  1. I am at 252 right now (have lost 7 in the last week) I haven't talked to my doctor about it yet, but I think my goal is 155? I am 5'8. Thank you so much for your encouragement. It really helps hearing it from your prospective since you've been through it. How long before you ate your Protein instead of drinking it? haha. We do a lot of barrel races local and we travel a lot with my youngest daughter for High School Rodeo.

    Omg 4 days post

I am curious about how long was your pre-op diet and what were you able to have to eat on it?
  3. That's what I did. I went to all my favorite restaurants and don't regret it. I would try to cut down on sugars a little in the last few days so that it will be a little less hard on the withdrawls. Good luck and enjoy your last week.
  4. Sorry you have been having some problems. Here in the U.S. we are required to have a lot of blood work done before surgery. This includes thyroid tests to make sure our thyroid is working properly. I was prescribed thyroid medicine 2 years ago (I don't remember if I was hypo or hyper) anyway, I hadn't been taking that medication and when I went for my recent test my thyroid was fine. I hope you get leveled out and start seeing the weight loss you are hoping for.
  5. I have been on my liquid diet for 7 days (I have 7 to go). Yes, it is quite hard the first few days and you will question "What the hell am I doing?" hahaha. I had a headache the first couple days, but don't anymore. I drink 3 protein shakes a day, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles and broth. What has saved me is I get egg drop soup from my favorite chinese restaurants and eat the broth out of it. (This was approved by my doctors office) Good luck and stay strong
  6. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am almost 7 days down on the liquids and 7 to go. I want a meal so bad and keep trying to quit and reschedule for September (also because of travel plans). I keep thinking I have 2 weeks on liquid after surgery too and it makes me really nervous. Hearing you say it is easier after really helps. I had a slip up and ate popcorn last night at a movie, so I have to call my doctors office tomorrow and see what they say. I'm sure it will be fine, hearing how a lot of people just have a few days on liquid. How long before you were eating normal food and protein? Anyway, yes we have horses. Both my daughters barrel race and I used too, but refuse to now because of my weight. My daughters are way excited for me to start competing with them (if my back allows) as soon as I lose some lbs. I am in Utah.

    Liquid diet stressing...

It's really tough, I am on day 7 of my 14 day liquid only diet. 3 protein shakes and I eat broth, sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles. I enjoy eating broth from my favorite chinese restaurant's egg drop soup. (This was approved by my Dr.) It's getting old, and I'm hungry. I keep thinking "I have at least 3 more weeks of clear liquids?" ughhh. I keep thinking I want to reschedule my surgery for fall But, my family won't let me...haha

    Fruit?

So you can eat raw fruit without skins, even strawberries? Do you still have to have shakes at week 6? Sorry I have my surgery on the 14th and just am curious about this. Can't wait to not drink shakes all the time.

    Fruit?

I am so jealous of all you guys. My pre-op is 2 weeks liquid only. I'm on day 5, I would die for even 2 bites of chicken breast or something not sweet.
  10. I can have eggdrop soup from my favorite chinese restaurant, but have to strain it and only eat the broth.

    Free Isopure

I love the powder chocolate, vanilla and strawberry with Almond Milk.
  12. I'm really sorry you don't have his support. My husband and adult children are so supportive. I even wanted to reschedule my surgery to the fall (my surgery date is the 14th) because of some upcoming travel and they all said "NO, you do this for yourself now. Don't put it off." All it would have taken was a little bit of encouragement from them going along with my delay and I would have in a second. My point is, without my support system I would probably chicken out. Good luck and stand your ground.
  13. I use almond milk for my isopure shakes. I alternate vanilla, chocolate and strawberry protein. I also ad a little ice and with the chocolate PB2, which is a dried peanut butter that has low fat/carbs. I can see myself getting sick of them too. I still have 9 days of the pre-op liquid diet left. Good luck and thanks everyone for the ideas.

    They changed my surgery date!

I would be so happy if they moved mine up. Good luck!

    Day 1 on LIQUID diet!

Good for you! My surgery date is the 14th also, but I've been on the liquid diet since Monday. I have 2 weeks on it. I'm glad you haven't had headaches yet, I only did the first couple days.
  16. You could make your protein shakes with Almond Milk. That's what I make mine with and it actually tastes better too.
  17. Well at least the liquids will be good for your cold. I am on day 4 of 14 of my liquid diet and am pretty hungry so glad you have no appetite. Good luck and feel better soon.
  18. I am trying to time my surgery just right because I travel a lot. How long did it take for you to start eating normal solid foods (including proteins) and feel good enough to travel?

    The nut?

I have full access to my nutritionist and personal trainer for a full year after surgery. I feel lucky, I have used her for my pre-op liquid diet.

    Is it Caffeine withdrawl?

I'm on day 2 of the liquid diet and had the same horrible headache. I think mine is a tiny bit the caffeine, but mostly just the no food. I too heard that this goes away after a few days. I hope...

    Preop liquid diet ideas

BTW, I use almond milk in my shakes. I think it's a little sweeter.

    Preop liquid diet ideas

I am also at the end of day 2. I can have 3-4 protein shakes a day. I love my shakes, but so want something to eat! My sweet husband has been picking up egg-drop soup from my favorite chinese restaurant. I just strain it and eat the broth, but it's better than canned broth. I have also been eating sugar free jello. You don't know how many times I've thought to myself...Oh, I'm going to quit this and wait until fall. I won't of course, but it is pretty hard.
  23. Thank you everyone for your kind words of encouragement. I have the greatest support at home. My husband and children are really into bodybuilding and my son is going to school to be a personal trainer, so they have been really helpful with trying to make sure I get the best tasting Proteins and telling me what I can ad in for a little flavor. They have warned me about how angry I'm going to be while the carbs are being depleted from my body. They are so great! I love my family! I know I can do this and be successful. I am excited and nervous for the future.

    Pre-op vs. Liquid diet

Start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow. Wish I had your doctor? I think this 2 weeks might be the worst of it? Hopefully.

    hospital stay

I had an option to do my surgery outpatient, which my surgeon says has been working really well. Unfortunately as a self pay, the only way to get the supplemental insurance was to go to the hospital. I believe my stay will be one night. I would prefer to do outpatient.
