7 days post-op
I'm glad you're getting your leg checked out. Ask them about your liquid intake too. I didn't think we could dump with liquids....? If I remember right we were to drink 1-2 oz every 15 minutes. After the first week it becomes easier. I remember it hurting going down and after even drinking a tiny sip but now I can drink normally thigh I have to remember not to chug or it will feel like I swallowed a ball. There are lots of choices for Protein drinks. nectar brand is good, lots of flavors, juice and shakes. The shakes are getting too sweet though it seems and too thick. I had to be on liquids for just under two weeks. Premiere Protein Drinks, adkins protein drinks, sf flavor additives to Water, I preferred Mio, some prefer Sf Crystal light.

July bypass
It's more like a "puree/mushy" stage but feel I'm ready to start solids but waiting until the 25th for our stage III orientation. After that I'm firing my bariatric dr and finding another.

How do you over drink your liquids? Do you mean too fast or too much? You can't drink "too much" at this stage because that's all your doing. Lol. At least 32oz/day plus 3-4 Protein drinks is what our nut said. And I'm 3 wks out and don't get full either. I know when to stop when I feel it in my throat. I'm still learning the new feelings.

Body measurements
No. My Dr never even examined me. Before, right after surgery or at post op. I am not happy with him or his office even though he's supposed to be one of the top bariatric surgeons here.

How long after surgery until you got blood work done?
To check vitamin/mineral levels and whatever else....? And do you know what specifically was checked?

First meeting with surgery team - trying to decide
I wanted the sleeve like my husband got but as soon as I told the Dr I have gerd he highly recommended a bypass and said that gerd can get worse with a sleeve. I've also read many people on her getting it revised from sleeve to rny because their Dr didn't tell them this.

Familiar words some of us can relate to- from Robin Williams RIP :(
"During an interview with Good Morning America, Williams explained that falling back into alcohol abuse was "very gradual." "It's the same voice thought that… you're standing at a precipice and you look down, there's a voice and it's a little quiet voice that goes, 'Jump,'" Williams told Diane Sawyer. "The same voice that goes, 'Just one.' … And the idea of just one for someone who has no tolerance for it, that's not the possibility." When asked why he relapsed, Robin answered: "It's [addiction] — not caused by anything, it's just there… It waits. It lays in wait for the time when you think, 'It's fine now, I'm OK.' Then, the next thing you know, it's not OK." Replace "alcohol" with "food". Addiction of any kind is so hard. We just have to go day by day and learn new habits and try not to think of the old.

Really Freaked Out
did your Dr not give you a list of foods you're allowed to eat for stage II- Mushy foods?

Buffet restaurants?
Thanks. I will and I will enjoy myself too with my son and friends because it will be the last. I am fully aware of the 'danger' of over eating at a buffet and in my original post I even said "how little we eat", implying I won't be eating that much therefore not over eating because I am not going through all of this to get skinny only to gorge myself on buffet food. I'm not that dumb. I just wanted to know, by others who have been to buffets, because there has GOT to be other people who have been to a buffet after wls for whatever reason, and how they handled it or if they showed their wls card or talked to the cashier about ordering a children's size plate and if that was allowed. I should have been more specific about that in my OP. Fortunately, I've learned since asking this question, the buffet we go to offers appetizers in which my husband and I will share one. Thank you for everyone's replies.

Buffet restaurants?
I shouldn't have to explain why. I just wanted an answer to my question, not people telling me what I should or shouldn't do. Thanks.

July bypass
How are you cooking your fish Dawn? I was on liquids for 12 days and we'll be on mushy for a freakin month (until stage III orientation) unless Dr tells us we can start this Thursday wish I hope so because I know I can.

Buffet restaurants?
Yes but it has been a tradition for us to go to a buffet every year with my son's friends after band performance and prom. He can go by himself but it's his last year and they like is to go with them. I could just ask if they just serve appetizers and hubby and I can share.

Buffet restaurants?
For as little as we eat how do we not get charged for a full buffet? They can be expensive.

Thx. Not allowed the berries yet but can do banana. Where do I buy the pb2? And is that milk? We can't have milk either. Will water work?

And of course we're not allowed to have any of those foods since they're not on our list. :: sigh::

Foods you can our can't eat per Dr preference. frustrating!
UgH!!! I'm reading so many food suggestions from other posts on here and half the stuff others are allowed to eat aren't on my approved foods list!! SO frustrating!!! WHY can't I have creamed Soups???? My nut says because it just goes right through you. So many people are able to eat mashed potatoes and gravy yet we can't, nut says because there's no nutritional value to potatoes. That goes for life long stage too. So why is it ok for others to eat it then?? I'm really curious what the statistics look like
