In the hospital again
I hope you don't and are on the mend now. Well be thinking about you. Do you still have that pain? That could be part of the pancreatiris. I'm assuming they had you on iv antibiotics, right?

still hungry :(
Thanks carol. I'm doing what the nut said to do and the max is 2 oz every 3 hrs our so during the day. Always protien first and from the food on their list. She makes it sound like I shouldn't even be able to eat that much but I feel like I could eat more. Is just frustrating.

Have they done a ct scan of your abdomen to see if you don't have a clot too like my husband does with your same symptoms?

RNY - how are you feeling?
Two and a half weeks out, down 26 and STUCK. Still trying to get this eating foods thing down. It's hard! Not the actual eating part, that's going fine with no problems, except that I don't feel hungry or full, but eating 4-5 times per day. Blah. Lol

Wheaton about vitamins, please check yours
Our Flintstones do have vit k at 25%. They are Flintstones complete with iron. The nut said they are ok to take because he needs the vitamins and the drs well be closely monitoring his levels fir the blood clot and will make any adjustments if needed. Thanks everyone for the back up suggestions! :-)

My husband can't be on vit k due to being on Coumadin fir the next three months from a blood clot from surgery (pancreatits as well). Does your multivitamin have vit k in it? We need to find one that sits not have vit k.

Well, I had this problem before surgery too. I didn't care to eat until my stomach finally grumbled mid afternoon. This is such a chore. And when I don't feel full I think why even bother. But I know it's supposed to be healthier to eat regularly so I'll have to force eat but when I do I'm not losing any weight so my mind thinks it's the food's fault. This sucks. I was so happy to be able to eat food and now that I can I don't want to to be bothered. I'd rather just drink the protein drinks.

wth? hospital feeding rules vs what we supposed to have. I'm mad!
Ya, I couldn't drink that chicken broth. It was discusting. They have me Apple juice too, and not sugar free and I had a bypass. I don't understand why they don't have a bariatric diet. Crazy. He has sf chocolate pudding, sf vanilla pudding, tomato Soup, cream of wheat, and I forget what else, all of which are not on our approved food list and are shitty foods to eat but Dr ordered them. Didn't even order him a banana, lf cottage cheese, greek yogurt and all that with good Protein and nutrients and I'm sure the hospital has this stuff. I don't get it. I hate this dr. For more than just this. I should have trusted my gut last Saturday and brought him to the ER, even after I called the Dr to tell him he's not doing well at all and all he said was to drink more Water. Made my husband suffer 4 more days until post op appt. That's the second time I should have trusted my gut. The first time was at orientation when I didn't have a good feeling about him and the way he answered me after I asked him a simple question. Jerk. He has also never even examined me, before, right after or post op and when I ask him a question he answered it as if I'm totally annoying and he can't be bothered with me. The only time I've given him attitude was the morning after surgery when I told him I was mad at him for refusing to give me demerol, which is the only pain med that works on me and I told him that before. Plus the nurses couldn't get a hold if him for 9 hours to try a different pain med (diludad) when the morphine wasn't working. The diludad didn't work either, neither did the tramadol he sent me home with. Hydrocodone makes me sick so that's out. But I KNOW demerol works. I suffered all that time. Even the nurses were in my side and were proud of me for chewing him out. He left without even telling me how my surgery went or anything. Discharged us the next day and he still didn't tell me anything. At post op appt he examined my husband, told me to bring him to the ER then come back to do my post op. When I did he couldn't be bothered to see me or answer a couple of questions I had so the nutritionist relayed back and forth. I went in the next day to see if someone could check on one of my incisions because it felt weird (bulging like a hernia). He came in the room finally and wouldn't feel where I was showing him and told me it was all normal and the dimple would go away. I wasn't talking about the dimple but above it where it hurt. He argued with me and all I wanted him to do was feel that spot to tell me it was ok or not. He still didn't. I just feel so angry with him, sad and rejected.

wth? hospital feeding rules vs what we supposed to have. I'm mad!
Pik, what did your dr say about pancreatitis and bariatric surgery? Did he also say that it can.happen about 1:1000 patients? I hope.you feel better soon!

wth? hospital feeding rules vs what we supposed to have. I'm mad!
We have the same foods list but he's not supposed to start foods until next Friday. Those foods are not on our list. He's going to come home and think he can continue eating that non nutritious crap and it's ok because the hospital gave it to him. They are not giving him enough protein either. He is not caring enough and it's making me mad.

wth? hospital feeding rules vs what we supposed to have. I'm mad!
Wtf??!!! My husband was readmitted to the hospital last Wednesday for pancreatitis and blood clot from his sleeve surgery on the 18th. The hospital has been letting him drink apple juice but we are not allowed to drink it outside of the hospital (I got rny on the 18th also). They gave him cream of wheat, vanilla pudding and one other food today that are all not on our list to eat and were strict not to have it on our paperwork from bariatric office, PLUS sleevers don't eat food until 3 wks out (according to our surgeons office)and that's next Friday. Wtf???? So does that mean I can eat that crap too??? He needs protein!! They are not helping him start this in a good way and he doesn't say anything or ask anything and he thinks I'm being ridiculous for this concern. I'm mad at them and my husband for not standing up for himself and his health!

JULY 2014 Post Op Rny / Bypass Support Group
You're doing great Andrea I'm two weeks out and I've always had a problem with liquids before surgery and I still hate it. Frankly, eating and drinking is a chore, I don't feel like doing either. I don't feel hungry or full. I have to put a timer on for every 3 hrs to remind me to eat or I won't. I'm not losing anything now that I'm eating foods which is frustrating but I guess normal. I was losing about a pound a day on liquids only. Eating annoying too because I have to pack little containers of food and bring with me wherever I go so that I have something with me at all times because I don't know how long I'll be out. Can't just go to a food place and order an ounce or two of something they don't have on my approved list. Sigh. But hang on there my friends:) Everyone is different. I love hearing how everyone is doing

RNY - how are you feeling?

whine: I want soup!
Ya, that's why or program says no soup, even in stage II. But I still want it. Lol. I want pea soup but peas aren't on the good list of veggies

anti inflammatories
Demerol. I only wanted it after surgery while at the hospital. I know drs don't usually script it for home so I just have to deal with the pain.

JULY 2014 Post Op Rny / Bypass Support Group
Thanks for the well wishes for my husband. He's still in the hospital and will stay until his pancreas is better and no more pain. He will be taking Coumadin for 3 months for the clot. Dr said This can happen to 1:1000 of bariatric patients from surgery, especially sleevers. He is doing much better though. I just miss him. This has been emotionally difficult for him too- not being in control. He's worried about his job but his boss tells him not to worry.

Do you have your gallbladder still? Hopefully it's just gas. If it persists and doesn't change tell your dr.

PPI's, ulcers and old stomach questions
I think I would feel better taking it for life too. I hear of people getting ulcers where the sutures were and omaprozole hero's to protect that from happening. I don't know, this is all so confusing.
