  1. My NUT told me to pour some soda in a Ziploc bag and seal it up. Then carry the bag around while you do your housework or go up and down the stairs a few times. The bag will start to expand and bloat because of the carbonation. This is the same reaction it will have on your sleeve.

That image sticks with me when I think about having a Coke after I'm sleeved. I just won't take that chance.

Now this is advice! I'm going to try it. That will really help me to avoid sodas.

  2. just got sleeved yesterday, my gas pain is all in my chest and that's what s bothering me, not the incisions! I have had to slow down drinking because it makes me feel way too full

Hang in there Itz! Walking is supposed to be the best medicine for gas. I was sleeved on 4/15, and thank God I didn't have that issue. I was more afraid of the gas than the surgery. Dr said he gets out as much as he can. I'm so grateful. Just walk and take pain meds to help you move and drink.

  3. I've been playing my Wii sports games and weighing and tracking on Wii fit. It's just more interesting to me. One of my girlfriends encouraged me to use the pain meds to help get fluids in. I did for a short while and I drink better. I'm still learning the ''sip slow" routine. There's pain in my chest when I forget. I really am ready for food. Sick to death of these shakes. Thinking of scrambling an egg with a very small amount of cheese since I'm doing so well. I'm afraid though. Post op appt isn't until Wed. Glad you're doing better, Purple!

  4. I have had a bad cold while on the mend. My sleeve was April 1 my Dr. put me on Antibiotics but they are causing diarrhea. I just feel so worn out. I don't know that I will be ready to go to work Tuesday. Still in some one pain. I am not supposed to lift 8-10 lbs for 6 weeks. My job requires 50lbs lifting.Anyone else had this problem?

If you're under Dr's orders your job can't require you violate his orders. They'll have to place you on light duty. I have one employee going out to have a baby soon and I told her I will need a Dr's note indicating that It's alright for her to return to regular duty. If you get seriously injured on the job the company could be held liable. You should speak with your human resource manager.

  5. I'm sure I will do the sugarbusters diet again after the surgery. The book is written by local Drs. There are many recipes there from New Orleans chefs also. I believe once I connect my mind with my stomach, I'll be fine. Plus I really am ready to push this fat chic aside. She is not healthy for me. Also, I think once this liquid phase is over and I can learn to eat again, that will be the key to my success. Learning to eat!! Thanks everyone. I just love this site.

  6. I love food so much!! I'm concerned about myself adopting a new way of eating. I've never made it a point of controlling what I eat except for once when I did the SugarBusters diet. Then I lost 60 pounds. I still was able to eat but no sugar or starches. I think it's similar to Atkins. It worked so well for me. For instance I love fries. On this diet I could have sweet potato fries so there was no hardship. I think this liquid diet is screwing my head. Can I learn a new way of eating after all these years of eating my way? I live in New Orleans, the food capital of the world! Rich sauces, fried everything, creole this, blackened that, gumbo - the list is endless here. I'm concerned.

  7. In my pre-op yesterday I had to come up with $3400. CareCredit gives 24 months with no interest payments at this hospital. I only had one thousand dollars in cash, that's all I planned to put down on the surgery, as I thought I could make payments on the rest of the bill. The hospital said elective procedures must be paid in advance. So I gave them 1,400, and did 2,000 with Care Credit.
