proud of me.
For Easter, the family had steak and mashed potatoes and it smelled and looked delicious. I made my little 4 oz cup of broth and enjoyed every drop of it. So weird.
How are you all doing on Easter?

I'm still really tired, but I'm going to try to go back to work half days tomorrow. I feel like if I could consume something that isn't Jello, Water, popsicles or broth that I would feel better. So ready to get off frickin clear liquids. Only a few more days but it seems like forever!
I'm supposed to start my clear Protein tomorrow and Vitamins at a week out when I start full liquids. Then a week after that, I get soft foods (which I can't wait for honestly).

My tummy and intestines are talking. Even more so now with adding Protein to my diet. I can't even get the chewable multi down. Just tried and dry heaves are back :/ going to try in two days. Need to get up to 60 ounce of liquids.

I'm so glad to start the full liquids & Vitamins tomorrow because I'm definitely not getting all of my Protein in. Hopefully my energy will come back. So tired of the clear liquids. yes tummy is making all kinds of noise. I too cant wait until I can have soft foods.

I actually bought the gerber baby juice since it's 100% juice and the containers are so small...but they told me unsweetened 100% juice was the kind to get. But not to drink more than 4 oz a day. And you dilute it with half juice half Water.
And they specificially said don't use a straw because you end up taking in more air when you drink from a straw (not sure how) but my paperwork specifically says "no straws" on the no no list.

I am 3 days post op and I was having some serious gas pains, too and I walked more than anyone that was in the hospital with me. I tried the heating pad, warm Decaf rea with one splenda (just cannot do totally unsweet) and nothing seemed to help. So then to add variety to my clear liquid diet (that I'll be on for 2 weeks post op) I tried 2 oz of apple juice mixed with 2 oz of Water. It tasted delicious and was a good break from broth and then it made me go #2. Each time I go potty I sit there for a minute and a ton of gas comes out. So long story longer, apple juice worked for me....
Also, one of my friends that had the surgery over a year ago said that she thinks I was drinking too much and too fast. I went back through my paperwork and it said 1 oz every 15 minutes and doing it that way you shouldn't drink more than 4 oz per hour (and you still can get in 64 oz per day). I felt like I was swallowing air each time I sipped so I think she was right. I slowed down and the gas was much better today.
Hope this wasn't TMI, but if it helps you then I will share..

Thank you so much for coming back and letting us know how it went. You hear it from people who had it years ago and I kind of think it's like having a baby in that you dismiss some of the freaking out part and it seemed easy looking back. It's really good to hear from someone who just went through it and it's all fresh in their mind. Maybe it's not as bad as I'm making it out to be. Thanks again for sharing this soon after surgery. Calms my nerves.....

I have to be there at 9 tomorrow and surgery at 12. Let's do this!!! Did any of you have to drink a whole bottle of Miralax today? I just did and it was pretty horrible. But I did it and I've almost made it through my clear liquid diet today without starving to death. Amazing the difference the Protein Shakes made a few days ago when I could have them.

For those of you asking about the Protein Shakes, my favorite so far has been the Premier Protein. They have 30 g of Protein and only 3 carbs. The chocolate is really good (for a shake). I've heard others like the vanilla but it was really super sweet to me and I didn't like it. I bet it would be good with some strawberries in it....but I can't have them on pre-op diet so saving those shakes until later. They also have a strawberry flavor that I haven't tried yet. You can get them at costco or Sam's Club. But make sure you read the labels. They sell one that has 15 g protein and the one I get is 30 g. I figure you should go with the higher protein since that's the ultimate goal, right? My date is the 16th. I think I said that earlier on here, but there are a couple of April postings so I can't remember. Anyways, good luck to all and keep us posted!!!

Seriously, no one said anything to me about losing weight until I hit the 50 pounds mark - on that day, I had two people that said something. Granted it's winter and I'm wearing bulky clothes, so it's less noticeable than if it was summer.
The first to comment was our financial planner, whom I haven't seen in months. He said, "You look like you've lost weight." I said, "I have and thanks for noticing and commenting. It's been hard work." That was it. Later that day the mom of one of my son's friends said, "You look great. You've lost a lot of weight." Again, I thanked her for noticing and saying something. She asked how much I've lost and I told her. That was it.
Before surgery I was also worried about social dinner situations. What would I say to people who notice I'm not eating much. No one has commented on how little I eat. At times a waiter or waitress may ask if everything was OK with the meal because I didn't eat much and I say, "It was really great, my eyes were just bigger than my stomach."
My brothers and their families haven't said anything about my weight loss and they didn't say anything at Christmas when I are virtually nothing at Christmas dinner.< /p>
The fact is, we think about our weight a lot more than other people do. I always thought people viewed me as the Fat Girl. In reality, I viewed me as the Fat Girl - that was my identity. I realize now, my brothers think of me as their sister, not their fat sister.

mysleeveid13 got a reaction from FireWife678 in What did you tell people at work?
Honestly I didn't feel any need to tell anyone at work but then my boss said, "Just don't lie about it like other people I know. One girl said she does Water aerobics and I had to tell her to stop lying." Really? Wow. I don't think it's lying if she really is doing aerobics but it's not their business "how" she's losing weight anyways! If you had a Tummy Tuck or something would that be everyone's business, too? I told her that maybe in time that I might feel free to discuss it but for now I'd appreciate it if she kept it between us. She said someone might be able to benefit from it if they were contemplating surgery...well not being ugly but they can do their research just like I did. Besides, I know most of the catty, two faced people that would be bold enough to ask me directly are not asking because they need help to lose weight. It's because they are nosey. Another girl in my office had surgery and some of them were bold enough to ask me what she was doing to drop weight so quickly. I told them to ask her. Geez. Some people just have nerve! I wish I was confident to just not care and come straight out but it's like a bunch of mean girls in high school and of course they are all tiny...Oh well. I'll come up with something.
