Amaltha, I also had my band "installed" by Dr. Corvala. I live on the east coast and cannot afford to fly back and forth to Mexico for my fills. I called "Fill Centers USA" and they found a doctor near me (three hours away), that will do my fills. I really like him and am glad that I found someone closer to home! They have a website if you want to check them out. Good luck!

I'm trying to still stay within the guidelines, but it's hard when I got the lapband because I couldn't control my eating in the first place. For about two weeks after my fills, I feel restricted and can't eat even the 1/2 cup of food at meals and do lose weight, but then I become able to eat anything and it is a constant fight to not eat constantly. I don't know if I am just not restricted enough or maybe have a leak of the saline. I'm getting another fill next week and hope it helps. I'll talk to the doctor then too.

I was so excited to find this information! I have a call in to my doctor in Mexico because after 2 fills I am still gaining. I went from 285 to 238 in five months, started gaining weight, had a second fill, lost twelve and have gained 22 since then. I'm now back up to 252 and very disappointed, but it sounds like I just haven't found the right restriction yet. I'm making another appt. for a fill - hope the third time is a charm. Hi! I was banded Sept 19 in Tijuana, Mexico by Dr. Corvala. I paid $7250 for the new band from J and J and my fee includes a full year of fills. This covered everything except the flight tickets! I was treated very well and stayed in the beautiful Hospital Angeles. I had a lot of misgivings about going out of the country and even considered canceling at the last moment. I'm glad I went ahead and am doing great, even though I am one of the oldies. Be sure and investigate everything wherever you go and know what the fee includes and what it doesn't. I'll be rooting for you! :clap2:

I was banded Sept. 19 and am just now feeling better. I had complications, but am doing great. Week two down 12 lbs. Hey, I'm 60 years young and starting my new life!:clap2:

I went to Mexico because I have no health insurance. Dr. Corvala in Tijuana did mine for $7250, including everything except air flight. I also got the new J and J band which is about $800 - $1000 cheaper. I was treated like a queen and am very pleased.:clap2:

I was banded by Dr. Corvala on Sept. 19 and am very pleased, not only with him, but the Hospital Angeles and their wonderful staff. I don't speak much spanish, but the staff and I always were able to communicate or they would go get someone on the staff who could speak English very well. The hospital is magnificent! Very clean and shiny! Dr. Corvala was very patient with my questions and has checked on me once since I came home and had another of his staff call me too. Call the hospital and asks for the Tijuana Bariatric Group, or go through BeLiteWeight.com and they will set up everything, including transportation from the airport. Dr. Corvala "installed" the new J and J band too, which I requested and was cheaper. I'm very happy!

I too gained weight (6 lbs.) and called my doctor in tears. He said it was common and to just hang in there. He also advised me to stay off the scale for a week and I would probably have lost all six lbs. On the sixth day I noticed I suddenly starting urinating alot more and when I got back on the scales in a week, I had lost eight lbs. Hang in there and don't give up! Everyone is different.

I was banded with the J and J on Sept. 19 and have not had any problems except a little nausea in the beginning. The J and J was offered to me as $800 cheaper and a much better band (I was a self-payer). Something was said about it being made of silicone and the problem of erosion was greatly reduced. I had my banding done in Mexico, so the J n J was not available in the US. If anyone hears of a doctor who will fill a JnJ, please let me know. It's free to fill at the clinic in Mexico, but my airfair is costly. Anyone else get the JnJ out there?

The beLite people apparently set everything up for the surgery. They list their doctors as Webber,Gazayerli, Laker and Weiner. The receipt was signed by Joanne from BeLite. One of their e-mails also mentioned Dr. Juan Lopez Corvala. They say that I will have my surgery at Los Angeles Hospital in Tijuana if my medical questionnaire looks okay. If my surgery is the 20th, I need to make flight arrangements now or pay last minute fees. Has anyone used these doctors? Thanks

Hi everyone! Have any of you scheduled your surgery with the Tijuana Bariatric Group in Mexico? I went through "BeLite" and am having trouble getting them to respond to my calls, even though I am scheduled for Sept. 20th. I'm uneasy.:help:
