  1. [Hi there MazadiB! Well done! You've sure put in the hard yards to achieve your success. I'm stepping on over to the other side on 14 April and just know I will also be successful. I'm giving myself 2 years to get where I am comfortable and need to be. Thanks for pushing me on with your inspiring post.

    Surgery april 8...excited!

Hiya Kazzygal - sounds like you are doing well. Thanks for the tip about sitting up to take in liquid. Wow you got home 2 days after too, nice. I was so anxious at the start of the week that I ended up at the Drs as I put my blood pressure up to 190/120. I think I got myself in a right panic attack. Anyhow I think I have worked through it mostly and only have 2 more sleeps left. My surgery has been bumped from 11 to 2pm on Monday - but I'm ok with that, it just means that I don't need to be at hospital until 12pm now :-). Wishing you a speedy recovery and let us know how you are progressing from time :-)
  3. 3 more sleeps (Aussie time) for us April 14ers!!

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Hi there! Feeling all sorts of emotions today. I'm so ready for my surgery on Monday 14th in one way. My op is with Dr Martin at the Wesley, Brisbane. I've successfully had my superannuation released and now paid for my surgery and anaesthesia costs, stocked my cupboard with post op foods, reviewed my Will and power of attorney and have my bag ready for hospital..... While Preparations are sorted I'm not doing so well emotionally. I think while I was busy getting things organised I was ok. I don't trust myself not to run away scared from the hospital. I'm such a sook. On the other hand I wish it was done already, but I know there is no magical wand...... Alas. Just got to keep focused on the why and stay excited I guess.

Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story

Hi everyone! So happy to have found this thread. I too hope that over time I will be able to come back here and post my successes as many of you have! You are all so inspiring. I'm from Australia and have 11 days to go until I get my sleeve :-) 14 April 2014. I started out HW 410lb and had to start a 5 week pre-op diet and have dropped 25lb so far. Feeling very emotional - scared, excited all at the same time. I am coping well on my preop diet, not feeling hungry, just miss variety and dare I say it Steak! Ha ha Thank you again for sharing your posts and I hope to see more success stories and sharing of challenges.

    Optislim vs optifast

That's good to know - thanks for sharing as I know they have different flavours too. I must check the Vitamin values though. So not long for you now - hope you are feeling as excited as I am, I just wish I could get it over and done with but alas I still have 6 days longer than you :-). Go hard on your pre op diet I've got 3 weeks down and two to go and have to say my espresso shot in my morning shake makes that first one of the day bearable. Look forward to reading about your journey.

pre surgery Opti fast & Cheating

Hey there Jessiegirl30 - I have a 5 week Optifast lead in to my surgery on 14 April and I agree it's not the greatest. I cheated once, just had to have grilled fish, on day 14 no less! No batter or anything but just had to have it! I confessed to my dietician and it's all good - she just gave advice that Protein might slow weightloss but cheating with carbs would put a halt for a day or two and go straight around my liver - so who knows for sure. I'm back on track and have lost 10kg in a little over 2 weeks. We just have to keep on keeping on - good luck on the 4th!
  16. I've joined recently and have liked posts of others and made comments here and there, but really just addicted to reading as much as I can to learn as much as I can. However I think you have demonstrated how worthwhile it might be to journal my own journey, especially from your previous post. I truly think I might give it at shot ( if I can work out how to start one! Lol) like you say I can reflect on it during any stage and maybe after I'm 1 year or more down track inspire someone like you have......

    I couldn't believe this ish...

I'm with you - I don't want to be that girl! And thanks for sharing because this will be something I can recall in the future to put me back on track. We need to nourish our bodies with the little food we will be able to eat. I'm going to give it everything to stay on track.

    First few weeks

Thanks so much ladies - I think I will stock up on supplies and make sure I move anything upstairs I might need before I go to hospital. I know there will be pain and discomfort of course and individual tolerances and circumstances will make it an individual experience - but telling us your experiences help someone like me be able to plan and manage as best we can :-) thanks again

    First few weeks

Hi there, thanks for sharing - may I ask what about bending to get up from a chair or in and out of bed? Also, I'm really concerned about getting up 12 steps to my home after hospital as no one will be able to lift me....
  22. GoldnGirl6677

3 month post op with pictures!

Congratulations- you look fantastic and must feel amazing! Thank you so much for posting your pictures too. They are inspiring for me (and I'm sure for others too :-) ) especially as I'm a super fraidy cat about going under! Keep up the fantastic work.

    Any April 1st sleevers?

I'm in Qld too - and work in Brisbane. I'm hoping I'll only need 2 weeks off. Maybe I'm too ambitious :-) ha! I'm going through Ian Martin at the Wesley, but haven't come across any others on here yet. Yes I agree the focus is on the long term. Keep me posted on your journey and maybe we can swap our liquid and mushie recipes Aussie style ha ha. I have to say our fellow American wls friends are quite knowledgable and supportive - I've learned a lot reading posts here.

    Any April 1st sleevers?

Hey there I'm April 14 and in the land of Oz as well. I've had to go on pre op diet 5 weeks out. 3 shakes a day with a bland salad at lunch and two cups of steamed verges in the evening. Can't say I've been hungry (oh I am allowed a half cup of berries each day too) but I sure have missed meat over sweets lol. I'm just under 4 weeks out now and scared - hope it turns to excitement or anticipation soon lol - good luck
  25. I've never posted before - hope this works. I felt compelled to say this must be amazing for you - well done! If I'm correct that's around 30 kilos or standard house bricks you have released there. I truly hope I can do as well as you. Keep going :-)
